Restorative yoga poses are often deceivingly easy and simple. But the truth is, there is much more than meets the eye. The yoga poses that I show in this sequence are gentle but deep stretches that will help lengthen your muscles while allowing you to engage deeply in your breath.
These poses allow you to feel yoga in its most holistic sense. Because they are generally less strenuous than a dynamic yoga sequence, they give you the chance to connect to your breath more effectively.
Try to stay much longer than you usually do in these poses to gain the most benefit from them. As you concentrate on your pose, focus inward as well as on your mind. Keep it calm and still. Lengthen each breath, but at the same time keep them soft and fluid. This will help calm the mind and soothe the nervous system for an overall relaxing experience.
Finish this challenge with a short meditation practice. If you are new to meditation, utilize meditation apps to help guide you along. Finishing off with a meditation practice will leave you feeling energized and refreshed afterward.
