5 Yoga Poses to Burn Lower Belly Fat

If there’s one thing that most of us want to get rid of, it would be our lower belly fat. We develop a flabby tummy over the course of time because of our unhealthy eating habits, erroneous lifestyle, high stress levels and sedentary lifestyle. 

Though “dad bod” is a thing nowadays, we still want to look good on our two-piece or crop tops.

So, how can we get rid of this stubborn flab? In addition to a proper diet, yoga could very well be the answer.

There are several yoga poses that will help you tone your lower belly in no time. Want to know which ones? Start with these 6:  

1. Standing Forward Bend (Padahastasana)


Staying in the standing forward bend position will give you the toned stomach that you have always dreamed of.

How does this happen?

This position compresses your abdomen while you’re bending forward, which regulates the burning of fat. The series of bending forward gives you a toned and firm stomach, removing the excess layer of fats. And toning down your tummy doesn’t only make you look good, but fit abdominal muscles also give you better digestion.

It also strengthens your wrist joints and is an excellent way of getting relief from physical and mental exhaustion.


2. Bow Pose (Dhanurasana)


If you want an excellent posture, this pose is perfect for you. It offers a good stretch for your back, abdomen, arms, thighs, chest, and stimulates your abdomen and neck.

It tightens your abs and strengthens your core which results in the reduction of belly fat. Rocking back and forth in this position also stimulates your digestive system and provides relief for constipation.


3. Wind Easing Pose (Pavanamuktasana)


This pose helps in strengthening your back and abdominal muscles as well as giving you toned muscles in your arms and legs. It triggers the burning of fat in your belly section since your knees exert pressure on your stomach, leading to toned abs, thighs, and hips.

It also provides relief on various gastric problems such as constipation and indigestion. In addition, it balances the pH levels in your body to improve metabolism and stomach health. Who doesn't want a healthy stomach inside and outside?


4. Boat Pose (Naukasana)


This pose will help you strengthen your muscles in the back and legs, as well as burn belly fat near your waist.

Staying in a position where your body creates a 45-degree angle attacks your stubborn belly fat near your waist, giving you a toned and flat stomach in no time. It also gives you strong legs and back.


5. Mountain Pose (Tadasana)



This ideal warm-up pose prepares your body for other yoga poses as it improves your blood circulation. It also corrects your posture, strengthens your knees, thighs, and abdomen, and gives you firm buttocks.

You might be surprised, but standing in mountain pose will burn lower belly fat. This happens because if you take deep breaths while staying erect, stimulates the fat burning process. It helps if you picture yourself donning that hot 2-piece swimsuit while you are doing this pose just to give you more motivation.

This pose has several variations when it comes to arm positioning. You can either have them stretched upwards, perpendicular to the floor or parallel to each other.



Having a flat and toned stomach is not too hard if you set your mind to. You don't need to spend too much time at the gym doing all those crunches that you seem to hate. Practice the above yoga poses and strut your flat and toned tummy in no time.
