During the retreat, you will stay at Kichanga Lodge, Michamvi Pingwe, Zanzibar. It is one of Zanzibar’s best-kept secrets and sits among the swaying palms in beautiful Michamvi along the southeastern coastline of the island. Nestled within a stunning hillside by the sea, the tranquil lodge with bungalows overlooking the beach and the Indian Ocean will be a conducive atmosphere to support you during your yoga and meditation practice.

Ocean view bungalows

During the retreat, you will stay in this shared bungalow accommodation with a breathtaking view of the turquoise sea. Each bungalow with a view of the ocean has a veranda on which you can gaze over the open ocean and experience the allure of an evening sunset. The Ocean view bungalows are perfect for couples and those interested in serene privacy with a view. Each bungalow includes amenities such as sizeable beds, mosquito nets, and ceiling fans.

Lekker means delicious, good, nice, and all good. Lekker yoga is about being playful, having delicious moments, being connected with you, creating space and ease, taking quality natural breaths, letting go and taking chances, and being grounded while practicing freedom. Like a helium balloon tied to a pebble, yoga is about being present and enjoying a journey and not chasing a destination.   • Alta Lourette

    Alta is an international yoga teacher who is dedicated to inspiring earth dwellers to play freely and be an observer of their thoughts. She believes in having fun and not to take yoga, yourself, and life so seriously. She has been practicing different styles of yoga since 2005 in various locations worldwide. She has taught yoga in India, Dubai, and South Africa and currently resides and teaches in Cape Town where she is the manager of a yoga studio at a rock climbing gym. Rock climbing is her other passion.

  • Ilse van der Walt

    Ilse is an internationally certified yoga teacher who teaches Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin style yoga classes. She has a Bachelor’s degree in human movement science and psychology and turned to yoga as a way to connect more to her body and her own emotional needs during her studies to reduce stress and anxiety. She guides students into harmony with their minds, physical bodies, and the environment through pure presence and relaxation.

The retreat will be held in Kichanga Lodge, Michamvi Pingwe, Zanzibar. Located in a semi-autonomous archipelago off the coast of Tanzania, Kichanga Lodge is set in thatched-roof buildings amid tropical gardens on Zanzibar's Michamvi Pingwe which is found on the right side of the peninsula, facing the east and the open sea. With its magnificent view of white sandy beach and palm trees, Kichanga Lodge provides a perfect atmosphere for your activities.

Enjoy a healthy and meat-free cuisine during the retreat. The foods served for you are mostly pescatarian, but Lekker Yoga can cater for vegetarian too. There is also a restaurant and a beach bar available in Kichanga Lodge.

Kichanga's open-air restaurant offers a variety of seafood delicacies and many selections of international cuisine. Kichanga prides itself on the quality and creativity of the menu and its warm and welcoming staff. The location overlooking the ocean allows appetizers along with the white sand beach and romantic dinners lit by golden sunsets.

Beach bar

A traditional and weathered boat is served as Kichanga's beach bar where tropical cocktails, local Tanzanian beers, soft drinks, and complimentary tea and coffee are served.

The quaint Makuti hut at Kichanga Lodge that hovers above the white sand is served as a massage room for guests wishing to pamper and relax themselves.
