"Moonraker was great Steve is a great guy and so are all the staff. Me and my husband enjoyed the pool a lot. Only thing I would say is the restaurant should stay open a bit later. Would stay again here"

"Great waterfront location, with surfer vibe. Restaurant, bar, pool, excellant live music. Kitesurfing, windsurfing & surfing all nearby. Waterman's retreat. We've stayed four times and it keeps on getting better. Saltwater Pool was no nice addition."

"We were referred to Moonraker by a friend, as it did not appear in our Barbados travel guide. We found this place to be a hidden gem where we had the opportunity to experience a true Caribbean vacation. The atmosphere was laid back and comfortable, yet the staff was attentive and friendly. Our 2BR unit was clean & spacious, and the open air sleeping was so quite & relaxing! The restaurant/bar also had a great staff, great food, and a fun atmosphere; we were hanging out with locals and surfers! We'll definitely be back!"

"My wife and kids loved the pool, I loved the windsurfing out front, and my wife and I loved the Pina Coladas from the Surfers Bar. Great place to relax. Great to find a 2 bedroom apartment with a kitchen when travelling with the family. It is not the Four Seasons, but the cost represents great value for Barbados."

"My wife and I had a great time at MoonRaker, beautiful setting, great people, laid back introduction to Island time! We enjoyed getting to know Steve 1 and Steve 2 and Patch especially. Our trip style was that we bounced around from place to place including Moonraker, South Gap Hotel, South Beach Hotel, and the Crane. Moonraker was one of our favorites!"

"We had an absolutely lovely time! The staff are really friendly and really went the extra mile to make sure that we had a good stay. The 2 bedroom apartments are very spacious with a beautiful view over the pool and the sea. The food down at the bar was amazing, and we ate there most nights. We were also given access to car hire and paddle board rentals, the team were happy to help with whatever we needed.Overall a brilliant atmosphere and would stay here again in a heartbeat!"

" In my opinion best place to stay in Barbados for kiters. Silver Sands/Rock spot is just behind corner in walking distance. Nicky and Steve were very nice, friendly and so willing to make our stay comfortable. Really a good value for the money! "

" My partner and her 12 year old son and I shared a 2 room apartment for 12 days. It was very spacious, had a nice, albeit small, pool, and is by the sea although the beach has no facilities. We were made very welcome and were very comfortable thanks to Nicky and Steve. If you want to get around, hiring a car is essential as the apartments are somewhat off the beaten track. The bar is a nice place to relax and the food is good.I would have liked a small welcome pack such as tea, coffee, milk, sugar and a few crackers. We were very hungry by the time Steve took us out to get breakfast and groceries. Stayed April 2015, traveled with family "

" This review is long overdue as we had a wonderful week in MoonRaker last April. It is a very unusual, authentic place, simple, quiet and beautiful. Steve and Nikki were great, very friendly and attentive to our needs. And watching the dogs that are not afraid to surf in any weather was a lot of fun! We truly enjoyed our stay.Room Tip: 2 bedroom 2nd floor is very spacious and the view from the terrace is amazing. "

" Very quaint place near the best kite surfing on the planet. Very clean apartments, and Niki was very helpful and welcoming. You NEED to bring supplies, it is not very close to shopping and bar/resto does not open until 3pm. Felt very safe and secure at all times.Bar is just a great "surf bar" with friendly helpful staff and more than very tasty food. Tad pricey for the food, but not that out of line for Barbados. Very chill, relaxed vibe. "

" My husband and I chose this location and property because we wanted something off the beaten path which was close to a good surf break; this was the perfect spot. Everyone who works there was very accomadating when we arrived and Nikki, the property manager, greeted us with a free cocktail. It was like arriving in heaven. This is a small apartment property which is right on the beach with a small local bar/restaurant with a limited menu. This place is great for people who want to get away from it all and do not want the typical tourist experience. So, if you want the Hilton do not come here.As soon as we checked in my husband mentioned that his "rich" surf buddy would not stay here. It is rustic but super clean with a homelike atmosphere. After a few days you feel like you are part of the family. The location of the property makes renting a car your best choice for transportation while staying here.It is rather isolated and if you want to do anything on the rest of the island you would pay a fortune for a taxi to take you anywhere. You will also probably want to pick up necessities, like water, at a local store and it would be too long of a walk to any of them. Ask the bartender at Surfer's Bay Beach Restaurant on the property how to get to Douglas's store; that is where we went to pick up supplies for our room when we arrived. Then you can venture into Oistens and find the large Massy store for bigger purchases, although be warned this place was super crowded while we were there over the Christmas holidays. As for surfing, this spot is really a windsurfing dream. My husband does not windsurf, but found that South Point break and Freight's Bay were really close.Again, the car was necessary as he drove to these spots in the morning. He rented a board at Zed's for the week (150.00 US dollars) and we always travel witht a set of soft racks so he can drive to different breaks. There is no beach at either of these two breaks so I went to the beach at the Moonraker. Be aware that this is the Atlantic side of the island and do not expect to find a Caribbean style beach here: it is rough in the winter. The beach is small but secluded, perfect! The other thing I would mention is that there is a pool on the property with great chairs scattered all over for an afternoon of reading. With no televisions in the apartments, be sure to bring something to do. The wifi can be unreliable so do not invision hours spent on the computer while on vacation. The people who complain about this property may expect something different so be prepared for a typical surf vacation and not the Hilton, where our friends stay and spend 550.00 US dollars per night. Love the Moonraker and Barbados. "

" Where do I start ... When we arrived our apartment was double booked. So we needed to wait in a small studio for Steve 'the manager' to arrange something. Two hours later there was still no sign of Steve. My boyfriend went to the bar in the surfclub and look who he found? Steve ... but not aware that we were waiting for him to arrange our hostel @Moonrakers.He gave us a free night (fair enough) and a 2bedroom apartment for the other 3 nights. He promised to come over to arrange everything. The next day in the afternoon we still didn't have the other apartment as promised and Niki (his assistent) didn't know anything about the arrangement. After a long discussion we got an apartment where we could stay with all our windsurfing equipment.Niki really tried to give us a nice stay @Moonrakers. She was very helpfull and friendly. But Steve on the other hand didn't bother to come and talk to us. We had to ask for him so we could pay for our stay. Moonrakers is an overpriced camping: looks nice on the website but in reality ... no hot water in the kitchen, few water in the shower, basic equipment in the kitchen, swimming pool was already closed after 2 weeks due to little maintenance...It is managed by Steve and Niki. Niki is very helpfull and tries her best to solve all the problems. She is the one that keeps the apartments and studios clean and this on a daily basis. But she gets no help from Steve, who is a typical example of a manager who doesn't solve problems but just avoids them.He has no sense of communication and responsibility towards his guests. Moonrakers, sorry but never again. "

" No it is not a hotel. It is an apartment on one of the nicest spots of Barbados. No mass tourism and no crowds. You have the beach there for yourself. Best place for all kind of surfers. The service is the best and everything is possible. Just ask nicely:). You can travel the island with busses but a car is much better. This year there is a new pool, which sits beautiful in the very nice green tropical garden. And there is the best beach bar and restaurant on site. If you like it easy and relaxed that is. Keep it up Steve and Nikky and we will be back again and again. "

" My partner and I recently stayed at the MoonRacker and LOVED it. Steve and Nikky made us feel like we were family from the very first moment we arrived. Steve allowed us to do a very early check-In and offered us a free upgrade from a studio to a 2 BR apartment; Nikky made her self available to help in any possible way during the all stay. The apartment itself was adorable: simple yet so warm and cozy. Then the vibe there is magic: all MoonRacker's hosts seemed to be surfers of some sort...pretty easy going folks always ready for a chat at dusk while having a drink at the wonderful beach bar located on the MoonRacker property. For sure, we will know where to go if we ever go back to Barbados "

" Spent 10 days here in the middle of September. The location is a bit out of the way, and off-season when we went car rental was a must to ensure you have a variety of restaurants for the evening. The hotel itself is excellent. The rooms are situated in a two storey building which is staggered so that the balconies each room has are afforded privacy. All rooms open into the well kept and attractive gardens, with the beach no more than 50 meters from your front door. The room itself was spacious, we were upgraded to a two bedroom free of charge, and both bedrooms were large and well equipped, with plenty of wardrobe space. Each bedroom had its own air conditioner, the beds were extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. The kitchen/living area was similar spacious, clean and well equipped. In particular there was a large, modern fridge/freezer which was a very pleasant surprise. The bathroom was basic but perfectly acceptable, and the shower pressure was excellent! Certainly no shortage of hot water either. There is a small private beach which is accessed across the garden, which is beautiful and has tree cover for shade. Otherwise a 3 minute walk down the coast brings you to a slightly larger beach which is similarly stunning, and quiet. Although I don't surf this is clearly ideal for all kinds of surfing/windsurfing or kite surfing as evidenced by the people out every day.A short drive away is Miami beach which is a large beach with a number of hotels nearby, and offers sunbed rental, beach bars, jet ski and is generally busier if that is your thing. What really made this place stand out was the service provided by Steve (the owner) and Nikki, who from the moment we arrived went out of their way to make us feel welcome and our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible - arranging for complimentary taxi travel into town to buy supplies on the first night, subsequent car hire whilst ensuring any requests we had were met immediately. We travel frequently, and prefer to stay in smaller, family run type establishments, with the odd 5 star here and there, and I can honestly say I have never had a better service or felt better looked after than at Moonraker Beach! " Fantastic getaway with a great location, especially if you are into water sport like surfing, kite or windsurfing. Barbados is an expensive island, that said Moonraker is great value for the money, clean, fresh and very friendly and helpful staff. The location is great, just by the water with close access to one of Barbados best kite and windsurfing venues. The apartments have what you need and are clean, fresh with access direct to the garden.
