During this retreat, you will be staying at Mountain Monk Yoga Retreats' accommodation, known as West Wood. This is a private cottage situated in the hills in Manali, Himachal Pradesh State, India. With the majestic grandeur of the Himalayas on one side, river Beas cutting across the town, verdant valleys and grazing herds dotting the hillsides, apple orchards, and the folk music adding romance to the ambiance, Manali presents a wondrous canvas to the traveler.

Encounter an adventure on the myriad trekking trails and routes while skiing on the snow slopes or rafting down the Beas river. As its magical charm enamors, you will ebulliently agree that it has rightly been christened as the valley of the gods.

Mountain Monk Yoga Retreats India Program

This intensive and wholistic spiritual retreat, led by Guru Yogacharini Amrita, will bring over 20 years of dedicated research and personal experience to her unique teachings, as well as remarkable wisdom about the science of yoga.

This retreat is an intensive course requiring commitment and discipline, especially designed for sincere advanced practitioners of yoga and meditation, as many ancient yogic techniques will be taught. Below are specific yoga techniques that will be taught in this retreat:

Bandhas and mudras (locks and seals)

Yogacharini Amrita
Yogacharini Amrita is a writer, author, spiritual teacher, and educator. Apart from being a keen trekker, she is also a qualified yoga and meditation master in the tradition of Rishiculture Ashtanga yoga taught by Yogamaharishi Dr. Swami Gitananda Giri Guru Maharaj of Pondicherry, South India. This makes her the marketing, teaching, and preaching guru of yoga and meditation at Mountain Monk Yoga Retreats. She strives to empower others through her many workshops, programs, seminars, and articles.

Retreat location

This retreat will take place in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, India. Manali, at 6,500 feet above sea level, stands high in the clouds. A dreamy Himalayan hill station widely acclaimed as the queen of hill stations, Manali’s charm is legendary and enchanting, where one holiday is just the beginning for many more to come.

Beyond the forbidding heights of Greater Himalayas and by the banks of the shining river Beas, lies the fabled silver valley, Kullu - also known as the valley of the living gods. Small villages and hamlets occupy a large part of the valley, which is a rich blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Passing through these villages, you will feel as if you have stepped into a new world altogether. The surroundings, the people, and their customs and traditions will leave you completely awestruck. The snow covered peaks, sparkling rivers, dense forests, terraced fields, and apple orchards have a magical effect on a tired soul. It is a landscape tinted by golden sunsets, silvery snow, and a rolling meadows dotted with wild flowers, a place to lift your spirits and discover your divinity within.

Himachal Pradesh, or the dev bhumi (the land of the gods), is nestled in the lap of the Himalaya. It holds an enviable diversity of mountain landscapes, a rich culture, and several entertainment opportunities. Its snow covered peaks, deep gorges, lush green valleys, thick woods, fast flowing rivers, enchanting lakes, and flower filled meadows make it a traveler’s paradise.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). From New Delhi, you can travel to Manali either by flight, Volvo bus, or private taxi. Volvo bus or taxi are recommended as flights are unreliable due to bad weather. Traveling time is around 12 hours by road. Volvo bus usually leaves from New Delhi late in the evening and reach Manali by early morning. Assistance for booking and transfers are available on request at an extra cost.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 40% of the total price.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 28 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
