Have you ever wanted to just leave it all behind, live in a far-off land on top of a mountain-side and run away with the circus? Well, now you can!
That far-off land is the ever-fascinating Greece.
The top of a mountainside that you stay and play on overlooks a beautiful peninsula in Marathon. The location is easily accessible by car – just far enough away from civilization, but not too far.
You will get your daily dose of circus with aerial silks classes – all levels are welcome and no experience is necessary. We already know aerial yoga has plenty of benefits to the mind and the body, but you will be surprised by how fun it can be!
And the best part – you don’t have to clean up after any elephants, and your housing is a luxury villa (not a circus tent) that serves all Greek organic meals and delicious drinks.
Of course, I can’t forget about the massage included. That treat will be well-earned after discovering all of those new circus muscles.
The Daily Schedule to Expect
Daily activities start with an organic breakfast to fuel you for your morning aerial silks class. Organic Greek olive oil, fresh salty cheese, the best tomatoes you’ve ever tasted and many more surprises await.
After moving for a bit, you will enjoy a snack at the poolside to fuel you for your beach time, shops, daily excursion or whatever activity appeals to you that day.
A local, organic dinner follows your afternoon adventure and then we wind down by the pool with a restorative stretch or a yoga class.
The Special Classes You Can Take There
The beauty of this yoga and circus retreat is that you can also take two very special types of classes while you’re there.
You can choose between aerial yoga classes (but not your average aerial yoga kind, since it will be taught by a circus performer) and aerial skills classes.
Of course, there’s no one stopping you from doing both. In fact, it’s actually recommended! The aerial skills class will prepare you for the aerial yoga class better, and both of them will be extremely fun. Your vacation up in the air will be quite unforgettable!
Here is a bit more about each type of class, so you can know what to expect from the practice.
Aerial Skills Class
Aerial Skills are a beautiful combination of circus and dance utilizing special fabric to wrap yourself in order to create amazing shapes.
Sophisticated and elegant, the amalgamation of strength, flexibility, and artistry will have you flying in the air while secretly working out your entire body.
Aerial Yoga Class
Aerial Yoga uses the same special fabric but is tied in a different way in order to create a sling or hammock. This offers more support of your body weight in order to decompress and lengthen your spine while strengthening your core using traditional yoga poses.
How about the Restorative Yoga Class?
This first type of class will be taught in the evening, and it will prove just what you need after a day of flying.
Restorative Yoga, aka Sleepy-Time-Yoga, is a welcome addition to all aerial yoga retreats.
After a day of play we like to really wind down, let the body relax into the longer postures, and breathe as you transition to a good night’s sleep.
The daily combination of Aerial Silks and Restorative Yoga will have you strengthening and conditioning while learning to fly and then lengthening and stretching as you ground down and come back down to the earth.
