It was a really calm and nice area.
I was the only guest. There was a storm before so There was no electricity. It wasn’t their fault but it made it very uncomfortable to stay there. The Programme was not as good as expected. I expected an introduction into Hatha Yoga, Ayurvedic Medicine and the temple, but nobody taught anything about any of the topics. The Ayurvedic treatment was a full body massage. Nothing really special, though very nice and relaxing.
The room was dirty and the shower was broken, the food was not good and just not enough.
For me it was a lot of money I spent for this experience and I regret to have spent it on the Mangrove Villa.

Yoga was great start for the day, very good for beginners. Massage and herbal bath was nice and relaxing. Very nice, quiet place, room was good and clean with AC. Short tuk tuk ride to Bentota beach! Nice location and atmosphere.
The food was Ok, but not delicious. During the one week stay, we were expecting better variaton of meals. Schedule of the retreat was unclear, manual would have help. As the retreat was for beginners, couple lectures about yoga and ayerveda would have been good!

Mangrove Villa is in a beautiful setting and very peaceful. The massages were great and so we're the 2 Yoga sessions I experienced.
I found the setting a bit remote. If you are able to ride a motorcycle it would be great.
I also assumed I would be able to swim in the river to cool off but this is not the case as there are crocks.

Hello, I think that Mangrove Villas is an inexpensive place to stay when in the Bentota area. As far as a yoga retreat I would describe it as lacking. It seems they aren't completely set up to offer all of the advertised treatments. I only received 2 of my 6 yoga sessions and the ayurvedic treatments offered were devoid in variety. The original email I was sent from the manager offered a list of different treatments but mine were a focus around being massaged with oils. There was 1 person conducting the yoga and treatments. He worked at another resort so my treatments seemed to be scheduled around his other job. Overall I would say that what they offered was amateurish but that may be why the prices are lower than everywhere else.

I stayed in Mangrove Villa for a week and it was amazingly relaxing experience. beautiful river view every morning, all the palm trees and plants and wildlife that comes to the garden makes you feel like you are in a nature reserve. Plus lovely friendly pets around! There are yoga lessons with experienced and accepting teacher and professional Ayurveda treatments. And food! Traditional Sri Lankan meals or Ayurvedic diet or you can prepare your own meals in a big shared kitchen. Staff is very friendly and you can always count on their help and advice.

Mangrove villa is the perfect place to go if you need a real break. It is situated on the bank of the Bentota River and is surrounded by a mangrove trees and coconut trees. Very peaceful and quiet place. Friendly service, Comfortable rooms, delicious food, perfect ayurveda massage, yoga and nature around 14 days. Everything was perfect and we were very happy afterwards. Thanks for that!
We stayed a week at the Mangrove Villa and had a wonderfully relaxing time. They have a huge garden facing the Bentota River. We booked the river view bungalow, which was comfortable and very clean and included a private garden. The staff was very nice and helpful. The food was delicious, and the massage and yoga made me feel perfectly relaxed. Mangrove Villa is close to Bentota Beach (10 minutes away by tuk tuk). Local attractions are very near, such as the Turtle farm that is 15 minutes by tuk tuk, and the Kande Vihara temple that is 10 minutes by tuk tuk. This place will make you feel perfectly relaxed and will feel just like home.
Mangrove Villa is a very nice, small, and quiet place. It is surrounded by amazing nature (river and jungle garden). We stayed two nights in a nice, clean, and big white bungalow with an amazing view of the river and garden. You can watch and hear animals all the time, including many kinds of birds, fruit bats, mongooses, varans, etc. However, it is a little bit far away from the beach and shops, but is still only a 10 minutes on tuk tuk away. The breakfast that was included was modest but good. For us, it was a nice experience and we got to experience a different kind of living in Sri Lanka.
Clean, comfortable, and spacious rooms. The staff is really friendly, helpful, and professional. The young man who served us breakfast was always smiling and very professional too. We went on a river safari with a really good guide where we saw crocodiles, chameleons, kingfishers, and snakes. I definitely recommend Mangrove Villa!

We booked a two-week Ayurveda treatment package in Mangrove Villa. They provided excellent service. The staff is friendly, and the healthy food is always specially catered by the chef according to our body type. Dr. Priyani is very friendly and provided us with useful treatment and medicine. We highly appreciated her service. The bungalow room was comfortable, clean and had a nice view of the Bentota River. Mangrove Villa is the perfect place to relax and recover. We will be back next year.
Mangrove Villa is a unique getaway. With only six or seven rooms, it is private and far away from the tourist traps. It is situated on the side of the river where you can see king fishers and lazy water monitors. It was a good place to relax and refresh myself. My favourite place was sitting by the river and watching the water go by. The staff was very helpful, considerate, and accommodating. They even made special meals suited to my preferences. Be prepared to enjoy tasty and healthy Sri Lankan meals, including breakfast. However, make some allowances for Western type breakfasts. Do take a yoga mat with you if you are going to be learning and practicing yoga.

We booked a trip to Sri Lanka very last minute, and decided to stay at Mangrove Villa as it looked very peaceful and relaxing, we were not disappointed. We stayed 9 nights and had the most enjoyable, relaxing holiday we could have wished for. Mangrove Villas are situated in a quiet village, 10 minutes via Tuk Tuk from Bentota and the beach. The villas are set in "jungle" natural gardens on the banks of the river Bentota with an abundance of local wildlife. Brightly coloured birds woke you in the morning with their birdsong, and the last sound you heard at night was the geckos and crickets. The accommodation is very basic, but comfortable and clean, which is all that matters. We had our own balcony to sit and watch the world go by. We stayed half board and the food was amazing. On our first day we advised that we would prefer to eat Sri Lankan food rather than western food and we were spoiled. The Chef prepared something different for us every breakfast and evening. All very fresh and tasty, with nothing too much trouble. Overall the service at Mangrove Villa was excellent, always service with a smile and the willingness to help wherever possible. We definitely plan to return. Mangrove Villa provides an opportunity to experience real Sri Lanka without the hustle and bustle and the taint of over commercial tourism. Very much no frills with regards to the accommodation but 5* service, food and cleanliness. I would highly recommend Mangrove Villa. Thank you to all at Mangrove for a wonderful holiday!
