At Luna Alignment Yoga we wish to give our students a deep learning experience of realigning their body, mind and emotions with nature.

We offer 100-Hour, 200-Hour and 300-Hour Advanced - Yoga Alliance Certified - Alignment & Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Training Courses, on the beautiful island of Koh-Phangan, Thailand.

We strongly believe in our unique approach of facilitating only 4 trainings a year which allows us to dedicate ourselves fully and to put all our hearts and efforts in every course and every student

An additional important aspect of our concept is that we have our own permanent in-house small and highly experienced team of teachers - we have already certified more than 260 graduates in 11 different courses, all lead by our Yoga Director and Head Teacher, Tal Swissa and the rest of our exceptionally skilled team who, together, have over 45 years of combined teaching experience.

This 100-Hour Yoga Therapy and Alignment Yoga Teacher Training Course is a two-week program composed of two segments:

  • 5 Days - 25-Hour Yoga Therapy training: 'Yoga for a Happy Back' led by Rachel Krentzman
  • 9 Days - 75-Hour Alignment Yoga training: 'Defining Our Core' led by Tal Swissa and Arnaud Chartier

There are two days-off during the training, one between the segments and one within the second segment..

The common accommodation of the island is self-contained bungalows, in different proximity to the beach. Luna Alignment Yoga offers several accommodation options, all in a walking distance from their school. Depending on your preferences and the availability, they can supply the bungalow you desire. Demand, however, is changing with time and location, so they recommend to contact them as quickly as possible.

They are here for you and they will do everything necessary to make sure you have the right and suitable choice of accommodation that will allow you to have a relaxed homely environment during the teacher training course and to enjoy the island during your stay.

Program

An intensive immersion on therapeutic yoga for back and neck conditions. An exploration of the core of your body. Enrich you with the important principles behind body structure, alignment, and therapeutic yoga. Integrate this knowledge in your self-practice and teaching, taking it to the next level. Get a better understanding of your own body-mind-emotion patterns and connections related to posture and core.

Upon completion of the first segment, you will receive a YACEP-25 (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Program Certification), also approved as Continuing Education by IAYT International Association of yoga therapists and you will additionally receive a YACEP-75 (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Program Certification) after completing segment two.

Segment 1 - 5 Days 25-Hour with Rachel Krentzman PT, E-RYT, C-IAYT

Curriculum

This segment is an intensive immersion on therapeutic yoga for back and neck conditions. Each day will include:

  • Anatomy and bio-mechanics
  • Pathology and understanding common conditions
  • Therapeutic sequences
  • Experiential practice - how to adapt and modify your and your students' yoga practice

The training will cover the following topics:

  • Day 1 and 2 - The lower back, pelvis, and hips
  • Day 3 - The sacroiliac joint
  • Day 4 - Yoga for scoliosis
  • Day 5 - Yoga for upper back, neck, and shoulders

About Rachel Krentzman

Rachel will be a special guest teacher of Luna Alignment Yoga for this unique training.

She is a Physiotherapist (PT), E-RYT 500, C-IAYT - certified Yoga therapist, founder and director of Embody Physical Therapy and Yoga in San Diego, California. She organizes Yoga In Medicine Conferences for the UCSD Center for Integrative Medicine. Her book Yoga for a Happy Back: A Teacher’s Guide to Spinal Health through Yoga Therapy was be published in May of 2016, and her second book Scoliosis, Yoga Therapy and The Art of Letting Go was released September 2016.

Segment 2 - 9 Days 75-Hour with Tal Swissa and Arnaud Chartier

Curriculum

This segment is an exploration of the core of your body. Its aim is to enrich you with the important principles behind body structure, alignment, and therapeutic yoga, so that you can integrate this knowledge in your self-practice and teaching, taking it to the next level. You will get a better understanding of your own body-mind-emotion patterns and connections related to posture and core.

  • Pelvic floor anatomy and health
  • Proper use of Mula Bandha
  • Psoas muscle anatomy and release
  • Nervous system exploration and anatomy

  • Two daily yoga classes

About Tal Swissa and Arnaud Chartier

Tal, Founder and Yoga Director, and Arnaud are the lead teachers in Luna alignment Yoga's permanent in-house team. Together they have led 11 TTCs and certified over 260 teachers since started their collaboration in Koh-Phangan in 2016.

With years of practice and teaching experience they each bring their unique knowledge, teaching specialties and styles which interlace together perfectly, so that the students are offered a complete and profound view on the world of yoga and its therapeutic approach.

Luna Alignment Yoga is located in the small yogi Srithanu village on the breathtaking Koh Phangan Island, Thailand.

Their venue is situated in the lovely tranquil Pranayama Garden quietly nestled in the green, lush, and rich jungle surroundings of the island.

The school is only a few minutes' walk from the beach and the accommodations we offer.

Food

All of your food is vegan (mostly Asian style) and provided by the well-known Art Café restaurant in Koh Phangan, who is happily serving the island community since its opening back in 2009. Food is prepared with love and attention, made out of fresh and local ingredients, aiming to provide a notorious, rich and healthy eating experience. As a bonus, all Luna Alignment Yoga teacher training course students are entitled to a 15 percent discount when dining in the Art Café restaurant and other selected restaurants in the village.

This magical island offers a wide variety of experiences and things to do; sandy white beaches with crystal clear water, turquoise lagoons, overwhelming sunsets, massages and spa treatments, jungle hikes in the beautiful nature surroundings, magnificent waterfalls, delicious Thai food, tropical fruits, a variety of vegan restaurants, and a wide range of holistic activities and spiritual workshops.

The local established yogi community in Srithanu village (where Luna Alignment Yoga is located) gives you the opportunity to socialize and interact with like-minded people. For example, the well-known daily sunset gathering at Zen beach, where you can meet new friends for acro-yoga, musical jam sessions, meditations, dancing, swimming, or just lying down on the soft white sand in front of the breathtaking sunset or chilling around the bonfire. Really, it makes a yogi's heart sing.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Samui Airport (USM). The nearest airport to Koh Phangan is in Koh Samui. At the airport counter (right when you make your way out of the airport), you can buy, on arrival, a joint ticket for a taxi to the pier and ferry to Koh Phangan. You can go there after you pick up your luggage and they will tell you when is the next ferry leaving, and sell you the joint ticket.

Another, usually cheaper, option is to fly to Surat Thani International Airport (URT) on the mainland. From Surat Thani International Airport (URT), you would need a joint bus and ferry ticket to arrive to Thong Sala pier in Koh Phangan, and this journey would take several hours. It is advised to purchase the tickets in advance.

Arrival by ferry / boat

Ferries depart several times daily from Samui to Thong-Sala pier in Koh Phangan with the last one at around 4:30 p.m.

Arrival by taxi

Taxi ride from the airport to the pier will take about 15 to 30 minutes and the ferry ride about 30 to 45 minutes.
