Expert tip: This is one of the most popular yoga retreats offered in the USA.
Immerse yourself in nature's brilliance as you nourish mind, body, and soul on a "Lifepath" yoga, Ayurveda, and hiking retreat. Join for a retreat in the heart of the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania at the Himalayan Institute Retreat Center.
Accommodations are simple and clean, designed for you to feel comfortable and relaxed. The minimalist design creates a sense of peace, allowing you to let go of the busyness of your daily life. Here, your mind can be free from distractions as you enjoy the beautiful and peaceful surroundings that the Retreat Center has to offer.
Following check-in, an optional yoga class, and a delicious dinner prepared in the Ayurvedic kitchen, you will begin Lifepath Retreat with Friday Evening Restorative Asana (Yoga) Practice, Pranayama (calming breath practice) followed by Yoga Nidra (powerful relaxation practice with guided meditation), allowing you to unwind as you settle into the essence of being on Retreat.
During the weekend, you will engage in lectures and discussions about the transformational life science of Ayurveda-(Yoga lifestyle & nutrition practices based on the 5-elements of nature). You have the opportunity to fill out a "Dosha" questionnaire which will assist you in determining your Ayurvedic Constitution based on a unique composition of nature's elements.
You will learn about the fundamentals of Ayurveda (the 5 elements and 3 dosha's), characteristics of each dosha (Constitution type), health conditions that may arise from an imbalance in your Ayurvedic Constitution, and how to bring balance to your Ayurvedic Constitution through nutritional and lifestyle practices to promote optimal health, vitality, and emotional well-being.
There will be discussions on The Ayurveda Clock-aligning with the cycles of nature through an Ayurvedic perspective-looking at the 24 hour day; the seasons of the year; the seasons of life.
Each day you will experience guided Yoga practices specifically designed to balance Vata (grounding practices to balance the transformational nature of Autumn). You will take part in mindful hikes on the Retreat Center's groomed forested trails incorporating Qigong (energy practices), Asana (Yoga), and Meditation along the path.
You are welcome to stay for lunch and explore the beautiful grounds of the Retreat Center on Sunday afternoon.
