During this retreat, you will stay in a shared room. Maya is an exquisitely restored heritage oasis that has maintained the charms of Dutch and British colonial architectural features in the most magical way. Surrounded by two acres of stunning gardens and lush green paddy fields, Maya shines in harmony blending modern luxury with traditional Sri Lankan charm. Maya’s five exquisitely decorated luxury suites all lead straight to the 20-meter pool.

Blending timeless and elegant interiors, stylishly decorated living space, and large luxury bathrooms, the rooms include air-conditioning and ceiling fans, a beach hat and a beach bag, custom designed king-size bed or deluxe single bed, a hairdryer, a bathrobe, toiletries, a rain shower, sweeping views of the gardens, pool or rice paddies, vintage furniture and designer furnishings, and Wi-Fi throughout the villa.

There is cable television in the pavilion and the library has a large selection of books, compact discs, and digital video discs. The team of 15 staff will provide a seamless experience at Maya. From the immaculate housekeeping to the outstanding kitchen staff and welcoming front of house, all is taken care for. Just sit back, relax, and let the dedicated team look after you.

Thekka

This room has original 25-feet high ceilings, original intricate lattice work, a towering king-sizes four poster bed draped by a mosquito net and antique fittings that evokes that colonial chic atmosphere so unique to Maya.

Khumbuk

This blissfully quiet room has a view of the garden. The beautifully high ceilings provide space and good ventilation. Similar in style and layout, Khumbuk is opposite to the Thekka room. Thekka and Khumbuk are ideal if you are coming to spend your holiday at Maya with your family.

Amba

Amba’s spacious suite in the new wing is an embodiment of modern luxury. It has clean lines, a dashingly decorated living space, and a large luxury bathroom. The sliding doors in both the room and the bathroom open out to a large private courtyard.

Ehela

Ehela’s spacious suite in the new wing is quintessentially modern. It has elegant interiors, stylishly decorated living space, and a large luxury bathroom. The sliding doors opening out to a large private courtyard are an invitation to simply relax and take in the surrounding nature. Identical to Amba but more private, this is one of the most popular rooms.

Kohomba

Enjoy the privacy of your own garden and courtyard. Finely decorated and retaining the sleek style of the villa, Kohomba’s sliding doors open out to a covered courtyard, extending directly to its own private garden.

With a range of physical practices on offer from power to restorative yoga, your body will be stretched, cleansed and opened to freedom. There will also be ample opportunity to explore the practices of mantra, mudra, pranayama and meditation. Adept at combining ancient wisdom with modern insights, our yoga instructor’s sensitive guidance will enable you to transform on every level through exploration of yoga and meditation.

"It's a beautiful peaceful paradise with fantastic food, a great team that look after every need you might have, an amazing yoga shala that looks out on to rice paddy fields, just 5 double rooms tastefully decorated to a high standard, access to yoga teachers, Tai chi and massage. This is the place to properly relax from the hustle and bustle of Sri Lankan town life. The moment you drive through the gates and are met by the staff your hearts softens and you sigh a deep release of tension. Well worth staying the week to recuperate, definitely a day or two is not enough since you might not want to leave! Have been here 12 days and I know I will miss it. Treat yourself, you won't regret it."

"I really enjoyed the architecture +design of this place, especially the rooms in the new wing(Last time I stayed in the old House)we were very well looked after and I am especially grateful + impressed by Silva, who clearly keeps on the top of everything, keeps everything 5 star! He is a lovely man. The pool and grounds were beautiful and relaxing. My one suggestion would be to put floor to ceiling glass in the yoga shala on two walls as it got very very windy but I did not want to use the blinds as the view is so lovely."

"The cuisine is divinely sumptious, presentation extraordanaire and varied - we savoured the delicious local Sri Lankan dishes. The candlelit dinners by the pool so memorable, sipping on delicious cocktails and watching the sunsets. The staff were so attentive, professional, welcoming, charming and always helpful and smiling. A must is a visit all arranged and organised so well by the Maya team to the beach for a BBQ and the elephant safari and a trip to the sleeping Buddha. The staff made all the arrangements for the trips, transport, food etc. I can honestly say we were so sad to have to leave and say good-bye to this beautiful paradise, Maya, and the all the wonderful staff. A credit to Niki Fairchild for her vision and all the hard work done by her and her team to bringing her dream place to reality for us all to share. We will definitetly be back and Maya remains always in our hearts and memories. Thank you for making our holiday such a memorable and enchanting experience ."

"We have now been back to Maya three times in two years - and we don't tend to re-visit, so this place is extremely special. The whole atmosphere is 100% perfect for relaxing and just chilling. The accommodation, the service, the pool, the grounds and the location - it all adds up to an amazing place. Its set slightly inland (only about 10-15 minutes to the coast), set in paddy fields and when I first booked it I was a little uncertain on that front, but the breeze that blows up from the paddy fields is something special, the quiet, the birds - we didn't miss the sea one little bit! The food is imaginitive using local produce and the team at Maya can't do enough for you - plus Maya cocktails were an added bonus on the last visit. We will definately be returning - as often as possible!"

"We stayed here for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon. It is one of the best places we have ever stayed. From the moment we arrived we felt calm and serene. Maya is so luxurious but in an understated way, the rooms are beautiful and the food is the best we had in Sri Lanka. If you enjoy pure relaxation and serenity this is the place for you."
