On the week of 13th of July MoaAlm offers you a week long yoga retreat at our beautiful home in the meadows and mountains of Austria. You are invited to stretch, release, rejuvenate and meditate in the stunning landscape of the Tyrol Alps. Situated under Austria’s highest peak, discover a space to promote self-care and switch the mind from a state of turbulence to the bliss of nature, restore your batteries, increase mobility, and reconnect with your body.

MoaAlm is a recently renovated guest house with room for a maximum of 10 to 12 guests. You will stay in a room with beautiful views and en-suite private bathroom. MoaAlm has a beautiful yoga studio with a panoramic view of the mountains. The yoga studio is equipped with mats and props to support you in your poses. After an active day in the outdoors, you can enjoy the astonishing view from our sunny terrace or relax in the living room with a good book or new friends.


Day 1

Arrival at MoaAlm. Take time to soak up the stunning views on the terrace with a cup of tea and freshly baked plant based cake. Meet other course participants at delicious plant based dinner.

Day 2

The day starts with an energizing one hour yoga session in our panoramic studio. After an organic breakfast you take a relaxing hike with our local guide on the nearby forest trails. Return to MoaAlm for tea and cake or personal yoga practive before relaxing in the hot tub.

Day 3

Introduction to the principles of yoga and breath techniques followed by an energizing yoga session. Shorter day hike in the National Park.

Day 4

You start the day with a guided meditation before heading out with our local guide to tackle one of the nearby peaks. You spot local wildlife such as ibex, before returning to MoaAlm for personal yoga practice and tea.

Day 5

Free day. You may choose to take your practice outside, go for a self guided hike, or relax in the sun on the terrace with a good book.

Day 6

This morning's yoga class is a yin session, encouraging you to challenge your mind as well as your body. The afternoon is spent in fits of giggles as you try your hand at acro yoga. BBQ dinner is served on the terrace and the hot tub is lit under the stars.

Day 7

A final hike to the base of Austria's highest mountain is complemented by an outdoor meditation session taking in the stunning views.

Final delicious breakfast before you head home

Note: This is an example and does not include all activities offered. Itinerary may differ depending on weather conditions. All yoga sessions are suitable for beginners and intermediates.

Included excursions

This yoga week includes asanas (postures), different meditation techniques, pranayama (breathwork) and a few insights to the yogic philosophy. Therefore, you will experience one hour of energizing, movement and breath focused morning yoga, one hour of restorative afternoon yoga, as well as 30 minutes of guided meditation.

The active practice will mobilize your spine and stabilize, strengthen and work your range of motion. Restorative yoga is about slowing down and opening the body through passive stretching to relax the muscles deeply and restore the free flow of breath. Additionally, we are happy to introduce you to an afternoon of fun and trust building partner and Acro-yoga.

It doesn’t matter if this is your first time being introduced to yoga or if you already have a personal practice, we do our best to satisfy your individual needs. Also remember, it is not about being “good” at yoga, if you can breathe you can do yoga. MoaAlm is not just a mountain get-away, we love to inspire and give you tools to take your practice home.

Besides the program you have time to soak in our wood fired hot-tub, sweat out any accumulated stress, taste a glass of a delicious, local wine or wander through the forest with the sound of birds in your ears, try your best on the slack line or socialize in the comfortable communal lounge.

Together with a three-course plant-based menu, guided nature hikes in the surrounding mountains with our local guide and a fun-loving team, this week is full of everything that makes yoga an integral practice on and off your mat.

MoaAlm, your home away from home, is situated at 1,800 meters in the middle of Hohe Tauern National Park in Austria, just 3 kilometers above the small community of Kals am Grossglockner. The house is surrounded by unspoiled nature and wildlife. Green meadows filled with flowers, high peaks with snow caps, and gorgeous water streams are all around!

During this retreat, you will be served seven breakfasts, six dinners, and seven-afternoon teas. At MoaAlm, food is very important, we like to eat a sustainable, whole food plant-based diet. Whenever possible MoaAlm Mountain Retreat sources locally produced and organic ingredients.

During breakfast, you may enjoy a variety of muesli, fresh fruit, fresh bread, sweet spreads such as jams and peanut butter, alongside a range of our homemade fermented goodies, and savory spreads and nut cheeses.

Organic coffee and tea is served all day at MoaAlm. You will be welcomed back to MoaAlm every afternoon with freshly baked vegan cake, and a choice of hot or cold drinks. During six evenings, MoaAlm Mountain Retreat will serve a delicious and freshly prepared three-course plant-based dinner, including local wine or beer or organic soft drinks.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Driving directions from Kals

  • Once you have reached Kals, you drive through the village past the church and the small supermarket.
  • You basically leave the village again.
  • At the first, Y-fork keep right, following the green signs 'Moaralm'.
  • At the second fork, keep left at the beautiful wooden house with the blue/white balconies.
  • Keep all the way right at the third and final fork, driving past a small parking area and up the mountain to MoaAlm.
  • From the final fork it's a 10 minute drive to MoaAlm.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Salzburg Airport (SZG) or Innsbruck Airport (INN). Airlines are constantly changing routes and the only way to make sure you have an up to date guide is by going directly to the websites.

You can also fly into Munich and Ljubljana. If you fly into these airports, MoaAlm advises that you rent a car to transfer to MoaAlm.

MoaAlm is not the easiest destination to get to. The best places never are, that’s why they avoid the crowds. Depending on your means of transportation, the organizer will meet you at MoaAlm, Huben (a nearby village with a bus stop, 20 minutes’ drive to MoaAlm), or Lienz (the capital of East Tirol, 30 minutes’ drive to MoaAlm).

You can rent a car and drive yourself. This option allows you to explore on your way here. For example, you could skip the Felbertauern tunnel and take the Grossglockner Hoch Alpin Strasse into Osttirol - a stunning mountain road with amazing views. Car rental starts at 140EUR per week.

Arrival by bus

You can travel to MoaAlm by bus and/or train from Innsbruck and Salzburg to Lienz or Huben in Osttirol. From Innsbruck main train station there is a direct bus to Lienz four times per day. MoaAlm will pick you up in Lienz or Huben. This is often the cheapest but most time-consuming option. Public transportation in Austria is very reliable and the platforms and directions are clearly indicated.

Arrival by train

If you don't like flying or driving yourself it might be a good idea to take a train all the way to Austria. The land links in Austria are very reliable.

  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 70 days before arrival.
