Accommodation

You will stay at Quinta Mimosa for six nights. Quinta Mimosa is a traditional Portuguese farmhouse that has been carefully converted into three, comfortable self-contained units and a delightful loft with a private balcony overlooking the orchard. These offer spacious accommodation for 18 people in double rooms, each with private bathroom and air conditioning.

Both farmhouses have their own swimming pool. Further accommodation above the studio provides an ideal venue for larger groups. Included is a daily maid service. Bed linen, that is dried in the sunshine, is changed once a week and towels twice a week. Quinta Mimosa is wheelchair friendly.

Macalla Farm Portugal Yoga Retreat Program

The day will start with a silent meditation, followed by a two hours of asana (posture) class then by brunch. There is some free time then to read, walk, or relax by the pool before a two hours of pranayama and meditation class in the afternoon followed by dinner. After dinner, there will be a 30-minute meditation session.

On this course, Christophe, your instructor, will not charge a fixed price for his teaching, but instead allows participants to decide at the end of the course, how much they want to contribute toward it. This is Dana, the practice of generosity.

By turning on its head the capitalist assumption that everything has a price, the practice of Dana in the contemporary world is an attempt at building a new economic paradigm, in which you take what you need and give what you can. Rather than entering into a provider and consumer relationship, Christophe invites you on this course to explore economic relationships which contribute towards a culture of sharing.

At the end of the course, you will be invited to support Christophe's work by anonymously placing whatever money you feel moved to give him in a donation box.

Of course, he needs financial contributions to continue running courses in the same spirit, and the donation economy should not be seen as a “cheap option”, but he also appreciates that you may only be able to give less.

As this course included around 40 hours of teaching, Christophe suggests a donation amount between 250 and 500 EUR, with the lower end of the scale intended for people with very limited means. If your financial circumstances are comfortable and you value what Christophe offers, please consider giving generously.

Christophe
Christophe was originally trained as an Iyengar teacher in the late 1990s, but his practice and teaching have since been influenced by a number of other yoga styles, particularly Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and the Atma Vikasa style of Acharaya Venkatesh (from Mysore, India), his main teacher for a number of years. He also teaches pranayama and has been practicing various styles of Buddhist meditation for many years.
