Nadia Moon

The yoga asana, pranayama, and meditation classes will be led by Nadia Moon, a 500-hour certified Yoga Alliance teacher who has formed her yoga experience in between India and England, the two faces of the same coin. They are designed to rejuvenate, reinvigorate, and to make you feel more energized and at the same time more relaxed and connected to the peacefulness around you and within you.

The classes are also designed to wake up your joints, muscles, chakras, as well as your inner peace. The two main sources of inspiration for Nadia are Guruji Pardeshi's Hatha yoga from the Indian side, with a classical Hatha yoga flow, and teachers Stewart Gilchrist and Amanda Denton from the English side, with a Dynamic Yoga asana in vinyasa flow, a moving breathing meditation.

il Canneto di Pomaia is a traditional Tuscan style villa surrounded by green stretches and magnificent views of rolling hills, which fosters a unique sense of relaxation. Away from the traffic and the chaos, il Canneto di Pomaia is a place to reinvigorate your mind, body, and soul. They offer a private pool and tennis court, which also doubles as a 5-a-side football pitch. The tranquil surroundings provide an ideal respite from the surrounding cities.

il Canneto di Pomaia's prime location places it in the cultural center of Tuscany, with many beautiful spots full of culture, history, architecture, and art. Nearby cities include the ancient city of Lucca, with its intact renaissance-era city walls, the lovely medieval city of Siena, with its world famous central piazza, Il Campo (featured in the James Bond movie Quantum of Solace), Pisa and it's leaning tower, and Firenze, the cradle of the renaissance full of museums, palaces, and churches filled with some of the greatest artistic treasures in the world.

Despite being near some of the most famous Italian cities, the village of Pomaia itself has a very unique charm. Pomaia belongs to the municipality of Santa Luce and is one of the most picturesque places in the province of Pisa. It is also home to the largest Tibetan Buddhist centre in the western world: "The Lama Tzong Khapa Monastere" which offers classes and courses that are open to the public on the weekends throughout the year. It has also been the home of the holy Dalai Lama for some time. Also, the lake of Santa Luce and many seaside Etruscan villages are both less than a 25 minute drive from il Canneto di Pomaia.

Thai Yoga massage – 1h €50 / 1,30h €70

The ancient discipline of traditional Thai Massage, developed in India, spread in Thailand in the third century AC by the Buddhist monks and it was practiced till our days to realize mental qualities like awareness, lovingness and equanimity, obtained through Vipassana meditation.

Thai Yoga Massage is developed in a flowing and harmonic way, with pressures on the energy lines on our body and with a soft movements of stretching (passive yoga asana). It’s called "The Sacred Dance" through which the energy can start again to flow, to unblock energy stagnation, and provide body and emotional wellness.

It is helpfull to obtain a deep relaxation, tissue flexibility, good blood and lymphatic circulation, detox the cells, line up the posture, and balance the energy channels.

The Thai Yoga massage is performed on the floor on a mat, in a deep hearing and awareness of the breathe and the heart with a conscious Divine presence.

Full body oil/relaxing anti-stress massage – 1h €50 / 1,30h €70

This massage is like a dance. Without ever interrupting the contact with the person, hands are used gently and work together with the whole body, without any pressure and physical strength, so that the positive energy can be transferred and flows during the hand massage.

It works on 3 level: physical: purifies, promotes blood and lymph circulation, improves the detoxifying function, improves muscle tone, appearance and posture and stretches tissues; psychic: it’s relaxing, helps feeling aware and self confident about ourselves and the others; energetic: unblocks energy channels, revitalizes mind and body.

Invigorating and body shaping massage – 1h €50

Other than to obtain a deep physical and mental relaxation, this is a special massage to tone up the muscles before or after intense physical activities or simply to verve to the strips of muscles. As a result we have the “body-shaping” because all of the tissues receive benefits, while setting and getting up a new beauty.

De-Contracting massage – 1h €50 / 1,30h €70

This massage integrates several western and eastern manipulation techniques, including finger pressure, friction, kneading massage, pulling massage and delimitation. All of them promote well-being of muscles, joints and bands of connective tissue. It is adapt to dissolve the physical affection caused by muscle pain or energy stagnation, and reactivate the own vitality, bringing a pleasant sensation of lightness and physical/energetic well-being.

Back and neck massage – 1h €50

This massage on the back and neck can be a solution to solve tensions caused by bad posture, backache, headache or simply resolving and relaxing all musculature starting from the base of spinal column and arriving to the nape. The benefit is a deeper relaxation and a renewed physical flexibility.

Lymphatic drainage (vodder method) – 1h €50 / 1,30h €70

It is one of the most popular western massage therapy. It was created by doc. Emil Vodder in the 1932 for the treatment of lymphatic system disorders. It brings a good variety of benefits.

Lymph drainage is particularly useful in case of edema, water retention, cellulite, lymphatic congestion caused by surgery (ex. Liposuction, mastectomy)and can be applied on clients who suffer from a sluggish immune system. It improves the microcirculation of blood and it’s regenerating, healing and relaxing.

It consists on a gentle, slow and soft manual massage, for the whole body or just the face and it is responsible for moving toxins away, stimulates lymph vessels and reduces the level of stress in a pleasant and relaxing way.

Metamorphic technique (help to transform) / Feet massage – 1h €50

The Metamorphic Technique is a revolutionary way of looking at life and bringing about positive change to it. It can help to release the energy and remove blockages and fears.

All our physical, mental and emotional behavior are activated during the gestation period: the spine reflexology points located in feet, hands and head are recognized when performing massage and the formative period is brought back through these areas.

Through this work the essential life force of the patient releases the energies that were impeded during the prenatal period and setting free the healing processes of the mind body and spirit. This technique does not have the intention to heal any particular symptoms, but it’s about realising deep energy blocks. It helps to bring about positive changes to clients life.

It is a gentle and soothing massage of feet, hands and head, giving peaceful and relaxing moments.

Reiki – 1h €50

It is an oriental practice useful to rebalance the body energy system.

The word Reiki represents the union between the Supreme power (rei) and the life force energy (ki) of each creature. During a reiki treatment the hands are placed on various points of the body for few minutes to restore the smooth flow of energy throughout the body. Reiki is used to help in the same time on the mental, physical and spiritual levels of being.

It is useful to promote relaxation, well-being and it also helps expanding your awareness and self confidence.

"This summer I went to the yoga retreat from Nadia Moon in Tuscany. She was an excellent teacher with a lot off patience and she could bring me in a smooth way much further and more relaxed in the yoga postures. I'm happy because I can do it now also myself. The yoga week was a perfect balance between excellent yoga classes, very good and with love cooked vegetarian meals, the enjoy of wine and culture and all this with a beautiful view on the landscape. Included was also the best fullbody massage I ever had! I also enjoyed the trips to Lucca, Pisa and Florence, specially because off our friendly and gallant driver;-) I could forget my job at home completely and lost all stress."

"About the bed and breakfast il Canneto di Pomaia; a perfect paradise. I had a nice singleroom with a big bed and lovely cosy furniture. The house had thick walls and the windows good shutters and insect screens so the room stayed nice cool and the windows good stay open in the night without any insects. I did't wake up at night once...I do at home."

"Even with a group you can always find a nice quiet place to sit and enjoy the view. Also the swimmingpool is big enough and has all the things to make a sunbath luxery."

"A perfect stay and I really like to come back!"

"I have just returned from a week in paradise...my 5th yoga retreat (and second with Nadia which tells you something), and I think this might have become my new favourite. Beautiful place- converted farmhouse in the Tuscan countryside with a lovely pool. Out of this world vegetarian food using local fresh ingredients. Amazing group of like minded people to spend the week with. And brilliant yoga tuition from Nadia, plus meditation in the evenings. All this plus two of the best massages I've ever had and day trips to the beautiful Florence, Pisa and Lucca. Perfection "

"I think this might be one of the best holidays I have ever had (and I've had a lot!). Amazing food, company, setting, teaching, wine, excursions - this is a true gem. A family run farmhouse makes it extra special and intimate, with care, love and attention going into every aspect of the stay."

"I stumbled across this heavenly retreat by accident while searching yoga retreats. I wanted to travel alone, meet like-minded people. get more confident at Yoga, learn to meditate (having given up many times!) and experience the beauty and culture of Tuscany. That's a lot to ask in a holiday but all of it exceeded my expectations."

"LOCATION: An incredible spot in the middle of the rolling Tuscan countryside, about an hour South of Pisa. Panoramic views, stunning sunsets, clear skies with hundreds of stars. Hammocks, a lovely swimming pool, tennis courts, lots of places to relax and have privacy. A perfect place for peace and contemplation. Silence and nature all around."

"Yoga and meditation takes place at a purpose built Yoga Shala outside with incredible views, a gentle breeze and nice finishing touches."

"ACCOMMODATION: A lovely farmhouse divided into apartments. I had a lovely apartment with a kitchen (coffee/tea provided), a double bedroom and my own bathroom. I chose not to share but that option is available and the twin rooms are great. Only one other person was in my apartment and every day it was tidied/cleaned and nothing ever ran low! "

"Outside the apartment was a little table with chairs and sunbeds. Nets on the windows to keep out flies/mosquitoes and shutters to keep the light out if you like a dark room. No air con but not needed as a gentle breeze all around. "

"FOOD: Well this was one of the best bits! The love, care and attention that went into the menu everyday was just outstanding. THE best food I’ve ever had. This is not a detox holiday -it's a chance to appreciate and experience Tuscan cuisine at its best. Vegetarian food all made onsite with fresh local produce by a brilliant and lovely Chef. "

"Breakfast was fruit picked from the trees, cereals, yoghurt, biscuits, homemade jam, coffee, tea, juice. Lunch was salad, olives, a different homemade past each day (the best tomato sauce, pesto, gnocchi I've EVER had), homemade bread. Dinner - homemade soup (Tuscan bean, chickpea, carrot etc.), cheeses, homemade bread, frittatas, flans, quiches and the BEST Tiramisu ever tasted! Local Chianti, a homemade Limoncello one night."

"Prosecco and Pizza from the wood fired outside oven on the final night was one particular highlight. All eaten outside under the sun or stars."

"TRAVEL: I got a flight with BA from Gatwick to Pisa airport (and returned to Stanstead via Ryan Air). Good prices. Transfers from Pisa airport included- the driver was waiting for me on arrival (my luggage didn't arrive but this was all dealt with so nicely with someone picking up my bag later on in the day for me!). 1 hour lovely drive."

"DAILY SCHEDULE: This was perfectly balanced. 9am Yoga (I got up at 8am to read, write in my journal and enjoy the peace). Yoga until 10.30am. After Yoga breakfast was ready to eat outside. Free time until 1.30pm (I spent it lying on hammocks or by the pool reading)!. Beautiful lunch at 1.30pm, free time until 6pm (unless there was an excursion) and meditation at 6pm until 7.30pm. Dinner at 8pm. We usually chatted a little longer after dinner and people either went to bed, sat under the stars etc. "

"EXCURSIONS: were all very well chosen and timed. Florence was about 1 hr 20 min nice drive away and we had about 5 hours there. Some of us went off and had a nice leisurely lunch (pizza!) and then I went off and walked around. Some booked ahead to the galleries (recommended) but you need a few hours. Pisa and Lucca were done in an afternoon (the latter is a walled city and very special). I went to the beach in the afternoon on the final day (optional). Wine Tasting at the local vineyard was my favourite night. It wasn’t rushed, just a leisurely walk around the vineyards with a great step by step explanation from the lady at the Vineyard. We sat for hours on a table overlooking the sunset trying the white, rose and red wines. We all brought some too! "

"The retreat includes a 1.5 hour oil massage which is done outside on the Yoga Shala in a private curtained off area. The masseuse Simone was incredible. You could have extra ones in the week for a good price."

"YOGA/MEDITATION AND THE TEACHER: Nadia is an incredible teacher. She takes the time to explain why you are doing what you are doing! I’ve never had that in a yoga before – I’ve never understood why I am breathing a certain way (and how to do it correctly and why it helps). Understanding it is the first part, and then the practice makes more sense and becomes easier."

"I'm not a regular to Yoga but this is for ALL Levels so you can stretch yourself as far as you want. There is NO pressure at all in the classes. By the end of the week I was much stronger, better at balancing and pushed myself a little further. "

"I struggled with the meditation at first as I am awful at sitting still (and my mind races a lot). Again, Nadia guides you through it so it becomes easier. On day 1 I was fidgety and my mind was racing, my legs kept getting numb. By the end of the week I was amazed at how long I could sit still and how still my mind was. Since I’ve been back I’ve done a little every day and it’s been so much easier. "

"Whatever level you are at with yoga/meditation this is a perfect retreat to learn, improve and pick up some spiritual guidance. We did a new moon gratitude ceremony which was lovely, everyone on the retreat was kind, like-minded and fun. All of us had arrived alone but left as friends and will stay in touch. "

"I cannot recommend this enough. Especially if you live in a city (like I do) and have a busy life and a busy mind. A week of good company, good food, a peaceful setting, immersion into Italian and Tuscan culture, nice wine, interesting excursions, yoga, meditation and spiritual guidance will really help sort out your head, your heart and your body!"

"This was my first ever yoga retreat and it's completely surpassed my expectations. The retreat created a perfect balance between a health and wellbeing retreat and a fantastic holiday. Highlights include the incredible authentic tuscan food, wine tasting overlooking the countryside and meeting new and likeminded people that I've created friendships with. I came back having a real feel for Italian culture and feeling uplifted and inspired. A huge smile comes across my face just thinking about it. I've been recommending it to all my friends!"

The setting was unbelievably beautiful, the yoga both spiritually and physically nourishing. The hospitality, the homemade food, the accommodation were all outstanding. I would recommend without hesitation and will be returning again for another retreat."
