This yoga and meditation retreat will take place in a beautiful and unspoiled part of Cyprus, an area of outstanding natural beauty, steeped in the mythology of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of Love. It is an area held to have a particularly healing and sacred energy and just being in this place seems to deeply heal and uplift participants. With the support of the wisdom teachings of yoga woven into your classes, you will learn and experience much to enrich your health and your life generally. Most importantly, you will be guided toward a rejuvenating body-mind harmony that will allow you to rest in greater health, joy, and inner calm.
All accommodation is en-suite and spacious, with air-conditioning, a sea view and its own private terrace. There is a mini bar and a safe in each room. The rooms are cleaned daily and towels are provided.
There are two swimming pools, a gym, and sauna at the hotel for your enjoyment. A 5 EUR fee is charged by the hotel for use of the gym and sauna. The hotel provides beach towels and there are sun beds on the sea front, around the pools and in the gardens. There is plenty space to find your own quiet spot to rest in the sun, read a good book, journal or chat with friends. Bikes are available for hire, and there are also tennis courts.
It’s a very precious and blessed occasion when you have time to give yourself solely to yoga and meditation. This week in this beautiful remote part of Cyprus offers exactly that opportunity. It is perfect for anyone wishing to take time away from a busy life to move more deeply into the teachings and practice of yoga and meditation.
This weeks offers a chance to learn and explore the power of yoga to bring transformation to body, heart, and mind for greater health, happiness and peace of mind. It includes but is about much more than the physical aspects of yoga practice.
This week is for anyone who is serious about exploring and developing a connection to the life-enhancing energetic aspects of yoga posture, breath, Yoga Nidra, and meditation. The clear intention of this retreat is to guide participants to connect with the essence of yoga teachings and to know first-hand the "alchemical" transformative power of Hatha Yoga and Ayurveda.
The yoga classes draw from Shama's training in classical Hatha, dynamic Hatha, Ayurveda, Tantra, Restorative and Yin Yoga styles. They are supported by and informed by her training as an Ayurveda practitioner. You will be practicing outdoors on a yoga platform in the hotel gardens, a stone’s throw from the sea alongside a deserted unspoiled beach, with stunning views of the coast and mountains.
You will immerse in asana (yoga posture) practice not only for it’s fantastic physical effects, but also to build experience, understanding, and awareness of it’s impact on the body and mind energetically. You will look at how to engage different asana practices as a preparation for specific pranayamas (breathing practices) and the effect of those specific pranayamas as supports for various guided meditations.
You are therefore quite intentionally nourishing and harmonizing the physical body, restoring clarity and equilibrium to the mind, but also strengthening your connection with the heart and with spirit.
The morning classes will be a dynamic Hatha practice informed by Ayurveda-Tantra. The afternoon classes will be based on a steady meditative classical Hatha style.
Most mornings and evenings, you will gather on the beach or yoga platform and meditate together as the sun rises over the mountains and sets over the sea. On some nights, you will enjoy a small fire on the beach with sacred chants fireside-chants from different spiritual traditions on the beach. On other evenings, you will enjoy an outdoor candlelit Yoga Nidra practice.
Two years’ yoga experience is advised and a telephone chat to ensure that the retreat is right for you. Other than that an open-heart and receptivity to the wonderful ancient classical Yoga and Ayurveda teachings on offer.
The pre-requisites for this retreat are for everyone’s benefit to ensure a successful, safe and happy time for all in a retreat which includes but is about much more than physical yoga posture practice. Prior attendance at LoveYogaHealing classes, or attendance on a workshop or past retreat is recommended.

In between classes and meal times, you are free to enjoy the peace and quiet of the hotel gardens and beach, or to explore the beauty, history and culture of the surrounding area.
There is the nearby small town of Polis with its many cafes, restaurants and shops. It is just a 15-minute walk away. Alternatively, about a 30-minute walk up the beach is Laatchi with its many waterside tavernas.
Nearby sites of interest include Aphrodite’s Baths and the beautiful nature reserve of the Akamas Peninsula. It's becoming a tradition for the group to take an optional trip to Aphrodite baths and beach where there is a lovely taverna overlooking the stunning coastline on our day off, Friday.
There are jeep tours around the Akamas nature reserve, and boat tours to the wild and deserted Lara Bay and Blue Lagoon. Beyond Polis and further along the coastline are the lovely coastal villages of Argaka and Pomos, again with tavernas serving delicious meals. A little further afield in Paphos (about a 45-minute drive away), are wonderful archaelogical sites such as Tombs of the Kings and the Paphos Mosaics.
