Welcome back to day 4 of our 7-day yoga challenge and congratulations for making it this far! Today, we’re returning to the mat to work on some twists poses with a mixture of standing twists and sitting twists.

Twist yoga poses are a great way to relief tension to the back as it helps release pressure and restore circulation to the affected area. Another wonderful benefit of twist poses is its ability to detoxify the body. By twisting, you will massage your inner organs and flush out unwanted toxins, making way for oxygen and nutrients to enter.

I start this sequence off with some standing twist before we transition into seated twists. Twists may be a challenge for some of us, so do utilize props where needed. As you twist, focus on twisting from the shoulders and not from the neck, if you feel any pressure on the neck, do come out of the pose. Try not to collapse the upper back as you twist. Instead, only go as far as you can maintain a straight line from one shoulder to the other.
