Nautilus wants to ensure that you can fully unwind and relax during your stay in Santa Teresa. Their experienced and professional massage therapists can offer you the best possible treatments to suit your needs and mood. Whether you want to relax, restore, rejuvenate, or heal they can provide just the right treatment. Indulge your senses and pamper your body.

They offer a wide array of massage services including Swedish massage, Thai massage, deep tissue massage, chocolate body scrub, myofacial release, and couple’s massage.

Deep tissue massage

Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissues. The massage therapist uses slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle. Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury. This is a great massage for surfers.

Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork that uses localized finger pressure in a rhythmic sequence on acupuncture meridians.

Each point is held for two to eight seconds to improve the flow of energy and help the body regain balance.

Swedish massage therapy

Massage therapists use long smooth strokes, kneading, and circular movements on superficial layers of muscle using massage lotion or oil. This modality is perfect for those who prefer gentle relaxation to deeper muscle manipulation.

Thai massage

Like shiatsu, Thai massage aligns the energies of the body using gentle pressure on specific points. Thai massage also includes compresses and stretches. The massage is done on a floor mat and the client is fully clothed in comfortable yoga clothing. The therapist moves your body into a sequence of postures, stretching the muscles and relaxing the joints. This is one of the most deeply relaxing massages available.

ATV tours

Go on an adventure and get off road on a quad or motorcycle for a ride up or down the coast or through the jungle. Cabuya and Montezuma are great places to explore. Discover secluded and beautiful beaches north of Playa Hermosa and Manzanillo where you can stop for a picnic lunch, a swim, and a nap under a tree.

Bicycle trips

Exotic bicycle trips on your own or with a guide for basic and advanced physical conditions.

Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve

Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve boasts 1250 hectares of forests and many kilometers of dramatic coastlines. The reserve is home to hundreds of animal and plant species. Hiking there boasts incredible flora and fauna. It is not uncommon to get up close with howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, and coati.

Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Nicoya Peninsula. Nautilus can help plan your ideal trip and exploration in this magical place.

Canopy zip line

Fly through the rainforest canopy. Rich with wildlife, this is an exhilarating way to experience the diversity of the Costa Rican jungle. With over a kilometer of zip line cable and nine platforms, this fast flying experience is a thrill to remember. Rest assured the tours adhere to the strictest safety measures.

Guests can relax and enjoy exciting views of the Pacific Ocean and the jungle from a whole new perspective up in the trees. After the canopy tour, you are welcome to hike the grounds and discover the many wonders of this landscape up close.

Curu National Wildlife Refuge

Curú National Wildlife Refuge and Hacienda is located at the southern Nicoya Peninsula and is thick with abundant wildlife. Curú hosts one of the most beautiful beaches and protected bays in the area. With rich opportunity to spot some of the most exciting and interesting species, visitors will catch sight of white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, white tailed deer, collared peccary, coati, raccoons, coyotes, iguanas, scarlet macaws, toucans, and hundreds of other tropical and migratory birds.

Curú is a wonderful example of a successful sustainable development program. The hacienda still boasts low levels of cattle grazing and produces tropical fruits for export. The refuge aims to produce a profit and sustain local employment while also protecting endangered habitats such as mangroves, tropical and dry forests, and coral reefs.

A unique sport fishing experience awaits you in Mal Pais where your fishing guides are all local fishermen who have grown up in the area, fishing the waters for years. Offshore, close to shore, or surf fishing are all offered. Should you decide to charter a boat, it will be a 24 or 28-foot panga. No fancy machines or fishing finders are needed. The local guides know the waters so well.

Your experience will be an authentic, organic one that you will never forget. At the end of the day, your guide will clean the fish and your catch of marlin, sailfish, rooster fish, yellow finned tuna, or red snapper will make for a terrific dinner back at the hotel. Also, many restaurants in the area will cook up for you or you can ask the concierge to help you hire a chef to come to your place and prepare the evening’s meal.

Hike in Curú Wildlife Refuge or Cabo Blanco National Park and experience wildlife on your own or with a guide.

Horseback riding

Explore the jungle and enjoy the sunset while galloping or riding on the beach.

Isla Tortuga

Consisting of two large uninhabited islands off the coast of the Nicoya Peninsula, near Paquera, the pristine white sand beaches and lush vegetation of Isla Tortuga invite guests to explore, relax, swim, and snorkel. During the boat ride over from Montezuma, you will have the opportunity to spot dolphins, turtles, and perhaps even a majestic whale shark if it is the right season.

You will also pass the Negritos and Guayabo Sanctuaries, where you will spot an abundance of sea birds and their nests. Often times, these tours include lunch and drinks and all the snorkeling gear you will need.

Kayak tour

Paddle out into the calm bays with your own kayak and explore the lush pacific coast line. Try spicing it up a bit with kayak surfing in the crashing waves on any of the awesome surf spots nearby. Beautiful reefs with abundant marine life and deep verdant mangroves add to the never ending wonders that you will discover while on your kayak adventure.

River in Cobano

Relax and swim at the fresh sweet water river of Cobano. This is recommended for picnics.

Scuba diving

Underwater adventure for beginners and advanced divers.

View the beautiful underwater wildlife in Mal País, Montezuma, and Tortuga Island.

Stand-up paddle

Start off in the river to get comfortable on the boards. Once you feel ready, take it to the ocean.

"The apartments are really nice, they are one bedroom apartments with a full kitchen/living room. The kitchen has a large fridge, coffee maker, mini oven, toaster etc. utensils are provided. The name of the hotel and the rooms is slightly misleading. Its not really a boutique hotel nor are the rooms villas. They are more liked serviced apartments. You get a key to your room and one for the front door of the hotel, there is a daily cleaning services and that's about it do not expect any more services, any pampering or amenities really (not even free water anywhere). That being said, I would still definitely recommend this hotel. The hotel is in a great location, the rooms are very nice, spacious and comfortable. There are great yoga classes given twice a day for 12 USD per class. There is also a restaurant that has very delicious and healthy food. There is easy access to Santa Teresa beach just walk down a road for a couple hundred meters."

"Nautilus Boutique Hotel is a gem in the jungle. It's only a few steps from the beach and also located in the middle of the colorful vegetation and wildlife. Each room is a private suite which has a plenty of space to stay. The staff will set you up for whatever activities you like, with the best Santa Teresa has to offer. If you have any inclination, take a surf lesson from Amit at Surf del Soul. The food is all fresh, organic and absolutely delicious. I usually try to get out and enjoy as much of the local flavors as possible, but I found myself eating at Olam a lot. It was just too good to be missed!"

"I have now stayed twice at the Nautilus, once in the green season and once in the high season. I love this place. The ambiance is special, peaceful, and zen. The management is friendly, very approachable and helpful. The rooms are large, well appointed and comfy. They are like apartments with kitchens and living rooms. Everything's is spotlessly clean. The restaurant is beyond compare. I saw that they were written up in the New York Times food section! Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everything is organic, healthy vegan/vegetarian fare and you can tell it was made with love! We did yoga twice a day most days and the classes were great. The yoga studio is above the restaurant with a wonderful ocean breeze to cool you off. We also had massages up there and that was a great experience! Just a quick walk to beach for surfing, swimming and to watch the sunset. A dip in the pool after dinner and the day is complete. The reception and the managers gave us lots of ideas for fun things to do,in the area and arranged everything for us. I can't think of anything I would change."

I'm not vegetarian but I absolutely loved their food. Beautiful hotel and just a short 100 meters of walk to some of the greatest sea!"

"My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Nautilus in January 2015. The food and service in their in-house restaurant were excellent. We especially appreciated the many vegetarian options. The hotel has a cozy feel with lots of plants and neatly clustered single story small buildings for rooms. Our room was spacious with a large bed, kitchenette, and large bath. We booked a duo massage which was completed on their yoga deck (above the restaurant) overlooking the ocean. We didn't drop into the daily yoga class but that is available. The hotel is well-located in Santa Teresa being just a short downhill walk to the beach and to the south the bakery (definitely worth a visit) and other restaurants in the more commercial section of the beach road. Overall Santa Teresa has a charming small surf town vibe and not over developed. If you are pressed for time in Costa Rica, taking a domestic flight into Tambor and short shuttle to the hotel is worth it. There is also a great sushi restaurant a short cab ride away north of hotel on beach road. Hotel also felt secure as there was a steel gate which was closed in the evenings."

"This is my new spot without question. The vibe and styling of Nautilus is impeccable. The restaurant is beyond amazing- and totally healthy. The yoga studio and pool are epic! Secure and off the main road. Rima, the manager and her husband and such good wholesome people. Stay here for sure. Pura vida."

"I highly recommend the Nautilus! Villas were nice, spacious, and clean. The food at Olam was delicious and healthy. Yoga in the jungle was amazing. The staff was very friendly and incredibly helpful throughout my stay. I had a number of flight issues traveling to Costa Rica (cancellations, delays, etc.) and Rima and the rest of the staff were there helping me along the way to figure out how to modify my travels accordingly once in Costa Rica. I also got something stuck in my foot running on the beach and they took me to the doctor to get it taken out. They were beyond wonderful! I cannot wait to come back!"

"The place is everything you want on your surf holiday in Costa Rica: clean, nice architecture, yoga, organic food and smoothies, amazing staff, etc. etc. If I had to pick on downside that would be the lack of a sea view. But that does not matter so much as you are at the beach in two minutes."
