This Spring Detoxification Yoga Ayurveda and Meditation Weekend set in the beautiful grounds of the Walton Hall estate, deep in the Warwickshire countryside, invites you to step away from your daily life for a few days to take rest in nature and give your body and mind a chance to relax, renew and replenish. During this retreat, you will be staying at Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel and Spa. The hotel is set in 65 acres of stunning countryside, with landscape gardens, and woods and pastures beyond. The hall itself is a grade II listed 16th century building.

All accommodation is en-suite and spacious. There are standard single and double or twin rooms available in the hotel (which comprises a more modern building and conversion of the estate stable blocks). It is also possible to upgrade your room to one of the stunning luxury suites in the original 16th century hall.

There is a swimming pool, gym, and sauna at the hotel for your enjoyment, and a lovely conservatory bar in the hall with views across the grounds for tea, coffees, and other drinks.


During this luxury Ayurveda and Yoga weekend in the beautiful Walton Hall & Hotel, we will retreat for 3 days to detoxify our bodies and to rejuvenate body, mind and spirit with Ayurvedic Yoga practices, special breathing practices and specifically created healing, strengthening, guided meditations.

According to the teachings of Ayurveda, Spring is the ideal time to detoxify the body and cleanse our lymphatic system, our gut and liver of the effects of the richer, heavier diet we tend towards during the winter months. A good cleanse will replenish our organs of elimination, the lymph and disgestive systems to literally put a "spring in our step"! We will feel more expansive, energetic and creative in body, mind and heart as a result of cleansing at this time of year. It is exactly what nature intended for us. The Spring seasonal foods which we will enjoy during the weekend have a clearing and rejuvenating effect on our systems, as does the Ayurveda balancing blends of spices, rice and legumes that we will enjoy.

Encouraging our bodies to move from sugar-burning (for most of us this is where our bodies draw fuel and it can leave our nervous systems in more of a charged state), the weekend will be designed to shift our bodies into fat-burning for it's energy source, which supports weight loss and a calming of the nervous system.

There'll be time to enjoy the hotel spa and it's sauna and pool. And also to take a detoxifying body treatment (not included) in the spa during the weekend. I can book these in advance if you wish to enjoy one or more during your stay.

The weekend is designed to:

  • Cleanse your body and clear your mind.
  • Recharge your energy and restore balance to body and mind as we leave the Winter season behind and transition into Spring.
  • Put into practice Ayurveda and Yoga teachings for keeping the body balanced and energised with taught lifestyle, dietary, and Yoga practices.
  • Give you a new understanding of your health and well-being that will support you long after the weekend is finished.

Morning and evening guided meditations will offer you a rare chance to rest in deep stillness, giving your nervous systems time to pause, and the busy-ness in your minds a chance to subside. This is a time to balance body and mind, and to cleanse and strengthen the body for a healthier year ahead. Each season, according to Ayurveda and Macrobiotics, challenges particular body systems and requires that we adapt our lifestyle, Yoga practices and dietary choices accordingly to maintain balance and strength in body and mind.


The yoga classes will be created according to the teachings of Ayurveda for the Spring season. The Spring Detox weekend will offers practices and diet to strengthen and support the liver and organs of elimination and to stimulate and cleanse the lymphatic system. Our weekend is being planned for these purposes. There will be morning Hatha-Ayurvedic yoga classes with detoxifying postures and breathing practices, and guided stress-relieving deep relaxations. In the afternoon, there will be Restorative Yoga practices also guided by the teachings of Ayurveda for the season, and with specific breathing practices and a healing visualization. These practices should leave your body and mind feeling more harmonized, stronger and energized.


Shama Sara Palmer
Shama learned yoga from her yoga teacher, who taught her the power of the breathing practices of Hatha yoga. She spent a lot of time traveling around the globe to places such as India, Japan, Thailand, Italy, USA, Canada, and the Bahamas, where she learned from and practiced many healing and spiritual traditions, before managing an integrative health clinic in London. She took her teacher training course from Sivananda Ashram yoga retreat in the Bahamas.

The chef in the hotel has worked with Shama to create a special Ayurveda-influenced menu for you during this weekend. The meals will be 95% plant based, with a little dairy, and will be selected for their ease of digestion which should support the cleansing and healing work of your yoga practices, and all foods will be seasonal. The meals will be detoxifying and at the same time rejuvenating for the body systems. There will be healing herbal teas offered during your morning and afternoon breaks. Meals will be taken in our own private dining room in the old Hall building, with views over the hotel gardens. Special dietary requirements can be met, such as gluten-free and dairy-free, but please notify LoveYogaHealing in advance.

Things to do (optional)

In between classes and meal times, you are free to enjoy the peace and quiet of the hotel garden, or to explore the beauty, history, and culture of the surrounding area.

A 10 minute drive away is Compton Verney, a beautiful estate whose house has been architecturally designed recently to be a wonderful museum and art gallery with many interesting exhibitions. Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick are both only approximately a 20 minute drive away. You may like to take time between classes to visit the Shakespeare sites in Stratford-upon-Avon or the historic castle in Warwick.

Also nearby is the pretty market town of Shipston on Stour, with many independent quality shops.

Driving directions from M40 (north)

  • From M40 (north) exit at junction 13
  • Turn left and then the first right. Continue through to Newbold Pacey
  • Turn left at the T-junction in Wellesbourne
  • Turn right after the Watermill and continue down the single lane for 1.5 miles
  • From M40 (south), exit at junction 15. Take the fourth exit onto the A429 to Cirencester
  • Continue through Barford and turn left at the roundabout for Wellesbourne
  • Turn right after the Watermill and continue down the single lane for 1.5 miles

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Birmingham International Airport (BHX). A taxi will be arranged to pick you up from the airport.

Arrival by train

If you choose to travel by train, Warwick Parkway station is about 10 miles away from the retreat venue. A taxi will be arranged to pick you up from Warwick Parkway. From Birmingham International Airport, you can also take a train to to Leamington Spa or Warwick Parkway from where a taxi can be arranged to collect you.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 16.94% of the total price.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 14 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 28 days before arrival.
