Explore Anafi Island and Yoga Retreat Greece

These retreats are especially designed to revive body, mind and soul, through a unique combination of yoga classes, trekking tours and creative activities, all with an amazing view of the Aegean Sea.

Every week of June and September will be a completely unique experience, with a different focus and instructor.

You will start each day with meditation and pranayama sessions, enjoying the unforgettable view of the sun rising by the rock of Kalamos and enjoy your asana practice with an endless view of the sea, waking up your body in the best possible way.

Followed by a delicious wholesome breakfast, you will be ready for a day exploring the island. Feel free to wonder off in the amazing trails leading to the most beautiful unexplored beaches, swim in the crystal clear water, read a book under a tree on a golden sandy beach or connect with new interesting people. There will be plenty of free time between the activities for everyone to enjoy the island, depending on their needs and preferences.

Every week is a perfect opportunity to enjoy your holidays in the sun, relax, reconnect with yourself, release tension and experience a simple way of life close to nature, on this very special island!

Accommodation

Just a few meters from this amazing beach, in a peaceful environment surrounded by a lovely flower and vegetable garden, lies the traditional restaurant of Zabeta and the small apartments that will accommodate our group.

There are 8 rustic and simple rooms, with their own private bathroom, mini kitchen and balcony with a wonderful view of the sea or the garden.

There’s also the possibility to camp under the trees and sleep under the stars, as the beach is a very popular destination for free campers.

Program

LU Creative team has designed a full schedule for this summer, where every week will be a completely unique experience.

In June, excellent yoga instructors will lead specifically focused workshops on Iyengar Yoga, Mindfulness and Sound Therapy with singing bowls.

In September, Hatha yoga classes in the morning will be followed by African Drumming and African Dance workshops in the evenings.

The schedule for each week includes plenty of free time between the organized activities, for everyone to enjoy the island, the beach and the sun.

Included excursions

Many trekking tours will be organized throughout the week in order to explore and discover the hidden beauties of this very special island. The highlight will be an exciting trekking tour to the gigantic rock of Kalamos, the second largest solid rock in the Mediterranean after Gibraltar. This rocky formation, in the eastern edge of the island, is particularly renowned to the experienced climbers and mountaineers.

The trek has an approximate duration of 90 minutes in an ascent of 461 meters. An old monastery lies at the top with a 360-degree view of the sea and the surrounding islands in the horizon. The excursion will begin at early dawn in order to reach the top in time for a silent meditation during sunrise, an undoubtedly unforgettable experience.

Marilou is the founder of LU Creative Studio, an artistic multiplex where creative workshops, alternative yoga retreats, and special events are organized. She studied management and communications and participated in various arts and crafts workshops, including photography, pottery making, and sewing classes. She also started practicing yoga from a very early age with a variety of instructors and participated in many theoretical courses and workshops in Greece and abroad. She enjoys teaching in beautiful landscapes and to combine the benefits of yoga with a simple way of life close to nature.
Roza Menta
Roza started her self yoga practice in 2005 with Swami Nirvikalpa. Her teaching incorporates elements of Satyananda and Kundalini Yoga, always with the aim for the practicioner to work on the body, as well as on a clearer consciousness of their own existence, separating the 'self' from emotions and thoughts. In order to create an ideal exercise and meditation environment, she uses the sound of the Tibetan singing bowls, also used for personal sound therapy sessions.

Retreat location

Anafi Island

Anafi is a small island situated on the southeastern side of Cyclades, close to Santorini. Due to its small size and few inhabitants, Anafi remains a pure island, untouched by mass tourism. It has only one village and numerous crystal beaches around its coastline.

Chora

Chora, the capital village, is constructed on the mountain slopes and offers a breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea, as well as unforgettable sunsets and sunrises.

The village is built on the ruins of a Venetian castle, with the distinct Cycladic architecture of small white houses and blue window frames, decorated by colorful flowers. Isolated in its simplicity, Anafi is the ideal location for this alternative retreat.

Roukounas

Roukounas will be the base for most of our activities. Roukounas is about 10-minute drive from the main village ‘Hora’ and about 1-hour walk through a marked trekking trail.

There is a bus going from Hora to all the beaches (including Roukounas) and back a few times per day, but you can also rent a car or a scooter if you prefer.

Food

A delicious breakfast will be offered daily, following the morning yoga practice on a wonderful terrace with a beautiful view. Breakfast meals will include a variety of healthy options, such as fresh and dried fruit, nuts, and seeds, local honey, cheese and yogurt, freshly baked bread, and more. This will provide your body with all necessary elements and nutrients to help you keep up with the ongoing activities.

Zabeta’s restaurant offers all-day snacks, homemade pies and drinks, but also prepares traditional Greek recipes throughout the day with fresh ingredients picked from the vast vegetable garden.

There are many more options for lunch and dinner around the island, especially in the main village.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Santorini (Thira) International airport (JTR) or Athens International Airport El. Venizelos (ATH).

You can reach Anafi only by boat either from the port of Santorini (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes) or from the port of Piraeus, Athens (approximately 10 hours).

Boat schedules for the summer of 2018 have not yet been officially announced, but there is an all year connection from Santorini to Anafi every Saturday.

A private boat can be hired to transfer groups of at least 10 people from Santorini to Anafi and back.

Spending some time in Santorini before or after the retreat is highly recommended, so please get in contact LU Creative Studio to help you make your traveling arrangements.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 17% of the total price.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 30 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
