Day 1

Arrival at Marrakesh Menara Airport (RAK). Transfer to a beautiful riad in the heart of the ancient medina. Enjoy a traditional hammam and massage. Later, you will meet the team and your group, just before dinner

Day 2

After morning yoga and meditation circle, you will be met at the riad, by your drivers, with 4×4 transport to journey along the ancient caravan route towards the Sahara Desert. After passing through the stunning High Atlas Mountains to the desert gateway town of Ouarzazate, you will arrive at the hotel, which has a pool, for an afternoon to relax.

Enjoy a 30-minute consultation with Sue or Rebecca to set your goals and intentions for the retreat. Afterwards, there will be an evening circle and Reiki attunement, followed by a dinner on the terrace under the stars.

Day 3

After morning meditation circle, you will start your journey into the heart of the Sahara. You will go through the town of Foum Zguid and take an exciting off-road drive towards the high dunes, where you will meet the camels that will take you for a short trek to the first night’s camp in the Sahara.

The Berber team will have set up a beautiful nomadic camp where you will stay. The camp will also have a lounge tent and rugs around the campfire to relax. After sunset yoga, you will be served a delicious Moroccan meal and listen to a traditional Berber drumming under a huge sky of falling stars.

Day 4 and 5

You will wake to the stunning sunrise of the Sahara Desert for morning mediation and circle, followed by yoga to start the day. During the next two days, you will enjoy a private Reiki treatment with Rebecca, a private coaching session with Sue, and time to process your own thoughts and any individual practices that Sue might suggest to support your journey.

During the day, you can spend time walking the high dunes or taking an independent camel trek, relaxing in the lounge tent, and even sand boarding! At sunset, you will come together with others for yoga in a beautiful location in the dunes before dinner. The Berber hosts will also be giving drumming and turban tying workshops.

Day 6

After morning meditation and yoga, the camel trekking team will arrive for a half-day trek through the desert and meet the 4×4 drivers. You will head out of the Sahara to the town of Zagora to stay in a desert lodge with cool, pretty gardens, where you can take a shower and relax before a celebration dinner on your last night in this region.

Day 7

After breakfast, you will be driven directly back to the riad in Marrakech, stopping for lunch and arriving in time for drinks on the terrace before dinner.

Day 8

Spend any free time in Marrakech before your flight home, wandering the souks, enjoying another hammam and massage, or simply relaxing before you driver arrives for the transfer to the airport.

Coaching is a discipline of exquisite attention. A coach has no agenda other than to support you as you reflect, plan, dream, consider, and move forward. This kind of skilfull attention helps you to listen to and actually hear yourself, to be in the moment with your thoughts, and to show up to yourself.

Coaching as a form of one-to-one or group processing has similarities to counselling and mentoring, yet is a very different approach. Coaching will not typically advise, suggest, or teach. The experience of coaching, of having a trained person give you a really good listening to, may be therapeutic although it is not a therapy.

Sue will walk alongside you, a witness to the one who starts the retreat and to the one who journeys. Rumi, a 12th century mystic asked: Who is it that lives here in the centre of my chest?. Many retreat journeys pose, ponder, and even answer that and other questions such as, What mark am I making on the world? or Where do I go from here?.

Whether you come with questions, concerns, hopes, dreams, to work something through, or simply to rest and rejuvenate, coaching can help you to achieve what it is you want during your retreat.

Yoga is the perfect way to develop a strong and healthy body. It also calms your mind and frees you from the stresses of every day life. Yoga can help you feel joyful again and return you to a deeper knowing of your true self. On this Sahara retreat, you will arrive in a place of great beauty to experience yoga, Reiki, and coaching with a group of like-minded people, allowing you to unwind, reconnect, and get perspective.

Yoga with Rebecca is a combination of Hatha and Ashtanga and is a dynamic practice, which embodies the true philosophy of yoga. She places an importance on the breath to help bring a balanced union to body and mind. When you are in the Sahara Desert, one of the most powerfully energetic places on earth, this practice can provide a profound experience of connection.

During this retreat, you will have the opportunity to enjoy two camel trekking trips through the Sahara.

  • Rebecca Hutley

Rebecca is an English who grew up in Africa. She has spent her life working and travelling around the world, both independently and within corporate roles. As a Reiki master who has been running retreats in Morocco for four years, she understands how the wellbeing element of any holiday can greatly enhance the experience. Rebecca's yoga is a combination of Hatha and Ashtanga and is a dynamic practice, which embodies the true philosophy of yoga. She places an importance on the breath to help bring a balanced union to body and mind.

  • Sue White

Sue is an award winning and accredited master coach and guide, committed to supporting people to take the journeys that help them realize their potential. She brings flexibility, humor, and a passion for growth. She has guided personal journeys in the Sahara Desert and in the canyons and mountains of North America. Sue has been facilitating group and individual processes for over 30 years and is fascinated by the art of communication.

This retreat will take place in Erg Chegaga, Sahara, Morocco.

During this retreat, you will be served healthy and fresh Moroccan meals. The meals included are seven breakfasts, seven dinners, and two lunches. Water will be provided with each meal.

  • Enjoy independent camel treks
  • Go sandboarding
  • Relax by the pool or in the lounge tent
  • Walk the high desert dunes

During this retreat, you will enjoy a Reiki treatment and attunement, a traditional hammam with gommage and rhassoul mud, and one massage session.

Reiki treatment and attunement

Reiki is a way of being, a method of re-aligning yourself with a healthy, balanced version of who you are. It has taken on many elements whilst being shared throughout the Western world, focusing mainly on the healing element of the form.

Rebecca practices and teaches Reiki as a whole form; incorporating meditation, contemplation, the healing art, and discussion. She sees it as a doorway through which you can access more of the powerful potential you have as human beings.

On this retreat, you will receive a Reiki treatment from Rebecca and also a Reiki attunement. This is the process of opening the door and can support your journey by bringing a greater awareness of self and a deeper connection to your own being.

"Our six days in Morocco were exceptional. Our guide and driver, Ali, was extremely welcoming, knowledgeable, and dedicated to ensuring we had an amazing trip. After being picked up from the airport, we headed straight out of Marrakech to the stunning Atlas Mountains. Over the next few days, we had a varied itinerary, always having the choice of whether we wanted to stop at a certain place. For argan oil, handmade pottery, and Berber rugs, making a trip south to the cooperatives, where the products are handmade by the local people, is a must; we were able to meet the people who made them and be shown around without feeling pressured to buy. Without a doubt, the highlight of the trip was our stay in Erg Chegga desert camp. After surviving the off-roading to get there, we arrived in time to climb the sand dunes and watch the sun set, followed by a candle lit dinner and night outside under the stars; a magical experience. It was an early start the next morning to watch the sun rise and head out on the camels before the temperature got too hot. "

"The trip overall was amazing, exceeding all expectations. We stayed in a different accommodation each night and all was of a good standard, our favorite being a night in a cave built into Dades Gorge, organized especially by our brilliant driver. Ali really went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic trip, even organizing a birthday party for me on our last night, complete with personalized cake and guests from around the world! It was certainly a trip to remember and we would definitely return!"

"From beginning to end, the trip with Moroccan Journeys was absolutely perfect. Rebecca was incredibly helpful in giving us information on what we should expect and making us feel confident in our decision to travel with Moroccan Journeys. Mohammed was knowledgeable, accommodating, and friendly. Driving from Marrakech to M'Hamid was a wonderful way to experience the countryside. Mohammed was a capable and confident driver and was always willing to stop for a picture! The accommodations and food arranged along the way were incredible. Beautiful, clean hotels, and lots of delicious Moroccan food. Once in M'Hamid, Mehdi, Lahssan, and the rest of the crew met us with the horses that would take us about 75 kilometers from M'Hamid to Erg Chegaga. The experience was absolutely incomparable. The horses, owned by the Atlas Film Studio, were all well mannered, fit, and very well taken care of. The entire crew was gracious, knowledgeable and inviting. Singing and telling riddles around a campfire in the middle of the Sahara was an absolutely surreal experience. Thank you to the entire team at Moroccan Journeys for making a real dream come true!"

"When the word bespoke is used about travel design, the bar is set really high for the organizers in terms of expectations. Rebecca and Mohammed, with the cross cultural team from Moroccan Journeys, clear that bar! A journey without flexibility is only a destination. This is an exploration and an adventure. From organization through to each moment of the experience, they pay exquisite attention to each traveler, constantly looking to adjust and flex the itinerary to meet the changing or emerging hopes of each individual."

"Whether its the cultural feast of the senses that is the Souk, the beautiful arches of the carefully chosen riads lit by ruby red lamps and opening into quiet courtyards, driving through snow covered mountains, careful and expertly handled group process, being taken by your camel with its melodic, hypnotic, undulating gait across the immense and silent expanse of the desert, sleeping in a cozy nomadic tented camp under the dazzling stars, guided by local experts who really know what they're talking about, or nourished by gorgeous sizzling dishes, all aspects of this experience are selected and facilitated with integrity, passion, humility, wisdom, humor, courage, and creativity."

"We had not been to Morocco before so put our trust in Rebecca that everything would be fine. It was absolutely great and the people treated us so well. Our driver to the Sahara was Mohamed, who was a great companion and had exceptional experience in driving through the sometimes rough and hazardous terrain. We were never pushed to visit this or that place and stopped where we wanted to, which was much more relaxing. The Atlas Mountains are spectacular and the Sahara is incredible and well worth the journey. Overall a great adventure."

"On our trip to the Sahara, which we booked with Rebecca, Mohamed was our driver and he answered all our questions as we traveled through the Atlas Mountains. We stopped to buy some crystal rocks and for lunch where the people serving us were friendly and helpful."

"We stayed at a hotel in M'hamid, just before the desert, which was a good standard and had a pool. In the morning, we set off quite early just after sunrise to the nomad camp. Mohamed helped us pack up and we drove for two hours over the sand dunes."

"When we got there, the staffs were welcoming and we were shown to our tents. The standard of the tent was good and the beds comfortable. In the afternoon, we walked up the high dunes to go sandboarding and later had drinks at sunset. After dinner, the fire was lit and we danced and sang to the drummers in the evening."

"It was a great experience and I would love to go back again. At the end of the trip in Marrakech, Mohamed drove us to the airport and wished us a good journey home. Overall, I would say that Moroccan Journeys gave us an extraordinary and wonderful adventure."

"My friends and I had a very short amount of time in Morocco so Moroccan Journeys organized a bespoke tour for us. We traveled from Marrakech to Fez in three days, via the Sahara, for some camel riding and camping out under the stars. I organized the tour from the United Kingdom with very little notice and it was a very efficient, stress free process. Morocco is an incredible country, with some of the nicest people I have ever encountered while travelling."

"We were picked up at airport immediately clearing customs and swiftly taken to the 4x4. Mohamed talked us through the various points of interest on the way into the Atlas Mountains. He was a careful and considerate driver. After our stay, he was at the hotel early and quickly loaded up our bags. We had a lovely drive back to Marrakech. After a couple of days relaxing, we asked Moroccan Journeys to set up a guide for a walk round the medina and the next day a drive to Essaouira. "

"The city and medina guide and driver, Abdul and Hassan, were excellent; timely and brim full of knowledge. We had a plenty of time to investigate everything we had planned to see. Mohamed was our driver to Essaouira. A truly excellent day out. We had a lovely lunch at a beach side cafe; great beach views. Then, we were taken to the medina and agreed two hours to explore. We had Mohamed's telephone number in case we got lost! We loved the medina and working harbour. So busy and so many fish merchants. Do not hesitate to use Moroccan Journeys. We will plan next trip with them to Morocco again."
