I was just speaking to a beautiful young lady about what she's been up to and, as I heard the words falling out her of mouth about the nine-month sabbatical and the countries she has been to, I could not help but sense the quiver in the voice and the stress in her eyes. There was a tension in her body and it was closing down her natural beauty and radiance.
To be conscious of the fact that, no matter where we are or how our life is, we are the only ones in control of how we respond to it, is one of the main keys to attractiveness, youthfulness and charisma.
The change needs to come from within, from the way we perceive and respond to life. Instead of responding to every event and stimuli with fear, worry or stress, we can respond with optimism, openness and trust. Only then can our whole being relax. This means our life energy will flow and we can constantly renew and regenerate ourselves and give out positive, life-affirming energy that attracts people.
People want to be around other people with good energy and good vibes. This is because everyone is subconsciously looking for good energy, which heals and gives us more life force and happiness. If someone is wearing designer clothes and looks like a model but they are hollow, disconnected and negative, this will be sensed immediately within our body when we meet them. Our body never lies.
If you feel that you respond to life’s various events with pessimism, stress and anxiety, I’m here to tell you that you’re not alone. I have felt like this throughout most my life and many other people do. But what we can do is to be thankful that we have this awareness and reflect on how we would like to respond in the future. Changing our perspective, and therefore our energy and charisma, requires awareness and cultivation. You can start by trying the following:
1. Come home to yourself
Every day, come home to yourself! Appreciate your mind, it is trying to protect you, and respect your body. Thank yourself for reaching this level of consciousness and being aware of the thoughts and perspectives of your mind. We need to accept ourselves and the place we are at and allow the desire for change to come from a place of self-love and acceptance. Send love and gratitude to your mind for its power and ability to focus.
From this place of gratitude and love for yourself, reflect on what current beliefs you may have about life that are not serving you and are draining you of precious life energy. For example: "The world is a scary place, life is hard, I’m unlovable, I'm not worthy of love and belonging, I don't deserve prosperity, money is bad, power is bad, I don't belong, bad things happen to me, etc."
3. Identify the source of your negative subconscious beliefs
Once you've identified some negative subconscious beliefs, ask yourself ‘are they true?’. Then ask yourself ‘where did they come from?’. Could it be your teachers, parents, peers, society, extended family? Begin by realizing that they are neither true nor untrue, they are just a perspective of our mind and how we see the world through our unique lens via our unique life experiences.
4. Know that your beliefs create your reality
Because our beliefs create our reality, choose your beliefs wisely. For example, if ‘money is bad’ and ‘I'm not worthy of love and belonging’ come up, write down the opposite: ‘money is an exchange of energy’ and ‘I am worthy of love and belonging’. Stick this mantra on your wall and look at it every day when you wake up. Say it, breathe it in and feel this truth in all the cells in your body. Declare this truth to yourself and celebrate it!
5. Be thankful
Approach your yoga practice with this awareness of the negative beliefs that come up. Thank the universe, God, divine energy (whatever feels right for you) for allowing this negative energy to flow out of your life and for the positive belief that replaced it.
Awareness, love and acceptance are key. When we connect and love both our good and dark parts, that’s when the magic happens. We become deeper, more passionate beings. This strong light glowing from deep within ourselves can be seen and felt by others, and it begins to positively affect them in ways we’d have never imagined.
