Amorgos is the easternmost island of the Greek Cyclades group with around 1,900 friendly inhabitants who are mainly spread out between two small port towns at either end of the island and a few picturesque mountain villages in between.
There's no airport, meaning the island if only accessible by ferry, and the fact that it's naturally covered in thriving, medicinal wild flowers, herbs, and plants all surrounded by crystal clear water which makes it the perfect location for a deeply-relaxing escape.

The Ambrosia Gallery Restaurant is where you will have your Greek and / or continental style breakfast with organic ingredients from the hotel garden and your plentiful vegetarian and vegan dinners. It boasts uninterrupted and enchanting views out over the bay to the mountains of Aegialis, making meal times a but of a magical experience, a secret haven of peace and tranquility.
Group excursions of ancient Amorgos are available and can be arranged and booked with the hotel reception team. It is also possible to hire a car to explore the island. Fancy a dip in the tempting turquiose waters? The sandy beaches are only a stone's throw away from the hotel.
After your swim and before you can relax on the beach, you can have a lazy-lunch at one of the unique beachfront restaurants where you can sample the local and traditional Greek dishes on offer and constantly changing mountain-framed view of the bay. Here are also a few extra activities you can enjoy:
This monastery was built upon the ruins of an ancient water oracle and was dedicated to god Apollo. You can still see the water running in the church.
Learn traditional Greek and Amorgian recipes, easily done at home upon return. This activity costs 35 EUR per person including lunch from the dishes prepared during class.
Including a visit to the 1000-year old monastery of Panagia Chozoviotissa, which was built in the cliffs 300 meters above the sea.
This activity costs 15 EUR per person.
Learn about the world famous local herbs of Amorgos and its medicinal and cosmetic properties. This activity costs 25 EUR per person.
Visit the villages of Tholaria, Langada, and Potamos for 15 EUR per person.
Chora has picturesque valleys, 40 churches, and 12 windmills on the surrounding hills. This tour costs 35 EUR per person.
Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request. You can fly-in to either Athens International Airport (ATH) or Naxos Island National Airport (JNX). Arriving into Athens is the lower priced of the two possible routes and offers you the opportunity to, maybe, arrange a bonus stop-over in Athens and explore the city this way.
Naxos is the higher priced of the two possible routes, reducing ferry travel time to three and a half hours, ideal if you are not up for the adventure of getting to Amorgos from Athens, but it is quite tricky to get the Amorgos-Naxos ferry and Naxos flights to sync up.
First and foremost, you will need to be at the port of Piraeus, Athens, no later than 16:30, on Tuesday, April 5 - the ferry departs for Amorgos at 17:30, and if you miss the boat you will have to wait 24 hours for the next one. Your transfer coach will collect you when you disembark on Amorgos.
"Mahala is a naturally tuned-in yoga teacher. She instinctively knows and feels the energy and mood of the class and tailors the sequences and postures accordingly. I have been practicing yoga for more than seven years now and never felt such a connection to a teacher before. I am so happy to have found her and recommend her to all my friends and my husband now comes every week too! I feel that my understanding of yoga has deepened and listening to my body and trusting it with guidance from Mahala has been wonderful. Not only that, my body has never been in better shape with more definition and core strength than ever before. If you want a yoga class to be more than just physical and a spiritual, energetic, positive experience, Mahala's classes are for you."

"During my first class with Mahala, I burst into laughter in the middle of my very first tree pose. Why haven't I started this before? What took me so long to start appreciating my body, my mind and my breath? The whole is bigger than the sum of its parts. I thought I understood the meaning of this until I started doing yoga with Mahala. Some people feel the effects of yoga faster than others. I was one of those who felt it fast. Yoga practice made me proud of my body and love every single part of it. And the more I loved it, the more I aware I became - of it's details, of it's changes, of it's beauty... of what it really held inside. My soul. If this body is the place that my soul calls home, I thought to myself one day, I'd better make it a brilliant one. Master your body to ease the path for your mind to do what it really wants to do. You might want to start by balancing out a tree pose. But trust me, you will grow far beyond the tree you were expecting to see."

"I first met Mahala nine months ago. I only did two classes with her before I decided to go on a yoga retreat to India with her! We had a fantastic time in Goa last autumn with a group of her yoga students and I have also since been to the wonderful island of Amorgos on another retreat with Mahala. I love Mahala's classes because she inspires me to go further. Mahala always says "just try and move a millimetre more" and I find I can move a couple of centimetres more! When I start to learn a pose I always think "I'll never be able to do that" but with Mahala's encouragement I find that each week I improve a little more."
"Yoga is changing my life for the better. I feel stronger, calmer, happier, more flexible, more confident, have better posture and sleep better. This inspires me to carry on. I have not felt so committed to any exercise programme before and this is due to Mahala's encouragement and supervision. We also have a lot of fun and laughter in the class! I recommend Mahala wholeheartedly and am so glad I met her."
