For this retreat, you will be staying in the Jambiani beach bungalows, which are situated right on the beach where you will hear the sound of the ocean as you fall asleep. Bungalows are shared with two or three people and each one has breathtaking views. The village itself is laid back and has all the traits of the traditional African lifestyle. Men are playing bao, women are embroidering hats, and the children are playing all sorts of games. Jambiani village is very colourful and always filled with laughter.

For the last night, you will be staying at the Kholle House, which is a boutique hotel filled with antiquities following the spice route.

Yoga classes

Every morning as the sun rises over the Indian Ocean, Paul will guide you through the first practice of the day and at sunset. An energizing and revitalizing combination of Hatha yoga postures to awaken your body and breath. This retreat is a precious time to connect, both inside yourself and with your Zanzibar community. Private lessons with Paul can also be added.

Day 1 - Saturday, November 12

Upon arrival, check in and enjoy a beach walk. At 18:00, welcome drink will be served at Helen's home and dinner at Jambiani beach bungalows.

Day 2 - Sunday, November 13

Start off your day at 07:00 with sunrise yoga overlooking the Indian Ocean and in the afternoon, enjoy a village exploration walk. Practice yoga at sunset at 18:00. Dinner will be served at 20:00 where you will get inspired with exotic new flavors.

Day 3 - Monday, November 14

Get up in the morning at 07:00 for a sunrise yoga overlooking the Indian Ocean. Then, get sailing with wood canoe, where you will step in a traditional wooden trimaran outside the hotel to experience the sparkling clear water that settles as a river. Anchor and swim from the boat and eat exotic fruits before you head back with the tide. At 20:00, dinner will be served with exotic new flavors.

Day 4 - Tuesday, November 15

Begin your day with a morning 07:00 sunrise yoga overlooking the Indian Ocean. You will then have an Ayurvedic workshop with Paul. At 18:00, practice yoga at sunset. For dinner, it is inspired by Ayurveda based on today's workshop.

Day 5 - Wednesday, November 16

Start off your day at 07:00 with sunrise yoga overlooking the Indian Ocean. You will spend your day visiting the village Muugoni where Rama show you health plants, spices, and fruits on the way down to the mangrove forest, which you will paddle in with a wood canoe. The women in the village will cook you a vegetarian lunch and will be eaten together at their home. Practice yoga at sunset at 18:00. Then enjoy dinner with exotic new flavors at 20:00.

Day 6 - Thursday, November 17

Start off your day at 07:00 with sunrise yoga overlooking the Indian Ocean. At 18:00, you will have a silent meditation walk at sunset over Michamvi. You will also enjoy a beach picnic and beach fire during the night.

Day 7 - Friday, November 18

Begin your day with a morning 07:00 sunrise yoga overlooking the Indian Ocean. You will then have a vegetarian spice workshop, where you cook lunch together with Paul and the chefs who will inspire you to cook in a new way with Zanzibari spices. Yoga at sunset will be at 18:00 and then dinner with exotic new flavors will be served at 20:00.

Day 8 - Saturday, November 19

Begin your day with a morning 07:00 sunrise yoga overlooking the Indian Ocean. Spend your day on the sea with snorkeling and excursion to Pungume Sandbank with seafood barbecue. Practice yoga at sunset at 18:00. For dinner tonight, you will be served with Zanzibar fruit and flavor explosion, which is fresh and grilled fruit and various dips and spices.

Day 9 - Sunday, November 20

Today, you will discover the soulful and impassioned UNESCO World Heritage Site Stone Town, where Africa meets the Omani empire with Indian influences. The various cultures add flavor and color to this old town lined with the turquoise Indian Ocean. At 09:30, you will proceed to Stone Town for some shopping.

At 15:00, participate in a Mrembo workshop with natural beauty products. Mrembo spa revitalized the Zanzibari traditional beauty treatments and uses only fresh flowers, herbs, and spices from Zanzibar. You will make your own coconut oil and spice scrub and get ideas to bring home.

You will have dinner at 18:00 at Emerson on Hurumzi, which is the best rooftop terrace in town with sunset and 270 degree sea view, mixed with the call for prayer from all over town. You will overnight at Kholle House, which is a boutique hotel filled with antiquities following the spice route.

Day 10 - Monday, November 21

    Paul is a yoga teacher, yoga therapist, massage therapist, Ayurveda practitioner, Thai-yoga massage therapist, reiki master, naturopath, and chef. He focuses on understanding the deep connection between the mind and body. Being mindful of this connection can help you connect deeper to the community around you and to life itself. Paul’s exploration of yoga has brought him to a place, where he has a deep desire to share his knowledge and experience with others. He wishes help people connect and find balance, healing, and joy.

This retreat take place on the pristine south east coast of Zanzibar, in Jambiani. Jambiani offers both beach and village life in a beautiful, exotic, and relaxed atmosphere. You will have time to wander in peace barefoot along the beach and amongst the palm trees where you might come across some hidden cosy bars and restaurants.

The wonderful warm turquoise water is calm and teaming with small fish. As the tide goes out, little rivers form between the sand banks where you wallow for hours soaking up the feeling of paradise. When you lie on your sun bed, you can observe life on the shore. Cows passing, fishermen lands with their wood boats, women culture and harvest seaweed, and children help their mothers find clams hidden in the sand.

Food served is a fusion of African and Indian flavors. Delicious vegetarian dishes will be prepared with the seasonal ingredients and spices of Zanzibar using Indian Ayurvedic principles. Fish can be added for anyone who would like it.

Dinner will be all together around a large table overlooking the ocean, where you can share food, stories, and be their own community. Spice tea, lemongrass tea, etc. are available throughout the day. You will have the opportunity to explore the village and along the beach for your lunch.

Jambiani is close to a variety of excursions such as swim wild dolphins, mangrove sailing, bird island, rainforest, Uzi Island, Pungume island, sunset over Chwaka Bay, The Rock Restaurant, and much more.
