A wonderful place to stay. Perfect location in a no time place. Locanda la Gelsomina is gorgeous, clean, cozy, and the staff is amazing! I'll come back for sure. Both for business or pleasure, I recommend Locanda la Gelsomina.

Charming, lovely, relaxing, excellent stay. Recommended. Located in the heart of Il Birgu peninsula, it is a really cozy and beautiful boutique hotel. Very peaceful, the decoration is really nice, makes you feel really comfortable. There are many restaurants and bars around so you can walk around and visit the fortress Saint Anglu (main attraction in this area), the maritime museum, and Saint Lawrence church. 10 minutes far from airport by car or there's also a decent port very close if you get there by boat or yatch. The ideal would be to rent a car or motorbike to wander around and visit also the nice beaches in the island. I really recommend this place.

Nice choice for Malta trip. I found this place extremely relaxing, its really quiet and the place is beautifully designed. Best place to stay if you also want to visit Valletta and the owner showed passion with their place. I hope to be back.

Peaceful, individual boutique. I found out about this place when I stopped a lady in the street to ask if she knew of any cafes nearby where I could get a breakfast and she invited me to her place, which turned out to be La Gelsomina! I agree with the previous review the interior is very special and a lot of thought has gone into the architecture, dcor, and furnishings. The ground floor looks up through the atrium, so it's light, airy, and cool in summer. The style is a fusion of Fareast meets Italian. The rooms and en suites are high spec, beautiful, and spacious with good lighting, mirrors, wardrobes etc. There's a rooftop terrace, not overlooked, and she told me they're thinking about evening yoga at sundown. The owners are keen to have guests who respect the peaceful environment that they've created. The surrounding streets are well kept and peaceful, the family can guide you to restaurants nearby, or walk 10 minutes to take the regular ferry to Valletta (10-15 minutes) or Sliema. The family have lived all over and I got the impression they're used to different cultures.
Enchanting. Deciding on a quick weekend getaway in Malta, I went about researching into unique stays close to the city center, but far from the masses and tourist traps of Sliema and Saint Julians, which brought me to stay the weekend in one of the infamous Three Cities, that of Birgu. Those who are looking for a bit of peace and quiet, and want to experience a bit of ancient Malta should have a look into the three cities. The B&B itself was excellent, part of an ancient building, the owners took painstaking time to redo and refurbish an antique building and add a bit of their own personality into it! Spotless clean, service was excellent; they even booked a taxi for me from the airport. Breakfast was just right; I personally loved the muffins in the morning, and the helpful owners giving good advice into the city of Birgu. They only have four rooms but the one I was renting out, so called "Camera Nobile", was just a gem of a room; with a blend of antique and modern furnishings it definitely felt spectacular to look at. If you want something different, especially a bit of tranquility in these high summer seasons, look no further! Thanks again to the staff for my stay.
