Yoga and Meditation Retreat Bali

Narasoma Retreat Center is made up of two sections, the traditional Balinese family compound with homestay accommodation, reflecting the true art and beauty of the Balinese culture and the retreat center, located in a tranquil oasis set behind the homestay, reflecting the true nature and yoga spirit that lies in the heart of Bali.

In this accommodation, there will be a lot of facilities to support your activities during the retreat. Facilities include a rooftop yoga studio and workshop area, communal kitchen, dining area, swimming pool, meditation cave, and spiritual library.

Rooftop yoga studio

The yoga studio is a beautiful traditional Balinese open pavilion with a large wooden floor, sound system, and complete with yoga mats. It is situated on the rooftop of the retreat center.

Workshop space

This area is equipped with yoga mats and meditation cushions. There is a small spiritual library where guests can enjoy reading time and sit outdoor or in the lounge area.

Retreat kitchen

The kitchen is fully equipped with gas stove, refrigerator, cooking wear, and dining wear.

Meditation cave

In between Narasoma's edible and decorative garden, there is a cave cut into the Mother Earth and used for meditation and chanting. This cave is around two meters square and can be used by all retreat center guests.

Narasoma pool

The Narasoma swimming pool is used by all guests either staying at the homestay or retreat center. Guests can enjoy breakfast by the pool if desired. All Narasoma guests can enjoy free Wi-Fi too.

Middle Ground Yoga Retreat Bali Program

The goal of this program is to make sure that this retreat is about yourself. All activities listed below are included in the retreat fee, but of course everything is optional. The class format will encourage you to embark on your own personal yoga journey and enjoy the variation that speaks to you on the day of your practice.

The guidance given in this program is to encourage a practice complementary to where your body is at, allowing you to experiment with breathing techniques, body awareness, and posture alignment. Whether you are a new yogi or seasoned yogi, you will be encouraged to practice at your own ability and comfort level.

Intercultural development inventory (IDI)

Intercultural understanding is a key when visiting another country. While in Ubud, Bali, Middle Ground Yoga will enhance your understanding of how to engage with another culture in meaningful and mutually beneficial ways. Middle Ground Yoga promises to help you to move beyond feeling like a tourist. In order to begin the intercultural development process, you will first have the opportunity to take the intercultural development inventory (IDI).

The 50-item intercultural development inventory assesses intercultural competence - the capability to shift cultural perspective and appropriately adapt behavior to cultural differences and commonalities. Intercultural competence has been identified as a critical capability for any engaged citizen of the 21st century.

Included in your retreat cost, Dr. Cherie Pettitt, a qualified administrator of the IDI, will meet with you over Skype or phone to review your results for a 30 to 60-minute session before leaving for Ubud, Bali. You will use your personal intercultural development plan to guide your experience with Balinese culture.

  • 11:30 Power Vinyasa yoga class or spiritual library time, followed by Kirtan night (devotional songs of God with Chamundi Svara) in the evening. Chamundi Savara is a Kirtan group made up of young Balinese musicians and singers. Their devotion to God is offered though their music and voice

Cherie Pettitt
Dr. Cherie Pettitt is an Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology at Minnesota State University, Mankato. She has extensive international travel experience and has led numerous group abroad to Africa and Asia. She is currently a participant in Sun Moon Yoga teacher training.
Carly Hopper
Carly Hopper is a yoga teacher and teacher training faculty at Sun Moon Yoga in Mankato, Minnesota. She is certified as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor who has previously presented for the National Exercise Trainers Association and the Minneapolis Yoga Conference.

This yoga retreat will be held in Narasoma Retreat Centre, a serene sanctuary right in the heart of Ubud, Bali, which is known as a center for traditional crafts and dance of Indonesia.

Middle Ground Yoga provides daily breakfast buffet and free coffee and tea, which are available for 24 hours. Dinner on the last night program will be provided. There are plenty of shops or cafe nearby where you can buy foods or groceries. Students are also free to use the kitchen to cook their own meals and store food in the refrigerator.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Middle Ground Yoga will pick you up from the airport.

Cancellation Policy

  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 2 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
