Program

Sample daily schedule

Day 1 - August 10, 2020

You will be met at Kenneth Kuanda - Lusakas International Airport, then fly in a small aircraft to Mfuwe Airport. From Mfuwe Airport, you will be transferred to Kasikizi Bush Camp, about a three- to four-hour drive (in a closed vehicle), where you will be staying for the next four nights.

On arrival to Kasikizi, you will be welcomed by the team before settling into your accommodation. As the day draws to a close, you will find yourself in nature for an afternoon yoga practice as the sun sets. An incredible way to quiet your mind before dinner under the starlit skies.

Day 2 - August 11, 2020

Wake up to the calls of the birds as they welcome a new day in the beautiful Luangwa Valley while enjoying a coffee or tea before a morning yoga session. Take in the views as the morning hue lifts, the sun rises and the animals make their way out onto the plains.

After your morning game drive, you will have lunch at the camp where you can relax for the rest of the afternoon. You will meet again for a sunset yoga session followed by a three-course meal next to the fire.

Day 3 - August 12, 2020

This morning you can sleep in a little longer before meeting for a yoga session. After breakfast take some time to relax and enjoy the holiday part of the retreat.

In the afternoon, you will head out on foot with a professional guide in chance to spot amazing variety of birdlife, wildlife, and the fauna and flora in the riverine forest. Back at camp, you will relax as the sun sets, taking in the absolute beauty that surrounds you.

Day 4 - August 13, 2020

This morning calls for an early start as you will be heading out for another thrilling game drive to discover all that the Luambe wilderness has to offer. Back at the camp, you can relax before your afternoon yoga session as the sun sets.

Tonight is your last night around the camp fire, as tomorrow you will be heading to Malawi.

Day 5 - August 14, 2020

After your morning yoga session, you will fly with a small aircraft to your next destination. With it's almost supernatural vibe, there is nowhere else on earth quite like Kaya Mawa. Hidden away on Likoma Island in Lake Malawi, at Kaya Mawa you will be transported into a world of simple pleasures.

Settle into your private villa, take a dip in your private pool soaking up the sun or go for an optional massage at the spa.

Day 6 - August 15, 2020

Today is a beachy kinda day and you will be spending most of the day exploring the tranquility of Lake Malawi by kayak and stand up paddle boards.

After breakfast, you will paddle to the neighboring beaches where you can test your balance doing SUP yoga, followed by snorkeling to enjoy some of Lake Malawi's 1000 species of fish, many endemic to the lake.

After lunch, you will head out on another outing by kayaking to one of the smaller islands to admire the Mozambican coastline.

Day 7 - August 16, 2020

Choose one of the many optional activities the lodge has to offer, from scuba diving (which you can learn in three hours), kite surfing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing or sailing.

Another option is to explore Likoma Island by quad bike, visiting the cathedral built in 1905, Katundu textiles workshop, the majestic valley of the baobabs and some of the eleven local villages. The warmth of the locals will make you feel right at home on Likoma.

Tonight will be your last yoga session followed by dinner on the beach.

Day 8 - August 17, 2020

You can either sleep in enjoying the last bit of your private villa, go for a stroll on the beach, or even for one more snorkel. After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip in time for your departure flight back home.

(*)Please note:

Due to a few early activities, there will be no yoga in the morning and afternoon sessions will be longer. Same goes with afternoon activities, then morning sessions will be longer.

Retreat location

The retreat will be held in two Southern African countries: Zambia and Malawi. In Zambia, you will stay at Kasikizi Camp and in Malawi at Kaya Mawa Resort.

Kasikizi Camp - Zambia (Day 1 - 4)

Kasikizi Camp is an exclusive bush camp situated in the Luambe National Park, one of Zambia’s smallest national Parks. The camp will open July 2020 and consist of three grass chalets overlooking the floodplains, offering panoramic views of the Luangwa River.

The wildlife found in Luambe is similar to that of its larger neighboring parks and includes all the typical large herbivores, carnivores as well as some less well-known species. There are over 200 species of bird in Luambe and elephant populations as well as those of lion and leopard are said to be on the increase.

Habitat diversity in Luambe National Park is enormous and within a few kilometers the vegetation ranges from riverine forest, cathedral mopane woodland, floodplain acacia thickets to the sausage tree-dotted open grasslands of the Chipuka plains.

Kaya Mawa Resort - Malawi (Day 5 - 8)

Kaya Mawa is situated in an ultra-pristine part of the world and offers a truly unique experience. The island offers a golden sandy beach on the immense freshwater Lake Malawi.

The lodge has won numerous awards, notably most romantic safari property and best beach lodge in Africa, endorsed by leading publishers such as Conde Nast, Safari Awards, and Tatler for many years in a row.

A plethora of watersports are available as well as scuba diving, quad biking, local culture and some of the tastiest food in Africa. Kaya Mawas team of skilled chefs work to create exciting dishes that are inspired by local produce and ingredients grown themselves.

This fusion of flavors combined with relaxed dining ethos and the renowned humor of the Malawian waiting team, makes for an unforgettable dining experience, especially as each and every night dinner is out on the beach, under the stars.
