Join this yoga retreat if you are interested in mindfulness, curious about your relationship with nature, or if you just need a break to relax and get back to the simple thing in life. This retreat takes place in the pristine Alpine wilderness of Austria’s Hohe Tauern National Park. You will enjoy a mindfulness and nature course, daily yoga sessions, delicious local organic food, stunning wild mountain landscapes, local fauna and meadows full of spring flowers.

The MoaAlm Mountain Retreat has comfortable single, double, twin or triple rooms with en-suite bathroom. The rooms are stylishly decorated and spacious and sizes vary up to 24 square meters. All rooms have an en-suite private bathroom and stunning views. Some have balconies but not all. All rooms can be made up with one double or two single beds. After an active day in the outdoors you can enjoy the astonishing view from the sunny terrace or relax in the living room, enjoy a drink at the bar, curl up on the sofa with a magazine or book, or enjoy a meal at the shared dining table.

The in-house yoga studio has a panoramic mountain view and is the perfect place for an active start of the day or for a relaxing session of restorative yoga in the afternoon. In the morning the sunrise fills the room with energy and the late afternoon turns the mountains pink.


Mindfulness and nature

Mindfulness is a non-judgemental way of paying attention to the unfolding of the experience in the present moment. It is noticing and appreciating life within you and around you. Because mindfulness is about paying attention to life, there is no better place to discover it than surrounded by life at its purest... in one of Europe’s largest and wildest nature reserves, the Hohe Tauern National Park. During this one week course, you will learn mindfulness through theory and practice, why practising mindfulness of the natural world is important for happiness and well-being, how spending time in nature and watching wildlife can make you more mindful, why being mindful of nature is essential for creating a more sustainable world. You will also learn that practising mindfulness in nature is relaxing, peaceful and really fun.

Retreat location

This retreat will be held at the MoaAlm Mountain Retreat in Kals am Grossglockner, Austria. The MoaAlm Mountain Retreat has a secluded location at 1800 meters above sea level; just three kilometers above the farming community of Kals am Grossglockner in the middle of Hohe Tauern National Park. From the house you can spot a lot of wildlife and enjoy the panoramic views.

During this retreat, you will be served seven breakfasts, five lunches, six dinners and afternoon tea with freshly baked cake on 7 days. At MoaAlm food is very important. Whenever possible MoaAlm Mountain Retreat sources organic, local produce. At breakfast, you may enjoy a variety of mueslis, fresh fruit, fresh bread, cheeses and meats, sweet spreads such as jams and peanut butter, eggs, and organic coffee. The lunch will be colourful homemade soup or salad. MoaAlm Mountain Retreat will serve a three-course dinner with wine on 6 evenings.

Things to do (optional)

In summer MoaAlm Mountain Retreat offers various things to do on the day-off in the middle of the week, such as hike and mountain bike tours to small romantic mountain huts, a day trip to the beautiful city of Lienz, or a peaceful picnic at the riverbeds. If you like, MoaAlm Mountain Retreat can also arrange additional activities with local partners, for example rafting, canyoning, paragliding, and rock climbing. As always, all levels of experience are catered for.

Arrival by airplane

The nearest airports are Innsbruck, Salzburg and Munich. There are different options for transferring from these airports to MoaAlm Mountain Retreat: public transport, taxi or car rental. If you decide to book MoaAlm will happily advise you on the best option for you.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 14% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 70 days before arrival.
