The hotel offers accommodation in 10 rooms and 9 bungalows in a beautiful mango orchard looking out to the ocean. The owner has designed the bungalows to resemble the architecture found in Bali, connected by walking roads, the buildings have an octagonal structure, made of "Nazareno" wood with cathedral ceilings and wide roofed porches. You can relax by the pool, watch the monkeys, hike to the waterfalls or take a horseback ride along the beaches.

Montezuma Yoga also offers private accommodation in their romantic Artist Loft and luxury Tree Loft depending on availability. Rates for accommodation in the Artist Loft with private bath are the same as the bungalow in Hotel Los Mangos, for accommodation in the Tree loft with private bath and kitchen please add 20$ extra per day. Both properties are located in a quiet residential area about 1 kilometer up the hill from the town and beaches. You can walk, catch rides or organize your own transport via taxi or 4x4 ATV. Montezuma Yoga will be happy to set it up for you.

You can choose between canopy zipline or tortuga island boat and snorkelling trip.

"Our arrival was easy and stress-less thanks to Silvia's detailed communication."

"The Hotel Los Mangos is very basic but we had a fan, a small fridge, and clean towels and linens. Our inclusive breakfast was copious and delicious at neighboring hotel with ocean view where we would have enjoyed the option to stay."

"Silvia made the yoga retreat very special for us. She is a great teacher and is sensitive to the individual needs and levels of each yogi. Every class was challenging and varied and corresponded to everyone's level of practice. I really appreciated her attention."

"The surfing classes with Mauricio were challenging but a lot of fun and on a gorgeous beach accessible by walking roughly 40 minutes. You definitely get a workout in 6 days!"

"I would recommend this retreat enthusiastically but would caution those that require extra hotel comfort (A/C, view, ambiance, etc)"

    "Thank you Montezuma Yoga!"

"I cannot say enough great things about Montezuma Yoga. Silvia was great with communication. We emailed several times before I arrived. Everything was at it should be when I got there. I did the wellness package and it far exceeded my expectations. Silvia set up the ziplining/canopy tour and the massage with Cordula. The massage was heavenly. Never had a better one. Ziplining was close by and so much fun. Michelle was one of my yoga teachers along with Silvia. They are both so kind and patient with their yogis. The private session with Silvia was very informative and I have used what I learned from her when I came back home. "

"No matter your yoga experience level you felt welcomed. The peace and love I felt while there helped me to quiet my mind. I didn't feel any negativity only good energy. The candlelight yoga was so calming. Sylvester the cat is a hoot. he would do his version of yoga with us. Also he would come lay on your yoga mat and watch you. "

"Listening to the ocean in the background and the peacefulness helped my meditation practice too. I can't wait to go back again next year! Thank you Montezuma Yoga for an amazing and wondrous experience."

"As a solo female traveler who has never traveled alone before, I am so happy I found and chose BookYogaRetreats and Montezuma Yoga. Both were informative and responded quickly to my pre travel questions. "

"Montezuma Yoga was truly amazing. It was exactly what I needed to hit the reset button in my life. I haven't done yoga in years and with Dagmar, Silvia and Michelle instructing classes, I was always excited to go to my mat and see what unfolded in my practice. I focused on my breathing and what my body was telling me like never before while listening to the crashing waves, birds and howler monkeys. The breakfast each morning was delicious, substantial and served by such a friendly and attentive girl, I was sad to say goodbye to her. The hotel was all I needed for this trip, simple and rustic, a beautiful pool I had almost all to myself and walking distance to the town, breakfast and water falls. "

" I absolutely loved my yoga experience in Costa Rica with Montezuma Yoga. It was an experience that I will always cherish; it was much more than I expected in more ways than I expected. "

"The yoga was fabulous. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting; beautiful open studio with wooden floor, the view of ocean, gentle breezes, sound of waves. Instructors were genuine, inspiring, creative, welcoming, encouraging, and offered individual advice. I enjoyed having a variety of instructors and classes. The beautiful warm weather added to flexibility, sort of like hot yoga without the stuffiness. While I specifically went to this venue for the yoga; I enjoyed the overall experience so very much. The accommodations were perfect! I loved my little bungalow amidst the trees and wildlife. The bungalows are clean and simple, comfortable mattress, plenty of windows, and each has a veranda with beautiful rockers and a hammock! The owner of the hotel is very kind, gracious, and knowledgeable about the country."

"The hotel is just outside the small village of Montezuma, quick walk to town and fabulous restaurants (fresh seafood, the tuna was awesome). Breakfast which is included in package was spectacular. "

"I loved being by the ocean and spent free time in the water! It is beautiful. Blue, turquoise, waves, and beaches all within walking minutes from hotel. A dream come true. I had never traveled out of the US other than Canada; went to Costa Rica for yoga solo. it was easy to arrive at destination with guidance and assistance from yoga people….they are very helpful and will go out of their way to assure your experience is pleasant and wonderful. There were many friendly people at the yoga retreat. I have never felt lonely, there were many kindred spirits! "

"I did the yoga and surf package with Montezuma Yoga in March 2016. I had an unbelievable experience! I was slightly nervous traveling alone (as a 25-year old female), but I met the most wonderful people through yoga and surfing. The yoga studio is absolutely beautiful and looks over the ocean. I'm more advanced, but Silvia and Dagmar really make the classes accessible for all levels. There were multiple people in my classes that had never done yoga before. I switched between taking the morning yoga class and the even yoga class depending on what other activities I wanted to do that day. "

    ""

"The breakfast is just fabulous - fresh fruit and fruit juice plus eggs. It was very filling to fuel me for a full day of yoga and surfing. My favorite part of the trip was definitely the surfing. Mauricio is the absolute best, and I highly recommend taking lessons with him if you've ever wanted to learn! He is great at accommodating all levels. For example, this was my first time surfing but I learned rather quickly. Every time I got the hang of something, he pushed me (because I wanted to be pushed) to the next level. By the last two days, I was dropping into real waves! "

    ""

"On the other hand, there were other people who didn't pick up surfing so quickly, but Mauricio was great at giving them lots of attention and making them feel comfortable to keep trying. I will say that it's about a 30-45 minute walk to the surfing beach. I recommend bringing comfortable shoes to walk through the sand on the beach because my feet were very sore from walking each way every day in my rubber flip flops. I was in great shape before leaving on the retreat, but I definitely lost weight and came back even stronger after all the yoga, surfing, and walking. I never stopped moving all day! Los Mangos is a short walk to town, and all the food was delicious. It's a cute town with plenty of places to eat. Just an FYI that Los Mangos doesn't have air conditioning. I believe only one place in town does. I was worried I wasn't going to be able to fall asleep, but there's a fan in the room that cools it down. If you're considering this retreat, just go for it! I met many people who were traveling solo as well, and now I have many new friends!""

"Montezuma Yoga could not have been a better choice for my retreat. The journey there was beautiful and easy, despite my hesitations. Upon my arrival I had a very warm welcome from the owner of the hotel (Los Mangos) as well as Dagmar. They sat down with me for a few minutes telling me about the hotel, town and what to expect from the week. It made me feel very at home! I opted for the surfing package and absolutely enjoyed it, Mauricio was awesome. By the end of the week I felt very comfortable on the board. The price is what initially attracted me to Montezuma Yoga but now I couldn't be more glad that I chose this retreat. It was not over booked, it was slightly structured with the entire afternoons off for me to do dinner in town and an opportunity to meet and hang out in the local joints. Perfect!"

"I stayed in Montezuma (Hotel Los Mangos) with my sister in March 2015 for the "Wellness Package" offered by Montezuma Yoga. "

"Silvia and Dagmar offered incredible service, and the quality of yoga is awesome. They give good instructions and encourage and help with the postures. The view from the outdoor yoga space (an open tiki hut!) is beautiful, we hear the ocean during the classes which is amazing. You can stay in a private hut or in the main building of the hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but it is a perfect place for a yoga retreat. The Wellness Package includes a healthy and generous breakfast in a small hotel accross the street facing the ocean. The service is again incredible. There are plenty of dinner options in the small hippie town of Montezuma (5-minute. walk) and we liked that we could try a new place every night. There are good coffee shops as well and it is easy to find really good smoothies for afternoon snacks. I would strongly recommend going there for a yoga retreat, alone or with friends and I am definitely going back next year!"

"This week I took a 90-minute morning Vinyassa yoga class. The outdoor studio space was instantly relaxing as we faced the ocean during our practice. The practice was very mindful and the instructor walked around stretching us in helpful ways during the class. It was an amazing way to start the day and I recommend this studio to anyone staying in or around Montezuma."

"My friend and I are so happy we discovered this place! We were staying in a little beach front hostel down the hill and happened to walk by it when we were looking for the waterfalls. We weren't signed up for a retreat or workshop but they had a couple drop in classes. We did one the next evening and it was unbelievable! Our instructor was fantastic and the studio was an open tiki hut at the top of a hill where you'd get an astounding view of the ocean. It was sunset when we started our class but as we progressed, a lightning storm started over the ocean. The sound of the ocean clashing onto the shore made it so peaceful. Little geckos would run across the roof - This yoga studio made us feel so in touch with nature - it still gives me chills thinking about it. I hope to come back again - maybe as part of a retreat this time!"

"The trip was incredible! Hotel Los Mangos was in a perfect location just a short walk from the town but far enough away that you aren't in the craze of it. The presence of a pool made a huge difference in the warm weather, and I can't even begin to explain the beauty of the lush landscape this time of year. We were worried going in the rainy season because we thought we wouldn't see any sun, but in our whole 7 days we didn't feel a single rain drop!Every person we met both through Montezuma Yoga and Hotel Los Mangos (and in Costa Rica in general) were some of the nicest people we have ever encountered. We will remain good friends with Silvia, our yoga instructor, Mauricio, our surf teacher and many other people from along the way. Perhaps the best part of this package (aside from the obvious yoga and surf lesson aspect) was the included breakfast - holy cow, what a feast! With buffets on Sunday and a la carte menus the rest of the week, the portions were sizeable and everything was perfectly fresh. I felt like the fruit was just picked from the tree before it ended up on my plate.Coming back to work in America today has left me with a very real post-vacation depression! I can't stop thinking about what a unique and irreplaceable vacation this was, and would 100% recommend this to any friends, acquaintances, or individuals looking to unplug for a week. I highly suggest an active week amidst the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen."

How Dagmar and Silvia do it I don't know, but they seem to be able to not just teach but to inspire! They encourage and correct. They observe and demonstrate. They nurture and instruct. All of their 90-minute sessions are aligned for all levels and they are very well equipped to improve on anything you already know or don't know. They have patience and the most sincere dedication to their students, of any level, male or female. I love their open-air studio and I felt incredibly relaxed and virtuous after each morning's practice. One word: GO!"

The studio is run and maintained in a professional, yet casual way that welcomes and challenges all levels, from the novice to the most experienced yogis. I enjoyed their yoga and wellness package, which delivered on all it promised. I enjoyed Dagmar, Sylvia and Lucy's classes, and all had different styles, but each provided inspiration and benefit. If you can, attend at least one night class, when the fragrant aroma of ylang ylang enhances the already marvelous natural visual and auditory setting."

"We had such a fabulous time at the Montezuma Yoga retreat! The town and the beaches are beautiful. Several of the other travelers we met during our stay said Montezuma was their favorite place that they had visited! We stayed in a bungalow at Hotel Los Mangos and it was perfect. It felt secluded, without being remote, and we loved that it was only a 5 minute walk into town. We also took full advantage of the pool, but the Jacuzzi wasn't functioning while we were there. We did the yoga/surf package and everything was very well structured. Silvia had left a welcome note in our room and gave us a nice orientation that evening at our class. Both she and Dagmar are great teachers. We loved Silvia's Hatha background and approach and found that, while the teachers were unique, they complimented each other nicely. Our surf teacher, Mauricio was equally fantastic. After 4 days we were able to successfully surf on our own, while he stood on the beach to take pictures. They provided boards and rash guards and met us at the hotel to be sure we made it to the correct beach for surfing. While it's about a 30-minute walk to that location, the beaches are stunning and it's a lovely hike. While it didn't seem as glamorous as the surf instruction that was occurring next to us, via a newer surfing school, we felt that we had the more legitimate and effective teaching...we were actually able to surf at the end! We wouldn't have changed a thing about this experience, although it would have been wonderful to stay longer!"

Breakfast/lunch was at beautiful Casa Amor del Mar, where we got a big portion of food of our choice before or after yoga. "I visited Montezuma yoga March 2014. This was my first visit to Costa Rica and Im not disappointed. The town of Montezuma is beautiful and charming, you can get a lot of healthy food here. The beaches around town are absolutely amazing and there are many ways to pass your days. I was never bored. I would highly recommend taking the day trip to La Tortuga island - absolutely stunning beach location.I also suggest paying a bit extra for a private bungalow as you get a nicer space and way more privacy. I stayed for one night in one of the main building's rooms and the noise from the upstairs rooms is just unbearable, if you're a light sleeper like me. Overall the bungalows are clean and well-cared for but understand that you are staying in somewhat basic and rustic accommodations. The bathroom is very dated and the hot water supply is iffy (however it was so hot, cool showers were just right at times). The rooms were cleaned each day and I never had any issues with my belongings. However, always utilize the safe in the room and lock the door with the key. Overall, the hotel is just fine, you won't be spending much time in your room anyway. I found the staff and the owner very friendly and helpful. The breakfast quality is quite high, you get good choices, and the food is fresh and delicious. The yoga studio at the hotel is a beautiful open bungalow type structure with great ocean and garden views. By far the nicest location I've ever practiced at. The sounds of the ocean, the birds, and animals really made it quite a surreal experience. All the instructors I had were super friendly and welcoming. I found the level of difficulty in the classes and the variety just right for all levels as more difficult poses were practiced and some inversion practice was also offered to those who wanted it.I found the quality of the instruction to be very high and I definitely left with new knowledge and a deeper appreciation for yoga. Beware it gets extremely hot in Montezuma so bring a yoga towel and stay hydrated as you will be drenched every class. The massage offered in my package was amazing and quite relaxing. Overall, I found the yoga package well worth the money and I would highly recommend it!"

"I went to the Montezuma Yoga for a yoga and surf retreat. It was disorganized. Upon arrival, the receptionist spoke no English and there was a discrepancy with my payment. I tried to contact Dagmar, the woman I spoke to when booking, but she was unavailable. Part of the package included breakfast, but the first morning I was told there was no breakfast. There needs to be more communication between the yoga part of the business and the hotel Los Mangos. We did find that breakfast was included at a little restaurant down the road, and it was a great place. The juices are so fresh and delicious, but on the website it said fresh fruit was included with all breakfasts and that was not the case. When it was brought to the attention of Dagmar, she seemed unaware that we did not receive a small fruit plate. She spoke to the hotel and we were compensated with a free lunch, however the free lunch was only available that one day and it was impossible for me to go due to a surfing lesson. Again, there needs to be more communication between the package organizer and the third parties involved.I was also surprised to learn that surf lessons were a 40-minute hike from the hotel and yoga pavilion. I think that is something that should be specified in the description of the package. Several times we were scheduled to surf at 11:30am. A 40-minute hike to the beach, a few hours of surfing, and a 40-minute hike back to the hotel Los Mangos in the heat of the day is a lot of work. My friend quit surfing after day one because of that. When surf was held in the morning, it was more enjoyable. I think more transparency is fair to the client, other guests also were under the impression surfing was held on site. When I did pay Dagmar for my accommodations and yoga / surf package, she charged for the wrong number of days. More organization, transparency, and communication would greatly help the guests and business. I did enjoy my stay despite the disorganization. I stayed in a bungalow, which was very nice. The location of the hotel Los Mangos was just a few minute walk from town. The breakfast was delicious! You had a choice of eggs with bread or gallo pinto, a large fruit plate with granola and yogurt, crepes with honey and banana, huevos rancheros, or breads with spreads or tuna and tomato. You also got a choice of fresh juice, coffee, or tea.In town, there were all sorts of restaurants and shops. The yoga classes were wonderful, Silvia is a fantastic teacher. There was a yoga Nidra class which was beautiful and relaxing. There are also other activities you may book, I went on a snorkeling tour of Tortuga Island, which I highly recommend!"

"I had high hopes for Montezuma Yoga retreat, but it actually exceeded my lofty expectations. It was the perfect yoga retreat. Located in the charming, laid back, dynamic, and artsy beach town of Montezuma, Dagmar runs a retreat that is rejuvenating, inspiring, relaxing, and nourishing. I wanted my vacation to be active, engaging, and relaxing all at the same time, and that's exactly what it was. I had the opportunity to take yoga twice a day, surf, hike to breathtaking waterfalls, snorkel, horseback ride, swim in the beautiful ocean, eat delicious and healthy food, and meet like-minded people, who quickly became friends. The yoga classes are very special, unique, and varied. Some have live-music and candle lighting, which is extra special and cathartic. Others have the sounds of ocean and surrounding nature. They combine a good amount of physical exercise / movement with spirituality and the striving for love, light, compassion, acceptance, and understanding. I felt great about myself, my life, whoever it is I am, and whatever it is I've accomplished during the yoga sessions. The yoga classes elicit t positive stream of thoughts and emotions. It is days later and I am back home now still feeling that inner peace and joy, as the effects of the retreat penetrated and linger."

"I recently did the Montezuma Yoga and wellness package. Id read much positive feedback on TripAdvisor and after ten days there, I can definitely confirm that it is an inspiring and deeply enriching experience. With their beautiful setting, the Los Mangos rustic wooden bungalows are simply comfortable and nicely decorated with nice exotic touches. With its eco-friendly features, the hotel, perfectly integrated in its natural surroundings, is definitely perfect for experiencing a true immersion in nature among the birds, monkeys, and reptiles.Waking up to the sound of waves and birds, starting the day with a yoga session is truly regenerating. Having a delicious organic breakfast at Amor de mar, while enjoying the incredible view of the ocean, is inspiring. Spending the day discovering the many natural features or beaches by foot, reading a book lying in a hammock under a palm tree, or writing my diaries is fulfilling. Dagmar is a wonderful host, making sure everyone feels welcome, adjusting her yoga teaching to all levels, her calm and assertive energy is a wonderful guide and support. Silvia is an excellent teacher with lots of positive and refreshing energy. The evening sessions are beautiful with candlelight and the amazingly relaxing music by Daniel playing on the magic hang. I really recommend downloading Gaudans music. Along with this wonderful team, I must recommend the relaxing massage of Cordula and her helpful advice. The hotel team did an excellent job, the bungalow was always clean, Yajaira at the reception is most helpful and welcoming. Costas, the owner, and Johnny, the driver, are friendly and very nice people, a real family atmosphere. Thanks to all! I will definitely return."

"I came to Montezuma in Costa Rica because I wanted to take more time to know myself and to connect with me more than I ever did. I always was curious about yoga but never made the step to really try it. Montezuma Yoga was the first "real" yoga studio I've ever visited. At my first session, I felt very welcome and I really felt I could vibrate with this place. First of all, the studio is located in a wonderful place; you can see the sunlight shimmering on the waves, facing you while you can feel the warm touch of the wind running around in the open space. You can enjoy all the sounds of the life and diversity around you, and every single piece of the studio reflects how peaceful and full of love this place is imprinted of. I really couldn't ask for better. Then, to really enjoy my practice, I feel the need to be able to let me guide 100% by my instructor. With Silvia and Dagmar, I know I can totally let myself go to the sound of their lovely voices and I can completely trust them. Through my practices with them, I already feel the benefits on my body, mind, and spirit. Yoga now have became part of my everyday lifestyle, and I would totally recommend anyone to try this amazing experience. Maybe like me you will fall in love in yoga, but most importantly, you could fall in love with yourself."

"We (my boyfriend and I) started our first week with Costa Rica Yoga Montezuma. We booked a yoga and surf package for 5 days, which included a wonderful place to stay with a very good breakfast. Yoga practice with Dagmar and Sylvia was the best yoga that we've ever had. We liked it so much that we decided, we would come back again."

"I have just returned from 3 weeks in Montezuma. I opted to stay at Los Mangos hotel and buy the unlimited class option for the month which was around 90,000 colones (if I remember correctly). I tried to attend class twice a day, each session an 1.5hr each. Before this I hadn't really practiced yoga at all. Dagma, Silvia, Michelle & Lucy were all fantastic! Each one brings something unique to their practice which always meant there was variety in the classes. The morning classes were often more challenging while the evening classes more relaxing. They are all incredibly patient and kind and took time to teach and encourage the beginners like myself as much as the more advanced people in class. I can honestly say it is the most amazing setting to practice yoga. The evening music classes to candle light with the sound of the animals in the trees is something I will never forget. I have found myself now being a yoga addict and I have signed up to my local class and I'm continuing with daily lessons! Thank you all so much and hopefully I can come back soon!"

"I just returned from holding a yoga retreat at Montezuma Yoga and I highly recommend this to any yoga teacher wanting to bring a group. This was my first retreat and Dagmar's philosophy in doing business was down to earth and full of ease as she was very accessible throughout the whole planning process and generous and gracious during our week in Montezuma. She blew us all away with the meal arrangements in stunning and delicious locations nearby. As many have mentioned the setting of the yoga studio is inspiring to say the least. The massages and other manual therapies offered as well as others in the village are skilful and straight out wonderful. If you are looking for a jungle experience is a very special place - this is it!"

"I just got back from my vacation. I really enjoyed my stay in Costa Rica and the Yoga retreat in Montezuma! Silvia, Michelle, Lucy, and Dagmar are all very nice and awesome yoga instructors. They have different style which made the experience even better. I would definitely do the yoga retreat again. Also, Andrea, our Spanish teacher, is very helpful as well. I would definitely recommend this retreat to anyone who wants to go to Costa Rica :) Pura Vida! "
