"Lanzasurf was everything I expected and a whole lot more. I had such a wonderful 5 days and came back feeling mentally and physically relaxed and happy. The surf teachers are thorough and tailor to your needs, and most of all really lovely people. I would highly recommend this for a short break (or long if you have the time ) and want to learn to surf in a friendly and welcoming environment."

"10 points to LANZASURF Family! the surf experience has been incredible, my boyfriend and I had so much fun! the instructors are amazing, not just for making us surfing in just 5 days but also for all the theorical lessons after lunch cause they gave us a complete education for what concerns surfing from now on (planning surf vacations, respecting surf rules, geographic and scientific factors that come together to create waves,...). The yoga teacher was lovely, a precious appointment with relax and very inspiring for my future. we met amazing people from all over Europe in the sharing house that are now friends and we promised to visit each other. I wish that vacation could last forever! It s been the very first time I cried at the moment of our return. I didn't want to go home! I cannot say how magic this experience has been for me. Thank you so much!"

The accommodation was clean and everyone was really friendly. The yoga with Alba was amazing and included some really powerful meditations...would definitely recommend!", edited

"Great experience surfing and learning yoga in Lanzarote. The Lanzasurf team was great as they were really responsive, which helped us organize our trip very quickly. They provided accommodation near the surf school, which was not luxurious but comfortable enough. Our surf instructors were Gordon and Gilmar and it was great being taught by them. They really care about their "students" and make sure to adapt to your level. The yoga sessions on one of Famara's rooftops were really nice and easy, made for beginners as well as for more experienced people. Very relaxing and perfect activity to close an intense surf day!"

"Yoga - Being fairly new to yoga I wasn’t sure what to expect but I needn’t of worried. The classes were held in a relaxed location with a fantastic view. The instruction was excellent and due to the classes being kept to small numbers it was tailored to all levels and languages. The daily variations of yoga styles was a superb insight and something I particularly enjoyed. I couldn’t recommend Famara yoga highly enough. Lanzasurf have got it right, good instruction, a friendly inclusive vibe and a professional set up. They ensure the instructor to student ratio is good and tailor for all levels with student feedback on every wave. I have previously been on a more expensive surf course before and without doubt Lanzasurf was far superior, my confidence on a board has improved massively. The instructors priority is surfing and learning to surf in a fun environment not student turnover. Their passion for the sport is infectious and I would highly recommend them. ", edited

"Really good experience. We did 2 days of surfing, it was my first time, and I really enjoyed it. The instructors were awesome, they were highly prepared, they had a lot of patience and there are constantly checking what you are doing and giving you tips."

"What I really enjoyed, is that they do not only teach you surf but at lunchtime and during the surf school they try to discuss things that go beyond normal courses. During my two days we discussed wave formation, physics of wave formation (good level of I might add), weather patterns, how to find out the right conditions for surfing, temperature, pressure, wind, etc, and ecology. "

"Really cool people and above all they are super fun. I am definitely coming back."

"Nothing more to say. The Lanzasurf family welcomed us with open hearts and entertained us with lots of laughs, great stories, and surprisingly delicious sandwiches (or maybe I was just too hungry from all the surfing to notice). It's amazing how much your surfing will improve in only a few short days no matter what level you start at, and to share the waves with fellow students and teachers from all over the world is just amazing. Already missing Famara-dise."

"What a trip :) ! We did one week of surfari, chasing waves with our instructors Gilmar and Max."

"First of all, a very big thanks to Gilmar, the best instructor I had since 12 years of surfing. Gilmar is very pedagogue, generous, enthousiastic and passionate. He has a lot of knowledge and experience and do its best to transmit all of this. He knows all the key people on the island and he always brought us to the best waves with no people !"

"We had beautiful waves also with Max, who is a very nice and cool guy! He brought us to really nice peaks and gave us confidence during a 3m session. Max showed us also nice parts of the island. "

"Mathilde and Evandro are really nice, well organized and helpful. They made everything to make our stay perfect, and it was ! Thank you !!"

I did a week in Famara end of September or early October and the weather and waves condition were amazing!!Firstly, I'd like to say a big thank you to Mathilde for her swift responsiveness and her patience with my zillions questions prior booking my trip. She was of a great help and made this trip happened. Also big thank you to all of the surf instructors, Gordon, Evandro, Gilmar and Tom, you guys are ace and really made us feel part of your little surf family! I certainly will never forget Gilmar's infamous quotes "boum boum in" and "guys, be sensorial with the waves"... That really cracked me up.I highly recommend these guys and Lanzasurf Family, I'm sure we'll meet again."

The surf school was really good and the instructors did not stop before we learned the essentials the right way. The combination with the yoga sessions made the whole trip a nice round experience. Gaining fitness while having fun, that's a rare thing for lazy above 30 years old."

"Fantastic day out. The quick responses on-line gave a good first impression. The quality of teaching along the fun was just right. All beginners meant a big challenge, but the patience shown was brilliant. It was a day I will never forget. Famara is one of my favorite places ever. Went back on a cycle ride a few days later and the scenery never disappoints."

  • Review by Sheetal from London, UK

"I came to Famara to get over my fear of the sea and to overcome the psychological effects of a broken ankle after the first time I surfed years ago. Naturally I was apprehensive in the beginning, and by the end I couldn't wait to come home and organize another surf trip! My instructor Gilmar pushed me and believed in me, although I did have some frustrated moments. But we worked through those together and by the end I took more waves than I could have imagined. Evandro and Mathilde are a lovely (and ridiculously attractive!) couple who own the school and are dedicated to making you feel at home and as part of a family. I stayed at the surf house which was good value for money and a great base to explore the beautiful village of Famara. I couldn't recommend these guys more. It was not just a surfing trip, it was an experience. Go and try it!"About the yoga, I would like to add...The yoga was a nice and relaxing contrast to the surfing, but I also felt challenged and stretched, ready for the next day. I had not tried Kundalini yoga before, and it was great to try a new style. Each teacher (Alba, Sandra and Tara) was different and I would recommend that you try them all as they all have something great to offer." website, edited

  • Review by Hanna Bing from Frankfurt, Germany

"Even though I had surfed before, I tried not to be biased by what I had learned before. Lanzasurf Instructors are serious surfers that know what is important and how to teach you, help you to improve or correct your skills very successfully. We only had a 3-day-course but enjoyed every minute of it. The courses were rather small so every participant got it's time needed and was able to share their experiences with the other students (which pretty much all had different skill levels).Since I came there with an injured knee in the healing process, the instructor took care that I would not stress my knee too much and taught me how to manage surfing without putting too much preassure on it. It made me really feel like being part of a family. We ended up spending our evenings together with the other students and had a very nice time at Famara. It was an incredible and also exhausting time and we can recommend learning how to surf as long as you are willing to learn and listen to what is told. If you are just going to Famara to have fun at the beach, do it on your own."

"I've had guiding with a couple of schools in Lanzarote but for Lanzasurf are the best. This was the first time I had surfed with Gilmar, and he was excellent. Great guy to surf with, great tips and really took the time to show us more of the Island. For me, a guide comes in to their own and really earns their money when they can find you good waves when it's flat. Gilmar managed just this. Evandro's video analysis is invaluable, very precise and gives me just the key things I need to work on. Once again I feel my surfing has improved again and I had a blast. Will be back."

In terms of surfing, Evandro Matilde and Leandro are the best instructors. They are patient and always in the best mood. They were very happy for us each time we improved and I'm very grateful for that. Very good exercises and I improved very fast. It's nice to go far away and still feel like home. "Back again for the third time and will be back again. I came for four days guiding as Lanzarote has some of the best waves in Europe. The mix of Lea and Evandro was really helpful. Both surf to a very high level and bring a unique insight to improving my surfing. They are able to find waves to help you develop. For example one day, the morning was spent surfing a beach break solo while coming in every 30 mins for video analysis and then the afternoon was spent at La Santa on super clean lefts. The surf house has one of the best atmospheres and was always friendly. With the addition of the new surf house manager Oyana she helps everyone out and really helps first timers settle in quickly. Highly recommended."

Our instructor, Nagai, was absolutely perfect - I can't believe I stood up on my second day in the sea! Amazing group of people, beautiful place, super-relaxing - everything we wanted and more. "Mathilde takes care of organisation. She does it on a personal basis (I doubt you can get it in big surf schools). Evandro is a coach and you will feel that you are in good hands, when learning surfing. Two other instructors (Nagai and Asier) keep it all very active, alive and fun. They are really good instructors. I am very satisfied with my experience with Lanzasurf."

Once in the water, Evandro took us to the peak and gave us precious tips on how to position ourselves to catch the wave, timing, riding the wave, turning and getting back to the line-up. We felt the course was perfectly adapted to our level. "
