Every morning, you will wake up at 06:30 a.m. for a chanting and meditation session and continue with a refreshing one-hour yoga and asana class to kick-start your day.

Day 1

Arrival at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (IXL) and check-in at the hotel. You can use this day to acclimatize. Later in the evening, you will pay a visit to Leh Market, Leh Palace, and Shanti Stupa. You will be spending the night at Hotel Leh.

Day 2

After breakfast, you will go cycling and visit Shey Palace, Thiksey, Hemis monasteries, Stok palace museum, and Sindhu Ghat. You will also be spending the night at Hotel Leh.

Day 3

After breakfast, you will be taken to Nubra Valley via Khardungla. After lunch, you will enjoy the camel safari at the sand dunes between Deskit and Hundur village. You will spend overnight at the Nubra Valley Hotel.

After breakfast, you will visit Deskit Monastery (Big Buddha), where you can have a magnificent view of Nubra Valley and drive back to Leh by the same route, crossing the Khardungla pass. You will spend the night at Hotel Leh.

Day 5

After having breakfast, you will be driven to Zingchen and start walking through Zingchen Gorge. There is a restaurant where you can stop for tea and snacks. As you continue trekking further, the gorge gets narrower and rugged. On the way, you might see snow leopard signs along the valley and the bottom of the side valleys if you are trekking during winter or early spring.

As you approach Rumbak fields, the valley suddenly opens up with snowcapped mountains in the background. From the fields, the path turns left eastwards for the Rumbak village, where a homestay is available. You will spend the night at a homestay.

Day 6

After breakfast, proceed for full day wildlife viewing with a trained local guide. Wildlife viewing possibilities are Blue Sheep, the Great Tibetan Sheep or the Argali, various mountain and migratory birds, high altitude flora, and occasionally a Tibetan wolf, or a snow leopard if luck favors. Ask your homestay operator for a local guide or village resource map to show directions for possible options. You will spend the night in a homestay.

Day 7

After breakfast, you will make an early start for your trek up the Stok for three hours. Follow the path on the extreme left along the south facing hillside. After one hour, the path gets slower as you start climbing up to the pass. From the pass, you can get great views of the Indus valley. Descend all the way down to the village of Stok. You will visit Stok Palace museum. After your adventure, you will be driven back to Leh where you will spend the night at Hotel Leh.

Day 8

After breakfast, you will leave for Pangong Lake through Changla pass, the third highest motorable road in the world. After arrival at the camp, you will have free time to enjoy the color changing lake and the sunset on the banks of the lake. You will spend the night at the Pangong Lake.

Manoj Rawat

Retreat location

This retreat will take place in Leh and Ladakh.

Leh, the erstwhile capital of the kingdom of Ladakh is now a dream destination of many and the Mecca of adventure enthusiasts. Known as the land of monks and monasteries, Leh is one of the coldest deserts in the world, located at a distance of 434 kilometers from Srinagar and 474 kilometers from Manali (Himachal Pradesh). At the time of reorganization of districts in 1979, Ladakh was divided into Leh and Kargil. Now, Leh district is synonymous with Ladakh and vice-versa.

Situated in the far north of the sub-continent, over 3500 meters (11,500 feet) up on the high plateau, Ladakh is often referred to as the "little Tibet". Having been part of British India, it was subsequently absorbed into independent India in 1947. Ladakh's geography protected it from the ravages of the Chinese Cultural Revolution as a result of which it contains one of the most intact Tantric Buddhist societies left on earth.

With a high altitude desert dominated by rugged snowcapped mountains and deep turquoise lakes, it is one of the most picturesque places on earth.
