The MoaAlm Mountain Retreat has comfortable single, double, twin or triple rooms with en-suite bathroom. The rooms are stylishly decorated and spacious, with sizes varying up to 24 square meters. All rooms have an en-suite private bathroom and stunning views. Some have balconies but not all. All rooms can be made up with one double or two single beds. After an active day in the outdoors you can enjoy the astonishing view from the sunny terrace or relax in the living room, enjoy a drink at the bar, curl up on the sofa with a magazine or book, or enjoy a meal at the shared dining table.

The in-house yoga studio has a panoramic mountain view and is the perfect place for an active start to the day or a relaxing session of restorative yoga in the afternoon. In the morning the sunrise fills the room with energy and the late afternoon turns the mountains pink.

Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to whatever is happening in your life. It will not eliminate life's pressures, but it can help you respond to them in a calmer manner that benefits your heart, head, and body. It provides you with a scientifically researched approach to cultivating clarity, insight, and understanding. Practising mindfulness allows you to be fully present in your life and work, and improve your quality of life. The yoga classes will be taught in the in-house yoga studio with panoramic views over the mountains or, when the weather allows, you might also enjoy a few yoga sessions outside. The outdoor activities will mostly be hikes or walks of one to three hours. During these activities you will practice mindfulness exercises. The hikes or walks will be guided by a certified mountain hiking guide and your mindfulness trainer, Claire Thompson, will join as well to help you out with the exercises. During the middle of the week, there will be one day off, so you may go to explore the mountains, visit the beautiful city of Lienz, or relax on the sunny terrace.

Yoga

The word yoga means union in Sanskrit. By synchronising your breathing to the movements of your body you enhance your physical endurance and you learn to better understand your own body. Yoga poses will help you to improve your flexibility and strength. Yoga is for everyone; it does not matter how old, fit or flexible you are! The yoga classes are always tailored to individual needs so that everyone can participate at their own level and pace.

Yoga Alliance RYT 200 (Yoga)
Rosie is a fun-loving yoga teacher and massage therapist from New Zealand. She has spent the past five years working in Europe and Southeast Asia in the yoga, wellness and adventure tourism industry, sharing her love for yoga, bodywork and the great outdoors. Rosie completed a 200HR Yoga Teacher Training in Classical Hatha Yoga and has completed an Integral Yoga internship in Cambodia, learning how to take yoga off the mat and into life. Rosie teaches an intuitive style of yoga with a strong focus on the breath and awareness, so that each practice becomes a meditation in motion.

Retreat location

This retreat will be held at the MoaAlm Mountain Retreat in Kals am Grossglockner, Austria. The MoaAlm Mountain Retreat has a secluded location at 1800 meters above sea level; just three kilometres above the farming community of Kals am Grossglockner on the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park. From the house you can spot a lot of wildlife and enjoy the panoramic views.

During this retreat, you will be served 7 breakfasts, 5 lunches, and 6 dinners. At MoaAlm food is very important. Whenever possible MoaAlm Mountain Retreat sources organic produce locally. At breakfast you may enjoy a variety of mueslis, fresh fruit, fresh bread, cheeses and meats, sweet spreads such as jams and peanut butter, eggs, and organic coffee. The lunch will be colourful homemade soup or salad. MoaAlm Mountain Retreat will serve a three-course dinner on 6 evenings, including wine.

In summer MoaAlm Mountain Retreat offers various things to do on the day-off in the middle of the week such as hike and mountain bike tours to small romantic mountain huts, a day trip to the beautiful city of Lienz, or a peaceful picnic at the riverbeds. If you like, MoaAlm Mountain Retreat can also arrange additional activities with local partners, for example rafting, canyoning, paragliding and rock climbing. As always, all levels of experience are catered for.

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 14% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
