Join Lisa Valentine and Nina in this yoga and hiking retreat in the French Alps. Having lived and taught in this beautiful part of the world for the last eight years, Lisa has a deep passion to share her love of the mountains and yoga. With the combination of yoga to help support the activity of your choice, luxurious accommodation to relax in, sunshine to fill your days, you will feel life just couldn’t get any better.
During the retreat, you will be accommodated at La Chaumiere, a luxurious mountain chalet with breathtaking views in a peaceful location in Chatel. There are all the comforts you will need to relax with the comfiest of beds, crisp linen sheets, huge soft sofas, log fires, and above all, a welcoming atmosphere.
Begin your day the yogi way with a morning yoga class to warm you up ready for the day ahead. Then there’s a delicious healthy brunch, followed by your own time to do whichever activity you desire, from hiking or biking across snow-peaked mountains, wild swimming in glacial lakes or in an outdoor pool with views to astound you, or white water rafting.
If you just prefer to relax, the chalet has a sauna, an outdoor spa and a lovely terrace with mountain views, there is also a fabulous spa in the village center with thermal waters and spa treatments. Early evening you will wind down with another yoga and meditation class, followed by a fabulous home-cooked food.
After dinner, chill out in the hot tub underneath the stars then snuggle down for a well deserved and blissful sleep. The morning sessions are a more dynamic practice to help you stretch, lengthen and warm the body in preparation for a day of adventure. Special focus is on the legs in order to build stamina for those hill-walks or other activities.
The evening class is gentle Yin yoga to stretch out and relax sore muscles and joints. The session will vary and included are pranayama and meditation to help you to really let go and enter a state of deep relaxation. The classes are suitable for all abilities, everyone is welcome. Lisa practiced at adapting the class for everyone’s level.
The asanas and meditation will help increase oxygen flow, balance, clarity and promote a peaceful mind. Nina, the lovely second yoga teacher on the retreat, will be offering an alternative class if you prefer a slower-paced class and co-teaching with Lisa in the evening classes. Total body workout to stretch, tone and elongate the muscles. Working with the core, increasing balance and improving stamina.
The retreat package includes a short easy hike and picnic to replace brunch (weather permitted) is also included in the price.
A Yogi for 20 + years, I discovered yoga on my travels around the world in my early 20's. I chose to travel alone as at times I preferred my own company, quietly contemplating life and escaping from Trauma, I found so much healing in Yoga and Meditation. On my return I became a regular student at some well known studio's in London where my passion for yoga grew. It wasn't until much later though in 2009 just before I started a family, I decided to take my journey further and qualified in Vinyasa flow 200hr TT in Ibiza with Still flowing yoga teacher training.
Nina is a yoga teacher who is also Pilates trained. She will be offering an alternative class if you prefer a slower paced session, and will also be co-teaching on the evening classes. Nina offers a total body workout to stretch, tone and elongate the muscles while working with the core, increasing balance, and improving stamina.
Chatel is a beautiful village nestled within the valleys of the Porte du Soleil area in the French Alps. It's a picturesque and traditional resort, sporting panoramic views of the infamous Mont Blanc and the Dent du midi. It is located in the region of Haute Savoie, and on the French border with Switzerland.
Ideally placed right in the middle of the Portes du Soleil, Chatel is the gateway to a marvelous summer playground. You will never forget the miles of open spaces surrounding the meadows, from where you can head off into the middle of nowhere.
Enjoy delicious, healthy homemade food which is an integral part of your yoga retreat. You will need to feel looked after and nourished with all the exercise and mountain air! The food is fresh, local, and seasonal. Included in the retreat package is delicious brunch with granola, eggs, juices and fruit, and a gourmet buffet style evening feast with organic and carefully chosen French wines. The food on the retreat is as important as the yoga. Teas, coffee, cake, and fruit bowl are also available throughout your stay.
Extra optional excursions can be arranged at an extra cost. Whether you love the thrill of downhill mountain-biking, or enjoy a spot of alpine road biking, or prefer hiking over mountain passes, or maybe even paragliding or white water rafting, there is something for everyone to do during the free time.
You can also relax in the chalet, enjoying the outdoor Jacuzzi, sauna, and pretty alpine patio with stunning views. Or you can visit the local spa for many treatments or a swim. There will be a second teacher to offer a fusion of Pilates and yoga and to ensure you get the most from your yoga holiday.
In house sports or Swedish massage is also available at extra cost.
Please book your flight to arrive at Geneva Airport (GVA). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Lisa Valentine Yoga will pick you up from the airport. Please note that arrival and departure times are within a two-hour frame.
