Been wanting to go to a yoga retreat? Perhaps my experience will help you to finally go on one! My yoga retreat at Tambo Ilusion was absolutely wonderful. At first, it seemed a little daunting flying off to Peru and going straight into the jungle, but all my fears were allayed as soon as I arrived.
As I was able to arrange an airport pick up before I jet off, I was able to make my way to the retreat with no problem. Once I arrived, Jo, my retreat host, and yoga instructor had a healthy and delicious lunch already prepared. I was made to feel right at home straight away!

Jo is very knowledgeable about nutrition, and her cooking skills are excellent. Together with her husband Armando, she is particularly keen to make sure that every guest gets the most out of being there. Each day can be tailored to your preferences, and there is absolutely no pressure.
I am a relative beginner in yoga and Jo made sure all the sessions were just right for me. She is a fantastic and attentive teacher, and also a completely brilliant host! While yoga is the main focus of the week, there is a lot more than meets the eye when you go on a yoga retreat at Tambo Ilusion. The afternoon hike to a waterfall was spectacular, and the private lagoon is a lovely place to swim during free time. And the Reiki session, the first ever for me, was great!
Every day I was there I became healthier and more peaceful. The yoga and meditation practice, coupled with the beautiful environment, Jo and Armando's warm reception, delicious wholesome food, and my super comfy cabin, really made a difference to me. When I left at the end of the week feeling restored and positive, I also felt like I was leaving friends behind.
All in all, my week at Tambo Ilusion was a hugely positive experience, and I've come home recommending it to many of my friends and family. If you're considering it, I say go for it—I guarantee you won't regret it! Although I was just a relative beginner prior to visiting Jo and Armando, I now practice yoga most days. I have also decided to carry on learning Spanish and am slowly making progress!
