Julie Moksim

Yoga Alliance International (Hatha Yoga, Power Yoga, Nidra Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga)

Julie is a Yoga Alliance registered teacher. She incorporates all of her past experiences into her teaching style. She teaches Hatha, Power, Vinyasa Flow, and Nidra yoga styles. Julie began her yoga practice in 2003 in USA. She studied at the Baron Baptiste Power Yoga Studios where she practiced Power Vinyasa yoga, a dynamic flow which synchronizes breathing and movement. She trained as a teacher in Bali, Indonesia at Shakti Spirit Yoga with Rachel Hull along with a strong Ayurvedic component.

Mira

(Yoga)

Mira is a 500-hour certified yoga teacher, trained in India in classical Hatha and holistic yoga. Her teaching style focuses on slowing down each asana to reconnect with the body and quiet the mind in order to reap the therapeutic and transformative benefits of the practice. She has been practicing meditation and studying Buddhism and mindfulness in the Theravada and Mahayana traditions under several great teachers in Asia and the West since being introduced in Sri Lanka in 2011, and became a certified teacher of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) in 2017.

Antje

Antje practiced different types of yoga for 15 years until she moved to Thailand for a job. In Chiang Mai, she started practicing Ashtanga and Vinyasa on a regular basis and only then did the prana really hit her and she understood what has meant by 'Yoga is something I am, not something I do'. She wanted to learn more about the philosophy behind this movement therapy and spread the love.

"What a beautiful place for a yoga retreat. Julie, the teacher, is lovely. I really liked the alignment classes. It gave me a deeper understanding of some yoga postures."

"I had an absolutely wonderful time in the yoga retreat. Luang Prabang yoga is doing such a rejuvenating program. The place they're chose for the retreat was perfect. Mandala Ou Resort in Nong Khiaw was just as serene as I needed it to be. Julie was very hands on in knowing each retreat students individually in terms of our personal yoga needs and injuries as well. I heard they're going to do a 100 hours teacher training. If they are, I'd love to join! I give them a 9.5 for my super gratefulness to be able to experience a yoga retreat as soul fulfilling as that."

"I acquired a great deal of knowledge in a great location! Daphne is extremely knowledgeable, and she is great about sharing this knowledge in a fun and easy to grasp way. It was the perfect length of time and the training was taught with a positive and dynamic energy. I would love to learn more from her in the future! And the location - Mala Dara - was gorgeous! Thanks Daphne for including me in the training! Look forward to seeing what comes up next!"

"Definitely check out Utopia during your stay. Not only to just read and relax on the riverfront (the Nam Khan), but also to do their evening sunset yoga on their patio with Julie. This was excellent!"

"Yoga in the morning, delicious food for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails, and board games in this laid back hangout spot will make you want to come back again and hang out even longer. I’d have hung out here more often if I had more money too. Definitely one of the places you’d want to visit while in Luang Prabang."

"I discovered Julie is spearheading a fledgling yoga community in Luang Prabang, teaching and organizing classes and workshops for the many travelers that come through, as well as the local expat community. It’s real. It’s raw. From an outdoor deck overlooking the Nam Khan river to a creaky room in an active Buddhist temple complex, the locations are truly inspiring. I’m used to practicing yoga at home or in a standard yoga studio. This was a treat. And a challenge too (think, mosquitos at dusk)."

"I am a beginner to yoga, and I had had only one class of Hot yoga prior to this yoga retreat. Located at the Mandala Ou guesthouse on a river nestled between two beautiful mountains, the scenery was perfect: tranquil and majestic. I wasn't too thrilled initially about waking up at 06:00, but I quickly grew to appreciate being up at the crack of dawn to witness the waking up of nature around me while the sun rose. Julie and Kathrin, our yoga instructors, were well-suited to their job: they recognized that they had a group which varied in age and yoga experience and organized the classes such that each individual was able to learn something not an easy feat. If you are considering participating in a yoga retreat, I would highly recommend this one."

"I had a wonderful experience, enjoyed the holistic approach to the retreat, and learned more about yoga from Kathryn and Julie than I have from any other instructor I've had before. Also the Mandala Ou is an amazing hotel and the dinner buffets prepared by the owner Nic were absolutely delicious."

"This was my first time doing yoga and I had no idea what to expect, but this went way above anything I anticipated. The accommodation and the yoga shala is set among beautiful scenery. Rooms are spectacular and the staff wonderful. The two yoga instructors are so amazing. Very inspiring and encouraging. I enjoyed every part of this retreat. They had a great variety from practical yoga to meditation. They also cater to all levels and you also have a chance to have a one on one chat with them too. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting Luang Prabang or Nong Khiaw."
