The completely rustic infrastructure and atmosphere conceal the functional operations of the site for our guests. The majestic views of The Andes and snow-capped mountains will give you a taste of the sacred valley.
The rooms are cozy equipped with single, double and triple beds covered with comfortable feather duvets. Each room has private bathroom with hot water all day.
All guests will need to arrive in Cusco by 3:00 p.m. A private shuttle will transport you to Yoga Mandala Sacred Valley Retreat Center in the Urubamba Valley. You will arrive at about 4:30 p.m. for a welcome snack and then have time to settle in before our opening circle at 6:00 p.m. The circle will include introductions, intentions, and some gentle stretching and meditation to move your bodies and ground after traveling. You will then have our welcome dinner at 7:30 p.m.
You'll wake up to nature's bliss with some meditation and mindful movement in a Hatha Vinyasa flow class from 7:00 a.m. to 8:15 am. You'll enjoy a fresh breakfast and then have a free day to soak up the view, journal, hike to a nearby waterfall, or whatever your heart desires. At around 4:00 p.m., you'll have the option to participate in a Despacho Ceremony, a traditional shamanic ritual to bring us into harmony and balance with the natural world. From 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Melissa will guide a gentle yoga class to nourish the body and soul as you embody the essence of the ceremony. This will be followed by a divine dinner at 7:30 p.m.
You'll come together for a morning meditation and yoga flow before breakfast. After eating, you'll head out with local guide, Valentin, to visit some of the sacred sites of the region. You'll drive through mystical mountains to the town of Chinchero where you'll visit several temples and a women's weaving cooperative to see how they use traditional Inca patterns and dyes. You'll then visit Moray, an Inca agricultural site to contemplate the ancient concentric circles. Finally, you'll visit Maras, a collection of salt mines that have been used since pre-Inca times to evaporate salt from an underground stream. You'll arrive back to Yoga Mandala at around 4:30 p.m. and convene for a group discussion from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dinner will follow thr discussion circle.
You'll arise for morning meditation and yoga from 7:00 to 8:15 a.m. followed by breakfast. This day is a free day to rest and relax amidst the sounds of nature or perhaps visit the Pisac ruins and handicraft market for more cultural immersion and fascinating views. You'll have an optional temescal (sweat lodge) from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. For those who plan to attend, it is recommended that you not eat at least three hours before the start. You'll have a short discussion circle from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and eat dinner at 7:30 p.m.
After meditation, yoga, and breakfast, you'll pack our bags for an overnight near Machu Picchu. You may leave your other belongings in your room. You'll take a packed lunch from Yoga Mandala and travel to Ollantaytambo. There you'll visit the town and Incan ruins before taking a train to Aguas Calientes for the night before visiting the amazing Machu Picchu! You will have a discussion at the hotel if space and time permit followed by dinner.
Your day starts bright and early at 6:00 a.m. to arrive at the mystical Machu Picchu. If you're lucky, you will find a place to hold a short meditation. Valentin will give you a tour of Machu Picchu from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Those who want to climb the precipitous steps of Huayna Picchu, will visit from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. After this you'll have lunch before taking the train back to Ollantaytambo at 2:55 p.m. They estimate arriving back to Yoga Mandala between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. Since it is unlikely you will have time for a discussion this evening, you will take an informal discussion to the dinner table at 7:30 p.m.
You'll wake up to meditate and stretch your bodies with a yoga flow. After breakfast, the day is yours to explore, get a massage, or do some quiet introverting. You'll seal in the connections we've made this evening with a closing circle at 5:30 p.m. and end with a last communal dinner.
Before you part ways, you'll come together for one last meditation and yoga session. After breakfast (mid-morning), a private group shuttle will take you to Cusco. Thr official retreat terminates here, but you're encouraged to discover Cusco for a day or two before returning home. It's a magnificent city, so please make time to explore it!
Plan your travel so that your flight arrives in Cusco, Peru (CUZ) by morning or early afternoon of the day your trip begins. You will depart in a private group shuttle from Cusco on Friday, March 23rd at approximately 3:00 p.m. from Tierra Viva San Blas Hotel in Cusco.
Please plan your return flights so that it departs after 2:00 p.m. on the final day to allow enough time. They recommend you plan to spend at least that afternoon and evening in Cusco and depart the next day to enjoy Cusco!
If your travel falls outside of group transfers, you will be responsible for your transportation costs.
