Deepen your yoga practice overlooking the Aegean Sea, with daily yoga classes, workshops, and meditations with Loren and Ryann in the birthplace of ancient mythology and philosophy. Classes and workshops are offered for all levels for a deeper understanding of self-realization and empowering exercises to fully embody a Self-Realization & Empowerment Retreat week. In addition to daily yoga classes and workshops, your week on Amorgos will be filled with dips in the sea, historical excursions to ancient Greek sites, optional hikes, wine tasting, and arguably the most beautiful Mediterranean sea sunsets.
Optional excursions include guided hikes through ancient Aegiali villages, a visit to an ancient monument built into the side of the mountain, wine tasting, or a day trip on a tender boat to a private island nearby.
The mission during a Self-Realization & Empowerment Retreat is to offer daily yoga classes, workshops, and ceremonies to deepen your understanding of Self, or spirit, and leave you feeling empowered and connected to your divine purpose.
You will gather in the yoga shala twice a day to practice physical asana with Ryann and Amy. They will offer a variety of styles; Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative, and Yin tailored to all levels. The purpose is to come into union with your physical body, the vessel of your spirit, and move energy freely with breath and movement, all while looking over the majestic, vast, ocean.
The retreat will offer daily workshops and opening and closing ceremonies to deepen your understanding of yogic practices and the study of the Self. It will offer unique group exercises and bonding opportunities to deepen the study together and share your experiences. Every activity is optional yet encouraged. Some of the exercises and activities you do during a Self-Realization & Empowerment Retreat week are so unique, eye-opening, and heart-opening that they leave every guest with a true sense of self-realization and empowerment.
Loren Lotus, director of Lotus Retreats, is a passionate yoga instructor and retreat leader journeying through self-study and self-realization with the intention to heal and transform the mind, body, and spirit of others. Loren received her degree in kinesiology and is a certified (500-hour) Vinyasa and Hatha yoga and (85-hour) prenatal yoga instructor. She is also a passionate yoga instructor continuously inspired by the ancient spiritual traditions and yogic philosophy.
Ryann believes that yoga has the power to positively transform people's lives. She teaches a Hatha inspired class with an emphasis on breath, awareness, and body control. She aims to make each class feel steeped in Indian tradition and lineage. Her path has also led her to Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) as a way to help speed the physical healing or recovery process and flexibility that yoga offers. With yoga and FST, Ryann has a passion to guide people towards a more connected, positive, and healthy life.
You will experience true five-star luxury in one of the most beautiful Greek islands. Located on a slight hill overseeing Aegiali Bay, Aegialis Hotel & Spa offers you a front-row seat at sea views and the majestic mountainous landscape of the island. Please book your flight to arrive at Athens International Airport (ATH). While Amorgos Island does not have an airport but is easily reached with daily ferries and high-speed vessels. Athens International Airport (ATH) is the most convenient to arrive. Lotus Retreats suggests arriving a day or two early to explore Athens, or staying a few days after the retreat to explore other islands!
It is also suggested that visitors arrive one day earlier in Athens or book a flight arriving before 2:00 p.m. so that they are at the port on time - most of the ferries to Amorgos leave at 5:30 p.m. There is one daily connection to Amorgos Island (except on Saturday during winter) from Piraeus Port, Athens. Ferries dock alternately at the two ports of Amorgos Island: Katapola and Aegiali (closest to the hotel).
A Facebook group will be created and a Google document will be shared for all attending guests to arrange transportation to the resort prior to the retreat start. Everyone is recommended to connect with others to share boat taxis from the Athens airport to the resort.
