Driving directions from Cancun International Airport (CUN)

From the airport follow the main highway south towards Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Stay on this highway until you reach Tulum pueblo, about 45 minutes past Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, and Akumal.

Once you reach Tulum (after passing a police stop and the turn-off to the Tulum ruins) you turn left at the first traffic light where the 7/11 is. This turn-off is before entering the main town. It leads you towards Boca Paila and Punta Allen.

When you get to the end, the road splits. Ahau Tulum and Alaya Tulum are to the right of this split. Drive through the little beach town, past another guard entrance, and continue along until you pass hotels Los Lirios, Shambala, and Uno.

Ahau Tulum is next on your left. Continue along past Sanara and La Zebra. Alaya Tulum is next on your left.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Cancun International Airport (CUN). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request.

Arrival by bus

More adventurous souls can take the local bus from the airport or town of Cancun. Upon leaving the airport terminal, look for the ADO booth where you can purchase your ticket to Playa del Carmen. The buses usually leave every hour, and the attendants speak very little English, so brush up on your espaƱol! One-way tickets are 15 to18 USD.

The bus will take you to the terminal in Playa del Carmen. Get off in Playa and then buy another ticket to Tulum and change buses. This will take you to the town of Tulum. Make sure not to go to the ruins! Go to el centro. From there, take a taxi to the hotel. Taxi prices from town to different hotels along the beach road vary. Negotiate the fee with the taxi driver before you get in the taxi.

For information about the booking conditions, please send Life Source Retreats an inquiry.

"I was worried the retreat would be too "yogi" for me but I was pleasantly surprised at how much my family and I gained from this experience. It's hard to put into words the how much this retreat has positively affected my life. We had some days that were very scheduled with meals, classes and activities and other days, we had more time to explore. The community style dining is so fun and a unique way to get to know people. The other guests we met felt like family and lifelong friends. I would highly recommend this retreat for anyone looking to heal their soul, connect with a spouse or family, or have a unique experience with friends. I can't wait to go back!"

"My last minute plans to attend needed special attention and LSR gave me all that and more. Every single workshop (2 per day on average) was amazing and each one would step my emotional and spiritual being up a notch. Jina, Michelle, David are amazing. Excursions were fun, friendly, and Lisette did an incredible job on the personalized itinerary and making everyone feel right at home whatever the event. Their masseuse was the best ever. Hotel staff was so courteous. Hotel was clean and awesome in every way. As a perfectionist, there is always room for improvement, and in that area I would say quantity (not quality) of food. Food was nutritious and delicious, but if you're a big eater, you may need to ask for seconds. I cannot wait to go back again and would recommend this 110% to anyone and everyone. It really helped me in my life and I am so thankful and appreciative. "

"Tulum is a magical place all on its own, but discovering this place with Life Source Retreats is life changing! Being in Tulum is like nothing you can experience anywhere else, and going to a life source retreat makes it all the more unique and special! My best friend and I went together and we can't wait until we return! Our favorite part of the retreat was swimming in the cenotes and the incorporation of tulum's history. We visited Mayan ruins and had a Mayan clay ceremony! Very fun, relaxing and eye opening! I recommend to anyone and everyone!"

"My experience retreating with LifeSource literally changed my life. It blew my expectations out of the water. I simply thought I was going to yoga retreat, but it was so much more than that. I was able to open up spiritual channels with their workshops, Mayan clay ceremony, Temazcal (sweat lodge). We had amazing guided excursions to Cenotes and to the scared Mayan Ruins. The staff was amazing. The hotel is stunning and your steps away from your room to the white sand beaches."

"I found Life Source Retreats by google on a cold November day in New York, and wasn't sure whether I should sign up. It was my first retreat, and my first time traveling alone for more than a few days. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The people who work for Life Source are incredible-- professional and accommodating in all the ways one could want, but also extraordinarily warm and caring. Before I signed up for my retreat, I thought reviews that described them as "life-changing" must be exaggerations, but this literally was life-changing for me."

"What a magical journey we went on, Spiritual cleansing, life coaching, healthy living, sound healing, friends bonding, i couldn't have asked for more. A friend of mine told me she was going on the retreat and after some research, I knew i had to be there too - by far one of the best decisions i ever made. A special thanks to Michele from LSR for helping me visualize the retreat which eventually lead me to book it and to Kim who helped with all the logistics. Each day started at around 6:45 a.m. with a sun greeting ceremony with our very own Shaman- Carlos. This was followed by an hour and a half of yoga with Eli who was wonderful... then a scrumptious breakfast by either Roberto or Raw love. The rest of the day was a combination of workshops with either Michele, Laura, or David, Lunch by Roberto or Chocolate tree, free time for self reflection and to enjoy the beach, A cultural activity with either Carlos, Jen, Cat or Kate and finally, an awesome dinner by Roberto's or Raw Love. By 9:30 p.m. we would have had a full day of activities and were more than ready to call it a night. I had some of the best sleep i've ever had at this retreat.. their beds are extremely comfortable. All in all, LSR exceeded my expectations in every aspect. The memories, the workshops and the tools they provide you with, the experiences we shared and the bonds we made with our team-mates, the staff and management, are all things i will cherish and carry with me always. I definitely recommend this retreat to anybody looking to get a fresh start. Its transformative and magical. I'm already looking forward to my next retreat with LSR."

"The staff at Life Source Retreats are amazing. They will go out of their way to make sure you are happy, comfortable and looked after. Cat helped me book a private taxi to Sac Actun cenote, negotiate on the price and ensured that he showed up on time. When I realized I lost my phone after the excursion, Sara at the front desk helped speak Spanish with the woman who found my phone and Cat texted the driver to look for my phone. I really appreciated how helpful and patient everyone was during my moment of panic, and during the entire week."

"I just returned from a 5-day retreat that totally exceeded all my expectations. From the first day I was welcomed with nothing but love, kindness, generosity, and plenty of tlc from the retreat organizers and hotel staff alike. Every day began with a sunrise ceremony with Carlos, a shaman in the Azteca tradition (side note: how many retreats have a shaman on staff?), followed by yoga and a superfood breakfast bowl catered by Raw Love. Afterward, our days were spent in workshops with life coaches, followed by some free time to enjoy the gorgeous, picture-perfect beach. Other activities, of which there were many and all optional, included a trip to a cenote, a Mayan clay treatment, a sweat lodge ceremony, an evening lounge with visiting musicians, sound healing, and much much more. I did it all, and each activity was a reward in itself. Furthermore, I formed deep bonds with my retreat mates, and that’s a priceless benefit I didn’t expect. The accommodations at Alaya are luxurious yet rustic, like posh cabañas as designed by Robinson Crusoe. Ultra-comfortable beds, plenty of downy pillows, and the pleasant sounds of the Caribbean outside our veranda was just what I needed to relax and decompress. The rooms were tastefully decorated, clean, and filled with lots of natural light. Like everyone else who’s reviewed LSR before me, it was a magical, transformative experience that I will treasure always. I came as a stranger; I left as a member of the Life Source family. Thank you all for making my intentions a reality. I cannot wait to return."

"I just returned from the Journey to the Heart - Finding Inner Peace retreat, and I am happy to say that I found inner peace! In addition, I remember who I am, and why I'm here. How great is that?! It was a week filled with so much love, learning, fun, and laughter. This was topped off by a stay in a beautiful cabana on a beach with indescribable sunrises, and delicious healthy food. Erin, Cat and Michele from Life Source Retreats were such an integral part of this amazing journey, which I feel so grateful to have experienced. If you're hesitant about booking this retreat, my advice is to go for it, you will not be disappointed! I'm looking forward to the next one. Thank you Life Source Retreats!"

From top to bottom I can't say enough good things about the knowledge, love, food, experience and most of all my new life tools . If you are looking for something or some place to uplift you, give you purpose, or to be reminded of who you are. This is the place for you. I can't wait to go back!"

"Spent an amazing week with wonderful people, beautiful beach view and learning about my "Journey to the Heart". I had never done any sort of spiritual retreat and was not sure what to expect but my expectations were blown out of the water! Each morning we watched the sun come up, spoke and felt gratitude before spending the days in workshops, yoga and excursions. Our instructor, Erin, was not only a brilliant teacher who knew her stuff, she truly leads by example. Some of the highlights included chanting as a group, sweat lodge, Mayan blessings, swimming in caves and having a reading by Dr. Peebles. "

"My room was very clean with daily service. The view looked like a postcard. The staff was excellent. The food delicious! I was lucky to see baby sea turtles hatch and make their way to the sea as well as glowing plankton lighting up the sea at night. Truly a magical experience that I would recommend. "

"Wonderful, warm people, amazing accommodation by the beach and certainly a yoga retreat with a difference!...the yoga teachers were fantastic and the yoga space at LSR was truly a peaceful, spiritual haven looking out to the ocean. The food was very healthy and the experience was enriched by the Sound healing, Mayan temazcal and Clay ceremony experience!"

"Looking at the agenda for the LifeSourceRetreats Power Light program was really exciting, I thought it would be a really fun week with some great people, doing yoga, exercise, meditation, eating healthy food, etc. What I didn't realise was how much of a spiritual journey it would turn out to be, and how many great friends I would make. I went solo (as did many others) however it would also be great for friends and couples. The variety of experiences and activities were fantastic: a Mayan Mud Ceremony, Temazcal, Sound Healing Journey, spa therapies, energy healings. "Where's my Shamen"? became the motto of the week!"

"Each day started with greeting the sun, followed by a vinyasa yoga class, taught by excellent instructors."

"The rooms are beautiful, the food was great and the leaders of the retreat were fantastic. Everyone who joined the week wanted not only to return but also to send their loved ones to enjoy this experience. True wellness in Tulum!"

" What an incredible week. I attended the Journey to the Heart Retreat lead by Erin Toppenberg and it was just magical. Lovely. Heartfelt. Calming. Healing. She is an incredible soul and gives so much love. She makes you feel right at home. The retreat schedule was amazing. I felt like I got every little piece of Tulum I could have hoped for: Mayan clay, Cenotes, yoga, meditation, group activites, alone time...The beach is unbelievably clear. It's just like the pictures! The hotel was VERY nice and everyone on staff was cheery and kind every single day. You "greet the sun" each morning and it changes your day. It is incredible to sit at the calm beach with the ocean sounds and watch the sun rise. I truly feel like Tulum made me come alive. You can't help but be inspired and feel so full in Tulum. The workshops were awesome.I learned so much and I feel like went home with more tools to live the life I want. Thank you thank you thank you! Such a wonderful experience and I cannot wait to go back. "

" The location is magical, the land and waters are sacred and you can truly feel that. The ocean lulls you to sleep and greets you awake each morning. I honestly never got better sleep in my life than when I was resting in Tulum. All of the food was fresh and delicious, every single meal. The coffee is perfect if you want it and all the care taken to serve you lovingly created meals is a treat in itself! Everyone is so friendly and genuine. The variety of excursions available makes it easy to keep busy and customize your retreat experience.I tried paddle boarding, went swimming in the cenote a few times, and always loved greeting the sun in the morning. The most valuable part of the entire experience was getting to connect with so many people on such a personable level. I could choose to participate or relax as much as I wanted, but I found myself choosing to be with the group because that is where I found the most personal growth happening, through my interactions with others. The format of the retreat is pretty much vacation or summer camp in paradise for adults. You get to chill, grow, nurture yourself, and experience the gorgeous nature in the beautiful Riviera Maya. Sleeping right on the beach, and just a short ride down the road, the protected and gorgeous Sian Ka'an National Ecological Reserve is absolutely breath taking. If I had the opportunity to be there every day, I would be! The setting is pure paradise and you can't help but feel sad to leave when you do!! "

" Yes, it's unbelievable how beautiful the area is. Yes, the hotel was spectacular in EVERY way. Staff, food, AC , WiFi, rooms, area, just so far beyond expectations. Long story short, After a very traumatic life event, I was having a very hard time physically, spiritually, and finding the meaning of such suffering. This retreat was the life preserver I reached out and grabbed. The way it appeared as an option and actually being about to afford it, miraculous.I had short flight restrictions for any travel as well. I don't how they provided so much, rooms, food, full retreat availability, excursions, transportation out of cancun (sorry but thank goodness- I don't care for tourist overload, crowding, or its fast energy). I always wanted to go to paradise that not many knew about (since I'm not into overcrowding) -found it!! And while I'd love to keep it a secret I feel like I have to pass this on for the karma alone. My husband and kids didn't want to do parts of the retreat which was absolutely fine. I wanted more, and got it. They accommodated my limitations but helped me expand mentally, spiritually, and physically. I'm trying to go back next month to further my journey and continue to heal. Not only did life source retreats help revive me but my family, not only LOVED the package but are so grateful to have their mom back even better and stronger then before the trauma. Thank you Michele and everyone else there, you're a daily inspiration. Can't wait to see you all again and you can see how far I've come. "

" The yoga was very helpful and centering - I felt myself stressed when I got there but as the days passed I became more centered and balanced. The classes were excellent - I was a little nervous about being in classes and concerned I would feel overwhelmed - it was not the case. The rooms were beautiful - right on the beach. The meals were excellent as well. I highly recommend - it was awesome! "

" I just wanted to find a place to relax & unplug - so the spiritual experience I had (& the weight I lost!) were added surprise bonuses at Life Source Retreats! I had been to Tulum before, but I've never experienced anything like this. Every single thing was taken care of for me. I just had to fly to Cancun. They arranged for a car to pick me up and take me to Alaya, where a lovely hostess greeted me & took me to my STUNNING room!I'm so glad I splurged on the oceanfront suite. I could almost touch the water from my bed. The views, architecture, design, bedding, bathroom, even the Wifi and AC all were ideal. The retreat itself included customized gourmet food (I'm still shocked I lost lbs eating so well). I did almost all of the yoga classes, and I didn't even like yoga before this. The sharing circles were so cool to connect us all. I have new friends for life. The workshops changed the way I view the world. The excursions were perfect (Cenote was my favorite & Mayan Clay too). The owners (David & Michelle) both participated so much in the whole experience, I was surprised and grateful. Their story is very cool & inspirational. The whole staff really wanted to be there, seemed to love their jobs and genuinely cared about every one of us. I'm excited to go again and as often as I can to the different types. I still can't believe how much was included in the price. I did the math and it would've cost me more to add all of these things up individually than I paid. I came home with a nice tan, relaxed, toned, happy, and so grateful for life. The only thing I didn't like was having to leave! "

" I participated in Life Source Retreats 'Live Life On Purpose'. This is the first trip I have ever taken by myself. I was feeling at a crossroads in my life and wanted to just get away (without roughing it) and also feed my soul. First, Alaya Tulum is one of the most magical places I have ever been to. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The way the hotel is setup is just amazing. Trust me, I am a critic when it comes to hotels & I give Alaya 5 stars.Second, The retreat was life changing for me. Yoga every morning, Classes during the day, Mayan rituals throughout. I feel that a part of me was changed forever & I will never look back. I am able to take the tools I've learned from 'Live Life On Purpose' & create the Life of My Dreams. Thank you Life Source retreats. Hoping to come back soon. "

" I actually created my Trip Advisor account just so I could say how wonderful this retreat was. I went in June and am already looking forward to my return trip! I've taken back so many of the tools I learned into my daily life... The staff really care about every single person there. The owners even participated in so much of the retreat! I got strong physically, emotionally, and changed. My room was beautiful!I had never been to Tulum, so didn't know what to expect really, and I couldn't believe how luxurious and authentic it was. The hotel service was flawless. The meals were delicious. I could have just stayed in that little slice of heaven forever. I recommend Life Source Retreats for anyone who wants to unplug, relax, lose weight (emotional and physical) and have a spiritually rewarding experience in paradise. "

"I'm still feeling the after affects of the week I spent in Tulum for this retreat.. As a single, working mother of two, I was looking for something to treat myself to that would leave me feeling relaxed, pampered, strong and light. I needed a vacation, but one with a purpose and intention. I joined the "Be Light" retreat in April and I couldn't have found anything more perfect for me. I expected to lose weight and get my fitness on- which I definitely did- but to my surprise, I actually did have a life changing experience.I had fun. I laughed, I cried. I challenged myself. I opened up, and I let go. I left with new knowledge about nutrition and what foods to put into my body, and I walked away with new found friendships that I had formed with people who were complete strangers on day one. I gained new tools and coping mechanisms that I learned in the workshops during the retreat- but life tools that I have found myself using in my daily life now that I am home. This retreat met my needs and exceeded my expectations. Thank you Tulum, thank you Alaya, and most importantly, Thank you Life Source Retreats for reawakening me to my true self, helping me heal and for reigniting the fire inside of me. I will be saving up to attend another as soon as I can! "

" I participated in the Journey to the Heart retreat... and it certainly was a journey to the heart. This retreat was an incredibly well balanced experience from the morning yoga, excellent meals, group activities, sessions about the science of the heart, local excursions, sharing circles, and afternoon quiet time.Erin, the instructor was pure love and kindness while she shared her enlightening information on the science of the heart, known as 'Heart Math' and her glorious heart-centered yoga classes. I learned the value and intelligence of the physical heart, heart rate and how to calm oneself more deeply. I was opened to a whole new level of regulating my being, through practices with breathing, the mind and heart. The 5 days floated by with every moment moving seamlessly into the next. One can tell the organizers put their heart into their retreats and I could only highly recommend devoting your vacay time to a retreat here. "

" Tulum on its own is one of those special places that must be visited at least once in a lifetime in order to experience something that words may be too limited to properly describe. In attempt, a high vibrational place with mystical healing energy in the air is one way of looking at it an indulgent sensorial delight is another.Alaya Tulum, in perfect compliment, manages to capture this essence in everything it has to offer starting from the naturally elegant architecture and ethereal design down to the exquisite comfort and warmth of its staff who feel like family right from arrival. Making this space, an ideal nest for a transformational retreat as every detail seems perfectly aligned with intention to channel in the surrounding sanctity. For my second time on this beautiful turquoise strip I got a chance to participate in this Life Source Retreat following a friends recommendation. Every morning would start with a sunrise greeting ritual that, like all activities, you had the freedom to join in or opt out. Admittedly, the comfort of the bed and the laid back Tulum vibe can occasionally keep you snoozing until yoga time or even breakfast. The yoga classes had a fantastic energy about them so I managed almost every single one despite the aforementioned temptation. The program was well designed to explore different types and bring up a number of teachings to carry on through the day and take back home as little memories. The mind detox workshops that made up the bulk of the experience had a real meaningful impact on myself and the rest of the participants as true bonding and human sharing were taking place daily, allowing tears, laugher and what I would call organic group therapy to be the only constant. The rest of the time was occupied with trips and experiences giving a good taste of what Tulum has to offerfrom simple ocean and white sandy beach enjoyment to sweet water cenote trips, mayan clay treatments, traditional sweat lodges/healing rituals, movie nights, drum circles, star gazing and more. Body detox was particularly memorable and joyful for me as not only I got to eat some of the most nutritiously delicious breakfast, lunch and dinners while slimming down in the process but I also got to go home educated on how to bring those elements back into my own kitchen. All in all encouraging me to keep this Life Source Lifestyle well past the check out point. In conclusion, Im grateful I took the chance "

" I don't even know where to begin. The beginning is usually the best. I have taken more retreats and art of living classes than I know what to do with. I finally found my home with Life Source retreats. I was greeted with such kindness and acceptance for who I am straight away. My room was amazing With a 180 degree view through beautifully and locally crafted accordion doors that invite the outside in.Each room provides thoughtful bug spray and Aloe vera for those to much sun time days. Super thoughtful and considerate. The retreat took place mostly at the beautiful Alaya hotel. This is no ordinary hotel where you are there and have no idea who is running the show. All the owners and staff great you with respect and an open heart.I participated in the "Be Light" Mind/body detox retreat offered by "Life Source Retreats". That barley describes what I received through participating in this workshop. Every day starts with greeting the Sun on the soft and sentual Tulum coastline. There and then we set our intentions for the day. Each day consists of 3 gourmet (but light) meals that suit your detox needs while tantalizing your tastebuds. you also receive information on what you are eating and what it does for your body. I now know why Its essential to eat fermented food... WOW! Each day (after we greet the sun) starts with an amazing Yoga class that is not overwhelming if you never had the opportunity to take a yoga class.Remember you never feel bad after a Yoga class. HA! Every day with Life source retreats is full of different fun adventures. We swam in ancient fresh water Cenotes, participated in ceremonies like a Temezcal Sweat Lodge (changed my game) and Myan Clay rituals. The retreat also offers star light walks, Jam nights, group swims, movie nights and a strong boding between your new found friends. The meat of the retreat comes in the form of a daily 2 hour workshops by different masters in the art of owning there life and sharing vital information that's inspiring and guides you on your own personal path to transformation. There is still time for yourself while at the retreat. Time to reflect on your life, on being present and on what you learned that day. Amazing! By the end of the week you leave feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and light. I left leaving the person I know I can be. The person I know that I am.I suggest Life source retreats to anyone who cares for their own personal growth in the art of being happy. Thank you Life Source Retreats as well as Alaya hotel, Ahau hotel and Mother Tulum "
