Tastefully designed with unique decor to allow you to enjoy the serenity of your surroundings, each suite comes with its own bath tub, private terrace, and garden with outdoor seating. Hardwood furniture and a ceiling made of teak brings the ambiance of the forest into your room.
The sleeping area has a comfy queen-sized bed, and an additional double bed can be arranged in the living room if needed. Ceiling fans, a refrigerator, coffee and tea maker, phone, complementary snacks, TV, and DVD player.

This yoga retreat offers two daily yoga classes including guided and silent meditation in a magnificent open-air pavilion overlooking acres of green, lush vegetation of the Costa Rican mountains. You will also enjoy hiking adventures to catch the sunrise, watch the different bird species, and a slow paced afternoon waiting for the sunset.
Enjoy one full day tour to two popular Costa Rica destinations: La Paz Waterfall gardens and Poas Volcano. La Paz Waterfall gardens give you the opportunity to enjoy lush tropical rainforests, flowing white rivers, beautiful waterfalls, and a variety of birds, butterflies, and flowers. Over three and a half kilometers of hiking trails allows you to take it all in at your own pace.
Then, a visit to Poas Volcano allows you to look into the heart of a live volcano. Although there is no lava flow, the steam arising from the crater and occasional geyser eruptions make this a spectacular sight. You will get a bird’s eye-view approximately 320 meters down into the powerful crater and the deck is practically at the rim of the crater.
A half day tour to explore the local waterfall, which is a private local waterfall, 15 minutes from the resort.
A half day tour to Turubari Park, which is just 15 minutes from the resort. High above the rainforest, Turubari Park is an eco-adventure experience with rain forest tours, an aerial tram, and a tram ride. Turubari is known to have the best canopy tours in all of Costa Rica.
Newton Campbell is an experienced registered yoga teacher at the 200 level with more than 15 years of teaching experience. He is co-principal of Triad Yoga and Pilates and created one of the most successful and independent grass roots studios in southern California together with his business partner. He developed his own teaching style known throughout Orange County as “Fig Yoga” that incorporates deep breath work and holding the yoga poses for long periods of time to deepen the experience and increase the benefits of each pose.
This retreat will take place in Ama Tierra retreat and wellness center nestled on eight acres in the Costa Rican mountains. It is located one hour west of the capital city of San Jose and one hour north of the Central Pacific beaches. It lies on the winding but wonderfully pothole-free Highway 137, 19 kilometers past Puriscal toward Orotina, about an hour’s drive southwest from San José. The retreat center is elevated at 2000 feet, creating an ideal climate which stays between 62 to 84 degrees year round.

Enjoy some of the freshest foods in all of Costa Rica. You will be served with international cuisine, with an emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables, some home-grown in the organic garden. Feel like home away from home with three family-style meals served daily on the balcony.
Your individual dietary concerns are honored. The dishes are either vegetarian or include fresh fish or hormone-free chicken. Menu for vegan or gluten-free diets can be adapted.

A registered AHG (American Herbalist Guild) herbalist on-site will help you create a dietary regimen and lifestyle shift, as well as addressing your health problems by using herbal and homeopathic remedies.
This professional consultation can lead you to a diet appropriate for your goals and can help you get started on detoxifying or making dietary changes. Consultation fee is not included in the retreat cost.
The goal is healthful, enjoyable dining. You will feel good about the attention to freshness and wholesome ingredients. Only healthful oils, (no trans-fats) real butter, and local honey are used in food preparation. Often, substituting honey or "dulce" (minimally processed sugar cane) for white sugar. Desserts are homemade and generally light, though the resort cooks also accommodate everybody’s love for chocolate!
First meal starts with dinner on arrival day and ends with breakfast on departure day.
Feel pampered and satisfied. There are also leaner options such as aatmeal with goji berries or yogurt and granola with soaked seeds and flax are also available.
The local cooks serve up delicious dishes. For example, orange or mango chicken with coriander, served with brown and wild rice is one favorite. Or, vegetarian dishes such as spinach enchiladas and vegetarian Thai curry over rice.

It’s a scenic one hour’s drive guided by equine professional psychotherapists Marsha and Mark Friedman to bring you together with some very special horses for a fun, safe, and powerful equine and human bonding experience.
