Join Marcel, your seasoned yoga teacher and expert guide, on a captivating two-week road trip through three Southern African countries. You will stay in various accommodations as outlined in the itinerary.
Go and explore three Southern African countries with Namaste Yoga Safari Namibia in 14 days. The tour will start in Namibia, driving through her majestic and forever-changing landscapes, all the way from the desert in the south to the wetlands in the north. Known for her natural beauty and wildlife, you can expect every day to be an adventure.
Onwards to Chobe National Park in Botswana, it is known for large herds of elephants, cape buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, and floodable grasslands that attract numerous bird species. The wildlife there is different from what you would experience in Namibia.
Your last stop will be Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, one of the World’s Seven Natural Wonders and an obvious must-visit and must-see destination. Besides the roaring falls that stand before the raging Zambezi River which in themselves are the true reason for the visit, there are a number of other exhilarating activities to partake in.
And of course, you'll have daily yoga out in-between all these natural landscapes.
If you are up for a wild adventure, then this trip is for you! Participants will be driving in a comfortable 4x4 Toyota Fortuner or a six-seater safari vehicle, depending on the size of the group, packing in about 2600 kms, unforgettable experiences, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Let Namaste Yoga Safari Namibia show you the best of these extraordinary places that they call home. It’s one of their favourite routes and cannot wait to share this with you. You deserve an adventure!
This is your chance to combine the serenity of yoga with the excitement of a once-in-a-lifetime journey through the heart of Africa. Don't miss the opportunity to make this yoga adventure an unforgettable part of your story!
Upon arrival in Windhoek, you'll have a city tour, then you can relax before meeting for dinner to discuss what the next two weeks of adventure have in store.
This day, you will head south to the oldest desert in the world. The drive is about four to five hours via the Spreetshoogte Pass and the views are not just only wow from 1,800 meters above sea level, but from there onwards, the landscapes will be forever changing.
Your eyes will not believe this and your heart will open up to this natural beauty. Think mountains, high sand dunes, and the occasional desert-adapted animal. You will stop at Solitaire, a quirky, almost lost little town set in the middle of nowhere. You can perhaps try a slice of the famous Apfelstrudel (apple pie) there before you reach your destination.
Settle into your accommodation, relax, and then meet for a sunset yoga session followed by dinner.
The day will start with an early morning as the gate to the park opens at sunrise. As you enter, you will stop over at Dune before heading further to Deadvlei / Sossusvlei.
Sossusvlei, undoubtedly Namibia's most iconic landscape, is located in the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The Namib Desert is the oldest desert in the world and stretches over 1,500 kilometers, with dunes reaching heights of 300 meters.
If you feel up for it, why not join Marcel and climb Big Daddy, admiring Deadvlei and its surroundings from above? There’s something so magical as you sit quietly and take in the energy of this desert.
After visiting Sesriem Canyon, you will head back to the lodge to cool off in the pool, relax, and admire the views. There will also be a sunset yoga session out in the desert.
After yoga and breakfast, you'll be heading to the Skeleton Coast for some fun activities, and of course, the fresh ocean breeze of the Atlantic Ocean.
Swakopmund, with its laidback feel, palm trees, great restaurants, and German colonial architecture, has various activities to choose from. Whether you want something active or more relaxed, or even a combination, this coastline will surprise you with what it has to offer.
There, you will be staying at Desert Breeze Lodge, offering peace, tranquility, and the ultimate desert experience. The luxury bungalows, with their creative atmosphere and the friendly staff, will make your stay one to remember. Breakfast will be at Desert Breeze, and lunch and dinner will be at one of Swakopmund's many cafes and restaurants.
Yoga sessions will be held either in the desert or on the beach, even both at the same time! Imagine your toes in the warm desert sand as you breathe in the freshness of the Atlantic Ocean. You probably won’t ever see a view like that anywhere else in the world.
Optional activities include dune boarding, quad biking, camel riding, horse riding, ocean safari with champagne breakfast, surfing, kayaking, fat wheel biking, cultural tours, Living Desert tour, Cape Cross / seal tour, Spitzkoppe tour, scenic flights, and Sandwich Harbour 4x4 tours.
After breakfast, you will head along the coast to visit the Zeila wreck and then onwards to Spitzkoppe.
Spitzkoppe, Namibia’s "Matterhorn," is a breathtaking granite peak surrounded by striking desert landscapes, offering a haven for adventure, ancient art, and serene moments in nature. You will head out for a hike up the mountain in search of the Bushman engravings, followed by sunset yoga / meditation and dinner around the campfire.
Your next stop will be Etosha National Park, Namibia’s greatest Wildlife sanctuary, situated in the northern part of the country. You will be staying at a lodge close to the entrance of Etosha’s southern gate. If early enough, you might set out to Etosha National Park for a sunset game drive. After dinner, you will visit a neighboring lodge for some African music.
You will head into the park early, as its gates open at sunrise. You will take your time this day, driving from the Southern gate towards the Eastern gate where your next lodge is situated. You will stop over at numerous waterholes and also stop at the Pan.
There at the park, the wildlife sightings offer over 114 species of mammals and 340 species of birds. Etosha has exceptional wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, wildebeest, giraffes, hyenas, zebras, springboks, kudus, gemsboks, and elands.
This game park is unlike any other, and photographs of animals in front of the pan make this a very unique and special place to visit. The day will be all about wildlife, and driving through the park, you can expect the unexpected.
You will leave the park at sunset and settle into your luxurious accommodation, have dinner, and sit around the campfire, listening to the sounds of nature.
You'll have morning yoga, followed by breakfast. This day, you will head into the Caprivi, Namibia's wetlands. Should you be interested in geology, you can stop at the Hobas Meteorite - the largest in the world.
Take time to stretch your legs as there will be a long drive ahead of you. En route, you will start to see the change in landscape and scenery as the Caprivi becomes more green and lush - quite a contrast from where you started. There, it is subtropics, plains, rivers, and abundant wildlife.
Arriving at the lodge, you will have a relaxed afternoon, followed by a yoga session and dinner at the lodge.
After breakfast, you will head into Mahangu Game Reserves for wildlife viewing. Only a 10-minute drive from the lodge, you will have the opportunity to spot four out of the Big Five. Elephants, buffalo, lions, and leopards are very present at that park. It is much smaller than the Etosha National Park and is perfect to visit for only a few hours.
You will head back to the lodge for lunch. Enjoy the afternoon to relax or perhaps treat yourself to a spa treatment. In the afternoon, you will also go for a boat cruise on the Okavango River, a chance to spot your first hippo and crocodile. Bird lovers will also be entertained by the fish eagle and various other bird species.
The Okavango River is the fourth-longest river system in southern Africa, running southeastward for 1,600 km. It begins in Angola, where it is known by the Portuguese name Rio Cubango. Further south, it forms part of the border between Angola and Namibia, and then flows into Botswana, flowing into the Moremi Game Reserve, also known as the Okavango Delta.
Before it enters Botswana, the river drops four meters in a series of rapids known as Popa Falls, which you will also get to see on the boat ride.
Enjoy the last night under the Namibian skies before heading over to Botswana tomorrow.
This day, you will depart Namibia and head into Botswana after an early morning yoga session and breakfast. You will drive through Katima Mulilo and cross Ngoma Bridge to enter Botswana. After clearing customs and immigration, you will drive through Chobe National Park to head to the lodge near Kasane.
Upon arrival at the lodge, take some time to relax and enjoy the sunset over the Chobe River.
This day, there will be one morning activity and one afternoon activity scheduled with the lodge. These activities include water safaris on the Chobe River or a game drive through the Chobe National Park. Following your morning activity, you will be back at the lodge for lunch. Afterward, you will have time to unwind and enjoy the surroundings before diving into a yoga session before the afternoon activity.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the accommodation in Victoria Falls, the adventure paradise! The drive will take about an hour but it is dependent on customs and immigration. Then, settle in and go have some fun!
Activities to choose from include water adventure, game viewing, sundowner river cruises, scenic flights, craft markets, elephant safaris, adrenal fixes with bungee jumping, gorge swinging, and skydiving; lunch on Livingstone Island on the edge of the falls; canoeing safari above the falls.
Dinner will be at one of the famous restaurants - think bonfire, music, and dancing.
