Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel & Spa has 149 standard bedrooms and 11 apartments of a contemporary design located in the hotel part of the property, with the option of upgrading to one of the 37 superior rooms and suites in the beautiful sixteenth-century grade II listed hall. The hotel is a perfect wedding venue in Warwickshire with stunning grounds and dining. The spa has treatment rooms, a pool, and a gym. There are 22 conference rooms at the hotel, located within easy reach of Stratford upon Avon and Oxford with ample parking.

The yoga

The yoga classes will be created specifically to support the replenishing of your whole selves - body, heart, and spirit and strengthening of the immune system, and other body systems which tend to be weaker at this time of year. There will be morning Hatha yoga classes with postures, breathing practices, and guided deep relaxations. And afternoon restorative yoga practices, also with guided breathing practices and a healing visualization.

These practices should leave your body and mind feeling relieved of long held tensions, your heart nourished, your spirit uplifted, and ready for a balanced, healthier winter season.

So the morning Hatha yoga classes and afternoon Yin-Restorative yoga classes will all carry an intention to nourish the kapha dosha, soothe the heart and mind, and replenish your energy reserves to build vigor, strength, and immunity. The yoga classes will be followed by special breathing practices, healing visualizations, and meditations. The breathing practices and meditations are created to help relieve physical and emotional pain, to nourish the heart, uplift the spirits, and to restore positivity and optimism to the mind.

You will be practicing outdoors on a yoga platform in the hotel gardens, a stone’s throw from the sea alongside a deserted unspoiled beach, with stunning views of the coast and mountains.

The meditations

Morning and evening guided meditations will offer you a rare chance to rest in deep stillness, giving your nervous systems time to pause, and your the busy-ness in your minds a chance to subside. This is a time to reclaim that inner peace that is your birthright and yet so often eludes you in your busy daily lives.

    Shama learned yoga from her yoga teacher, who taught her the power of the breathing practices of Hatha yoga. She spent a lot of time traveling around the globe to places such as India, Japan, Thailand, Italy, USA, Canada, and the Bahamas, where she learned from and practiced many healing and spiritual traditions, before managing an integrative health clinic in London. She took her teacher training course from Sivananda Ashram yoga retreat in the Bahamas.

This rejuvenation yoga weekend set in the beautiful grounds of the Walton Hall estate, deep in the Warwickshire countryside, invites you to step away from your daily life for a few days to take rest in nature and give your body and mind a chance to relax and replenish. The whole ambiance of the Walton Hall estate with its gardens and pastures, surrounded to the sides by woods, makes this venue a perfect getaway for a weekend yoga break.

The place is easily accessible from most parts of the country, is close to many places of interest in the heart of England, and yet is deeply peaceful, beautiful, and alongside the yoga, meditation, and healthy foods on offer, could be just the restful and re-energizing tonic your body is looking for.

The chef in the hotel will create a special Ayurveda-influenced menu for you during this weekend. The foods will be 95% plant based, with a little dairy, and will be selected for their ease of digestion which should support the cleansing and healing work of your yoga practices. The foods will be balancing and at the same time rejuvenating for the body systems. There will be healing herbal teas offered during your morning and afternoon breaks.

Meals are taken in the old hall with views over the hotel gardens. Special dietary requirements can be met such as gluten-free, dairy-free, but please notify LoveYogaHealing in advance.

In between classes and meal times, you are free to enjoy the peace and quiet of the hotel garden or to explore the beauty, history, and culture of the surrounding area. There are pretty walks around the grounds.

A 10-minute drive away is Compton Verney, a beautiful estate whose house has been architecturally designed recently to be a wonderful museum and art gallery with many interesting exhibitions.

Stratford Upon Avon and Warwick are both only approximately a 20-minute drive away. You may like to take time between classes to visit the Shakespeare sites in Stratford Upon Avon or the historic castle in Warwick. Also nearby is the pretty market town of Shipston on Stour with many independent quality shops.

Driving directions from Walton Hall

  • Walton Hall is easily accessible by car from the M40.
  • From M40 (North) exit at junction 13. Turn left and then the first right.
  • Continue through to Newbold Pacey. Turn left at the T-junction in Wellesbourne.
  • Turn right after the Watermill and continue down the single lane for 1.5 miles.
  • From M40 (South), exit at junction 15. Take the fourth exit onto the A429 to Cirencester.
  • Continue through Barford and turn left at the roundabout for Wellesbourne.
  • Turn right after the Watermill and continue down the single lane for 1.5 miles.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Birmingham Airport (BHX). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request. A taxi to collect you from the airport. Otherwise, there is a train connection to Leamington Spa or Warwick Parkway from where LoveYogaHealing can arrange a taxi to collect you.
