Retreat location

This retreat will take place in the North Aegean area which is full of beautiful harbors and bays to anchor for a swim. Among others, the Cyclades islands are famous for their characteristic minimal architecture, picturesque villages, idyllic beaches, and breathtaking landscapes. It is a great opportunity to discover the unique natural beauties and islands of the Cyclades during the off-season.

Your sailing root includes islands of Mykonos, Syros, Kythnos, Kea, Cape Sounio (Poseidon temple), Aegina, and Athens (Alimos). Boarding will take place in Mykonos island. You will explore some not mainstream destinations of the island, visiting secluded beaches and enjoying nature beauties far from the crowd, but you will have a chance to visit some popular touristic places as well.

The island of Syros is a special place and it has an elegant and nostalgic vibe that enchants every visitor. The town of Ermoupolis is considered one of the most picturesque Cyclades capitals, a living museum with some of the most beautiful 19th-century buildings in Greece. Venetian mansions, spectacular sunset views, narrow alleys, neoclassical buildings, and impressive catholic and orthodox churches ooze a fairytale charm.

Kythnos is a beautiful mountainous island and one of the few unexplored paradises with all its treasures: the selection of stunning beaches, the beautiful landscapes, the golden sunsets, the scented gardens, the churches, the traditional houses with the red roofs, the picturesque streets, the lonely windmills, the ancient history, the archaeological sites, the thermal springs, joyful, and hospitable people.

Kea island, which is also known as Tzia, has a different landscape and different architecture than its Cycladic counterparts. Kea does not have the little whitewashed houses and blue-domed churches of its neighbors, but it is characterized by earthy tones and elegant architecture. Kea is a verdant island with many cultivations and forests, while it boasts a wonderful landscape.

It has exceptional beaches, many archaeological sites, one of the most amazing traditional villages in Greece, and a network of ancient footpaths and roads and anyone who loves walking will appreciate the beauty of Kea, especially in the spring when the winter rains have turned the hills green and the wildflowers are everywhere.

Cape Sounio

Temple of Poseidon is in Sounio. A visit to Cape Sounion is more than just an excursion. It is an ethereal journey to a place of myths and legends. This is where Aegeus, king of Athens, jumped to his death off the cliff, mistakenly thinking that he had lost Theseus, his only son, to the Minotaur in the labyrinth. Thus giving his name to the Aegean Sea.

One of the most impressive monuments of the Classical Age, the sacred temple of Poseidon, perched on cliffs above Cape Sounio and surrounded on three sides by the sea, it has stunning views out over the Aegean. The temple was built shortly after the mid-fifth century B.C., that is, in the same period as the major works on the Athenian Acropolis. Watching the sunset envelop the temple’s centuries-old columns in mauve and pink shades is an unforgettable experience that will definitely weave a powerful spell over you.

Aegina is an idyllic island with pine-clad hills, small fertile valleys, and a vibrant coastline. Belonging to the Saronic group of islands, Aegina has many archaeological monuments, picturesque villages, and beautiful beaches. The center of the island is Aegina town, the picturesque capital of Aegina with elegant Neoclassical buildings, narrow alleys, and a bustling seafront promenade.

Aegina is also an island with a glorious historical past as it used to be one of the most important islands of ancient Greece. The most impressive archaeological site of the island is the Ancient Temple of Athena Aphaia, dating back to the 6th century B.C. A volcanic island with plains of respectable fertility to the northern and southern parts, Aegina is also where the famous pistachio nuts can be found alongside the other main produce of the island, grain, vines, almonds, and olives. On the last day, you will arrive at the port of Alimos (Athens).
