Set on the beach, Shambala Petit Hotel, the laid-back, all-casita hotel with a tropical vibe is a 6-minute walk from Sistema Ox Bel Ha caves. The 10 bright, minimalist casitas feature thatched roofs and Wi-Fi. Distinct touches include sitting areas, 4-poster beds, patios and/or flat-screen TVs.

MJ's Vinyasa yoga class

A thoughtful, primal, playful, yet challenging flow balancing both yin and yang; energizing the body and balancing the mind. A sweaty, stretchy, joyful practice set to a soundtrack that will get you moving and breathing deeply. You are encouraged and will feel comfortable meeting your body wherever it is at each time you step onto your mat. While some previous experience with basic poses is helpful, you will have an abundance of loving space to modify and challenge as you choose.

MJ's Yin yoga class

Yin yoga focuses on the slow, patient, opening of the fascial layer of the body. The fascia is the connective tissue (shrink wrap) that underlies the skin, wraps the muscles, holds the bones together and is the conduit for the meridians through which energy flows. Over time chronic tightness of this layer causes stiffness and inflexibility restricting mobility and energy flow. Fascia responds differently than muscle and requires this slow approach to facilitate opening. This is a deeply meditative practice. No prior yoga experience required.

MJ's Resorative yoga class

Restorative yoga brings harmony to the body’s rhythms. It brings you to a state of “being,” not “doing,” while there is no movement, no effort, and the brain becomes quiet. Props are used to place the body in comfortable, relaxing poses. This enables the mind to clear, the breath to deepen, and the body to easily relax into balance. Restorative Yoga is the practice of deliberate stillness. This is when the healing begins.

Barre

Every Barre fitness class is fun and empowering class set to some motivating tracks. Classes begin with a warm up focusing on postural strength and alignment, followed by a series of upper body exercises using light weights. The ballet barre is used to sculpt the lower body, abs and for flexibility training. Then it is down to the mat for core work and a relaxing and invigorating final stretch.

    "Cannot say enough good things about Melissa's yoga retreat at Casa Om. I went with my mom and was immediately brought into a wonderful loving community, many of which have become friends beyond Mexico. I had been nervous before going, since I'm not much of a yogi, but Melissa's classes have something for everyone, and she challenged me in such positive ways. We spent our days lounging on the beach between classes, and eating wonderful home cooked meals by Chef Jajo. Anyone considering the retreat should absolutely go. "
