Yoga Retreats in Thailand combined with the Vegetarian Festival
Located in Southern Asia, Thailand is the country which receives the most visitors in the area. From the thick jungle to crystal blue waters and sandy beaches, to flavorful food that will make your tongue dance with joy, Thailand has it all.
In October, plan to visit Northern destinations such as Chiang Mai. It’s still lush although not as wet as in August or September. Do keep in mind that floods are quite common by the end of the month. Also, October is not ideal for island hopping because of the wet weather. October is, however, perfect to visit Bangkok. It is still a bit wet but manageable.
Taking place this month in Phuket, in the South, The Vegetarian Festival is a nine-day celebration of the Chinese belief that abstinence from meat during the ninth lunar month of the Chinese year will bring peace of mind and good health.
If you happen to head to Bangkok, get your adrenaline pumping by watching a Thai boxing match. And If the weather is still not good enough to take a tour of the city, how about learning to cook Thai food?
When it comes to practicing yoga, Thailand offers a lot of options to choose from. Learn to master yoga poses, focus on meditation, and soak in the local atmosphere during a yoga retreat in Thailand. If you feel up for it, you may even combine a yoga retreat with a martial arts camp.
Although October is still part of the rainy season, by the end of the month there is less chance of rain and lower humidity. The temperatures also begin to drop, making the month quite a good choice for traveling in Thailand. The average temperature in Phuket is 27C / 81F and it’s a little bit warmer in Bangkok: 28C / 83F. In Chiang Mai, the average temperature is 26C / 80F.
Yoga Retreats in Italy combined with Food Festivals
Located in Southern Europe, Italy is home to the greatest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the world. It is also famous for the delicious cuisine, beautiful coasts, alpine lakes, stunning mountains, and trendy fashion.
Autumn is the perfect time to visit Italy: fewer tourists, cheaper prices, wine and food events, empty beaches, and fall foliage. The weather is still good enough to go hiking in the Alps in October. And the colors are stunning. If you always wanted to visit Cinque Terre now it’s the perfect time to go. Do watch the weather reports as some hiking routes may be closed. But there are always trains available.
If you happen to have food on your mind, then head to Piedmont for the Alba White Truffle Festival. Other truffles festivals take place in Tuscany, Umbria, La Marche, and Emilia Romagna. Should you want to taste the iconic Chianti Classico or other Italian wines, head to Boccaccesca – a wine and food festival – taking place in Tuscany.
The Mediterranean climate is great to help you rejuvenate the body and clear the mind during a yoga retreat in Italy. Tuscany is not only famous for the wine and food but also for the relaxed way of life. And if you have the beach on your mind, head to Sicily. Apulia is slowly but steadily transforming into one of the best regions to visit in Italy so why not explore it during a yoga retreat and try yoga near ancient olive trees.
Spring and Autumn (September to November) are the best times to visit Italy. The last summer heat still lingers in October, making it a popular time to visit the cities. But remember to be prepared for rain. If you are heading to the countryside, the harvest festivals are in full swing. The average temperature in Rome is 17C / 63F, same as in Bari, while in Florence is 15C/60F.
Yoga Retreats in Morocco combined with Sightseeing
Located in Northern Africa, Morocco has coastlines on both the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. On top of the great beaches and water sports that can be practiced, add the bustling and colorful cities, as well as the refreshing oasis to get a picture of what Morocco has to offer.
If you don’t like summer travel or just want to avoid the heat, October is the perfect month to plan your travels to Morocco. There are fewer children traveling now which is perfect if you prefer the company of adults.
If you enjoy dates (the fruit!) then head to the Sahara Desert. It’s time to celebrate the harvest in October. Food, music, dancing, and other fun activities will keep you busy for three days. Or you can head to Essaouira and attend a music festival. If neither appeal much to you, then put on your walking shoes and explore the cities in the Sahara Desert, such as Ouarzazate where films like “Cleopatra”, “Lawrence of Arabia”, and TVs “Game of Thrones” have been shot.
As for practicing yoga, Morocco is one of the great places where you can mix it with surf or sightseeing the colorful Marrakech. Fear not, yoga only retreats also exist, especially in the cities. Whatever you will choose, you will be in for quite an exotic yoga retreat in Morocco.
Spring and autumn are also the best times to visit Morocco. The weather is warm and pleasant. October is the perfect month to sightsee, hike, and to visit the Atlantic coast. The average temperature in Essaouira is 16C/66C, while in Marrakech is much warmer at 21C / 70C. In Fez, the average temperature is 18C/64F. Still, the weather can be quite random: hot days, cooler days, dry days, and rainy days. Make sure to pack a waterproof jacket.
