The retreat is set in an unspoiled part of the island, with a long beautiful beach, olive groves and fruit trees, flowers and herbs around the accommodation. Accommodation is light and spacious, with air conditioning and private bathroom, a private terrace and view across the gardens to the beach. Twin / double and single rooms are available.

The daily schedule of this retreat begins everyday with morning Hatha yoga and at the end of the day with afternoon Yin-Ayurvedic yoga. You will be guided in nurturing sunrise and sunset beach meditations. Also, you will be offered occasional optional workshops on Yoga and Ayurveda philosophy. There will be free time to enjoy walks on the long deserted beach with stunning coastal scenery, swimming in the sea, biking, hiking, boat trips, and diving. On day 6 there is no afternoon practice to allow you time to explore the surroundings, maybe by taking a trip into the Troodos mountains, or visiting some of the wonderful archaeological sites of Cyprus. You will learn and take home tools and new insights to support balance, peace of mind, and greater well-being in your daily life, after living for one week in harmony with the natural rhythms of your body and nature, as guided by the ancient teachings of yoga and Ayurveda.

She is a qualified pregnancy yoga teacher and also trained with Nischala Joy Devi in Yoga for Cardiac Disease and Cancer. She also trained as an Ayurvedic Wellness Counsellor with Doctor David Frawley, and studied Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy with Mukunda Stiles. Additionally, she is a qualified aroma therapist and Journey therapist. Whilst living in the Bahamas and Canada in Siivananda ashrams, Shama studied Raja yoga and the sutras of Patanjali, and participated in intensive retreats based on the deeper practices of Hatha yoga. Both these trainings have influenced her teaching considerably.

Shama teaches classical Hatha yoga classes, yoga workshops and day retreats, beginners courses, and meditation in Stratford-upon-Avon and Wellesbourne, Warwickshire. For nearly 20 years, Shama spent a lot of time travelling across the globe, learning, and working with healing and spiritual practices. Her travels covered Japan, India, Thailand, Canada, USA, UK, and Bahamas. She began her formal yoga training and teaching at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat, Bahamas where she was on staff, offering private sessions and specialized yoga programmes (Yoga for Pain Relief, Healing Power of the Breath), as well as teaching Hatha yoga classes.

Shama draws on the teachings of the Sivananda Vedanta lineage, classical Hatha yoga, Raja yoga (Sutras of Patanjali), Ayurveda, and her yoga therapy training in all her teaching. When not teaching, Shama spends much time journeying more deeply into the practice and teachings of yoga, Ayurveda, and Vedanta, exploring the capacity of these ancient wisdoms to guide us toward healing and transformation of the human body, mind, and spirit.

"Thank you very much for everything last week. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and thank you for all your support when I had my emotional time! I thought the location was amazing I loved it and really enjoyed getting into yoga again. The meditation and chanting were so calming, I have been humming the chanting in the morning when I wake, doing some sun salutations in my garden first thing. Long may it continue! I would really like to come to one of your workshop days and I would love to come again next year! Lots of love and a huge thank you again for such a wonderful week."

"I have been on two of the Cyprus retreats and taken huge amounts away from both. I always thought I 'did' yoga prior to these retreats but I now realize I didn't really! With such a great teacher who truly cares, I have finally started to learn yoga; the mind, body, and soul kind! Thanks Shama."

"I attended the full moon retreat in May 2016. I had the chance to experience this through my friend who now lives in England and knows the talented Shama (since I live in Sweden). A retreat for body, soul, and mind, and I take many new skills, experiences, and friends with me home."

"Amazing full moon retreat in Cyprus led by Shama - full programme from dawn to dusk (nearly) going deeply into many aspects of yoga and the divine feminine. Thanks Shama for all the fun we had, the joy we shared, and the opportunity to deepen our practice in such beautiful surroundings. This was my second year on these retreats - looking forward to the next one!"

"Shama's dedication to and love of yoga in all its forms shines through in all of her teachings; it's a privilege to share in this. Both of the retreats I have enjoyed in Cyprus have been hugely life enhancing."

"Dear Shama, I contacted quite a few yoga teachers when making my first enquiries, and to be completely honest you were the only person who came back to me and said you would be able to help, which I find quite hard to believe considering that the benefits of yoga during any kind of life-altering situation like that are fairly well documented. As for myself, I truly believe that learning basic beginners poses and breathing exercises helped me immeasurably during my treatment last year, both physically and mentally. I feel that they (combined with traditional medical intervention) helped to keep my immune system healthy, strong, and on track not once during my treatment was I neutropenia, which I've been told is quite rare. Physically, the exercises helped ease general joint pain and my digestive system, and the arm / shoulder ones were a great accompaniment to the general physic exercises I had been set to help improve the movement in my arm post-surgery. I also found the short relaxation exercises you taught me invaluable in being able to mentally deal with the insomnia, which becomes part and parcel with all of the drugs. Post treatment, I have found the general mindset that you get from yoga to be brilliant in helping to deal with day-to-day stress: in going back to work, and also having to deal with the events of the last year. My arm is still at risk of lymphedema, and the gentle stretching that yoga encourages I have found to be the best way of helping to keep this at bay, and reducing symptoms when they start."

"I am 58 years old, female and always loved swimming and exercise but despite being active, I gained three stone in weight over a five year period. I thought I was lazy and greedy until I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I had so many clothes and shoes that I couldnt wear. At the start of this year I began to practice yoga with Shama in Alveston and Wellesbourne, and it has had a big impact on my weight, my shape and my health. Before I started to practice yoga, I had mobility problems due to pain, fatigue and insomnia. I could not work for long periods at the computer or standing due to pain. The pain began as two frozen shoulders which then lead to back pain. I had stopped doing a lot of things for fear of hurting my back. Yoga has given me the confidence to start doing all the things I had stopped doing for fear of triggering pain. I had always swam a lot and for 2 years did not swim which left me feeling weak and tired. I joined Walton Hall so that I could start practicing yoga. And after just four classes, I began to realized I was sleeping all night, waking up earlier, I could now do the gardening and computer work without having to stop. Yoga has given me the ability to work and play in a way I did in my youth. I have always had a happy disposition and a spring in my step, but I lost that due to pain. Yoga over the past 6 months has really healed a lot of the problems I had been having with my body. And through the education given in class, I now know that if aches and pains arise, I have the right understanding to get rid of the pain. One of the reasons I was attracted to yoga was to manage the challenge of my only child going off to university have been able to cope with the separation very well, I know it is early days but yoga has managed my moods through recent stressful events. After yoga I sleep soundly and wake up earlier than ever before have not had the usual reactive depression to these big changes that I probably would have had in the past before I took up yoga. Shama is a gentle teacher and has helped me to maximize my potential within the limits of my body, its strengths and weaknesses. I had a few private lessons in the beginning to learn the practices in detail, and this gave me the confidence to attend more classes and improve my own practice. I now have much more strength, flexibility and general confidence. And regular yoga practice has helped my health in many ways."

"Hi, Shama. Thank you so much for helping me with my lower back problems. The exercises you showed me have really worked and I have much less trouble getting to sleep. I was really impressed with the way you assessed my weak areas and designed a program specifically designed for me. I really enjoy your yoga classes too. I have tried yoga several times before and you are definitely the best teacher!"

If not, I may have to wait till one of my kids can do it for me when they come home! I would really like to come to one of your workshop days and I would love to come again next year! Lots of love and a huge thank you again for such a wonderful week."
