During this retreat, you will be staying in chalets or caravans which are provided by Lower Shaw Farm. Duvets and pillows are provided. Should you decide to upgrade the accommodation, you can stay at a room in the main farmhouse at an additional cost (20 GBP or 15 GBP per person extra for twin / double / triple occupancy). Please request the upgrade to Lower Shaw Farm on your booking.

On this retreat, you will enjoy Iyengar yoga classes that are taught in a way that is suited for beginners and more experienced practitioners. The classes will focus on postures to improve flexibility, strength, and balance. The weekend will also include sessions on giving and receiving a relaxing and toning massage, covering different areas of the body.

On Saturday, there will be an early morning pranayama (breath control) class. It is then followed by breakfast, a two hour asana (postures) class, and a massage class. After lunch, you will have the options to relax at the farm, use the rustic sauna, or go on a led walk in the local countryside. In the late afternoon, you can join the restorative asana session or the massage class.

In the evening, there will be either a guided meditation, foot baths, or time to relax around the wood burning stove. On Sunday morning, the program will be the same as Saturday’s with a late lunch. Then, you will depart in the afternoon from about 15:00 .

Lower Shaw Farm is located in Swindon, England, UK. The farm is a 3-acre oasis in an area of suburban development. It has developed an atmosphere and characteristic of its own with its large vegetable, herb, flower gardens, shrubs and trees, puddles and ponds, hens and ducks, black and white sheep, friendly pigs, vintage red tractor, and unspoiled areas for play and exploration.

Daily three meals will be provided for you during the retreat. If you have any special dietary requirements, the meals can be catered upon your request. Please send the inquiry to Lower Shaw Farm.

Driving directions from Central Swindon

  • Look for signs for the M4 (west) or West Swindon District Center (Link Center).
  • Leave at Junction 16 and follow signs towards Swindon (A3102).
  • At the first roundabout after the motorway, turn left.
  • Follow the Whitehill Way road over several roundabouts, pass the ‘link’ sports center to your right.
  • Go straight on until you see signs to Shaw, but ignore the first sign to Shaw & Lydiard Millicent.
  • Turn left as directed at a roundabout just before the big yellow ‘Meccano’ building.
  • Continue to follow the signs to Shaw, then turn left at the next roundabout.
  • Take the third turn on the left into Old Shaw Lane.
  • Lower Shaw Farm is on the right, 500 yards down the lane.

Driving directions from Cirencester

  • From Cirencester, take the A419 towards Swindon.
  • Take B4040 to Cricklade.
  • Through Cricklade, follow the signs to Malmesbury until you arrive at a mini roundabout.
  • From there, go straight on by following B4553 and the signs for West Swindon.
  • Eventually, you will pass Casa Paulo Restaurant on your left.
  • Not far from the pub, there will be a roundabout. From there, turn right and follow the signs to Peatmoor.*At the next roundabout, turn left.
  • At the next roundabout, turn right into Roughmoor Way.
  • At the next roundabout, turn left into Cartwright Drive.
  • Continue to the next roundabout and turn right into Shaw.
  • In a few yards, take the right turn into Old Shaw Lane.
  • Lower Shaw Farm is about 0.3 miles on the right.

Arrival by bus

There are two buses that run from Fleming Way to Shaw. Bus no. 19 leaves from stop E. Ask for the stop just before Brook Field School. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Walk in the same direction as the bus, and at the pelican crossing, take the tarmac path on the left. At the end of the path, turn right and after a few yards, you will find the farm entrance.

Bus no. 1 or 1A to Ramleaze also runs from stand G in Fleming Way. Ask for the Village Inn. Walk between the church and shops, then crossing a side road, look for the leafy footpath that runs alongside some sheltered housing (on the left), into Old Shaw Lane. Turn right and in a few yards you will see Lower Shaw Farm’s entrance.

Arrival by train

Swindon is easy to reach by train. From London, use London Paddington Station or Victoria Coach Station. It may be possible to get much cheaper train tickets in you book well in advance. Then, you can get to Lower Shaw Farm by bus or taxi.

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 33% of the total price.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 14 days before arrival.
