Villa Sumaya is an eco-chic wellness center. They are dedicated to rejuvenating holistic practices and healing modalities as well as preserving Mayan traditions and facilitating outdoor adventure in the heart of Altiplano. Majestically located on the shores of Lake Atitlan, they offer custom-designed all-inclusive services to personal, group and family retreats. You will have the choice of staying at Lotus House or Ginger Suite rooms with classes in the majestic Tara Temple. One, two and three-bedroom accommodations are available.
Lotus House hosts six rooms with two rooms on each of the three floors, all gracefully appointed rooms with private baths and stone showers that offer stunning lake view balconies or glorious garden patios. Tara Temple is on the top floor. Lotus House is easily accessible to all of Villa Sumaya’s amenities.
This newest complex offers luxury accommodations varying in size. It includes rooms 8, 17, 18, 19 and 21. All the rooms have majestic lake view balconies and elegant antique furnishings. Ginger Suite has appointed-seating areas. Room 17 has a fireplace for chilly nights, as well as a handmade hammock on the patio. The junior suites are rooms 8 and 18. Room 8 has a snug bedroom with a queen bed and a separate single bed in the sitting area, as well as a spacious wooden deck and handmade hammock.
Room 18 features a built-in window seat and a lake view desk to inspire your creative sensibilities. Studio 21 is the crown jewel of the suite’s collection with luxuriously-appointed furnishings including a queen-sized bed and two twins, a fireplace, kitchenette, love seat and amazing 180-degree panoramic view of the lake. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, book a room in the Ginger Suite.
Experience vegetarian meals sourced from local gardens and daily yoga offerings including sunrise flows, a full moon ceremony and workshops focused on creating your vision and rocking your true voice. At will, you have the freedom to venture off and explore as you like. Together, you’ll take a boat to visit historical sites and shops in Santiago, take a hike to the top of Volcan San Pedro, and kayak Lake Atitlan with the option for a cliff jump at the end. Yoga Alliance RYT 200 (Ashtanga Yoga)
Clarissa is a 200-hour RYT working toward her 500 (completion estimation is May 2017) and has been teaching at local studios in Quad Cities region of Illinois / Iowa since 2014. She maintains a dedicated Ashtanga practice which has fueled her desire to learn more and in December 2015 she spent a month in Mysore, India studying at the K. P. J. Ashtanga Yoga Institute with Sharath Jois. Clarissa is ready to share what she has learned with her students. Clarissa teaches regular classes at studios and online and hopes to instill confidence, power, and grace into her classes and students.
In Fall 2013, Erin began a 30-day intensive 200-hour yoga teacher training at Anamaya Retreat Center in Montezuma, Costa Rica. Under the instruction of Paula Tursi of Reflections Yoga and Peter Kaaberbol Kristensen of LagoCPH, she learned the key principles of yoga and teaching, receiving her 200-RYT certification alongside 30 other beautiful souls. Erin has actively taught in several cities throughout her tenure and currently teaching in Austin, Texas. Since 2013, she has taught over 1000 hours of yoga in group as well as individual settings with students ranging from 1 to 90.
This yoga retreat will take place at Villa Sumaya, Santa Cruz La Laguna, Guatemala.
Vegetarian locally sourced breakfast, lunch and dinner meals are included. Meat can be added for 7 USD per meal.
Please book your flight to arrive at La Aurora International Airport (GUA). Transfer from and to the airport is not included.
Once you send Light the Spark Within your arrival information, they will set up a way to get you to and from the location.
