Join this amazing retreat specially designed for you to live the Oriental culture and experience singular activities that will allow you to become one with yourself and will help you to be in balance with nature. This retreat will be full of revitalizing Tai Chi practices, mindful meditation sessions, wonderful yoga practices, oriental Cookery demonstrations, and sacred ceremonies with kirtan music!
During this retreat, you will stay either in a shared or a private room. Mandala House has private single rooms, twin rooms, and triple rooms. You can either book a room privately for yourself, share a private room with a friend or two, or share a room with others on the same retreat. Single rooms available for all retreats and the rooms can also be shared with other attendees.
Although this is an optional activity, you are recommend to join in this fascinating cultural experience. You may attend to the “Greeting of the Deities” ceremony. The program will continue with some chant music and an arati-aratis, which are ancient Hindu and Buddhist ceremonies. Afterwards, you will enjoy a talk on the Bhagavad Gita, a Sanskrit philosophical text. You are welcome to stay for as long as you like or may relax elsewhere on the island if you wish.
If you prefer not to go on the full walk, you are welcome to relax and explore the extensive grounds of the stately home at your own pace. After the walk, you will enjoy a picnic with deliciously prepared treats from Carmen's kitchen.
You will visit the exotic shrine room and join to the 30-minute meditation at 16:00 and visit the community shop afterwards.
You may also use this time to relax if you wish and you may take the lunch in the temple on the island.
Tim left his home at Dublin when he was 18 years old to become a Krishna monk, which was initially a bit of a shock to his family but now everyone is happy. He trained at Bhaktivedanta Manor temple near London and then lived in the temple on Inish Rath Island for eight years. While in the temple, he studied Vedic philosophy from the ancient Sanskrit texts such as the Bhagavad Gita and the Bhagavat Purana, plus he learned kirtan-yoga and sacred chant music.
Carmen learned to cook her first recipes from her mother in Panama when she was only seven years old. Later, at 18, she learned how to cook delicacies and tasty dishes from India with the head monk at the Krishna temple, Hari Chakra Das. Carmen cooks for all the retreats at Mandala House. Carmen has a relaxed, laid-back, and cheerful way of sharing her cookery tips.
Frances McHugh is an expert Tai Chi teacher. She graduated from the Irish College of Traditional Chinese medicine in 1996, has a postgraduate training from the Nanjing Railway Hospital, and she also graduated in medical Qi-kong in 2009. Frances gives classes in therapeutic exercise and relaxation through Tai Chi. Her classes are suitable for practically anyone. She designed a way to do the exercises while sitting after an injury she had herself, although typically Tai Chi is meditation performed while walking and standing.
This retreat will be held at Mandala House near the shores of Upper Lough Erne, Ireland. Mandala House is located 400 meters across the water from Inish Rath Island. The Lakeland area is a peaceful sanctuary where you can enrich your body, mind, and soul. Peacock strut openly around the island, while in the local area heron, swan, and deer wander freely in the peaceful lakeside atmosphere.

During this retreat, you will be served three daily healthy meals and complimentary herbal teas. You will also have the opportunity to take a cooking class with Carmen. All food is vegetarian and extremely tasty, cooked with love by vegan chef Carmen McEvitt. Meals are prepared fresh on the day. Vegans can note that most meals are vegan-friendly. The food is a combination of Indian vegetarian such as samosas, curries, basmati rice, and also Western vegetarian dishes such as pizza, salads, pasta, and soups.

Enniskillen and Cavan are 25 kilometers away, but you can get closer to the retreat center with the national coach services of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
From the airport you will have to take the bus with (Donegal) as its end destination.
From Dublin, you may take the Donegal line from the main (and only) coach station in Dublin city center (Busárus). You may ask for a ticket to Belturbet. The journey takes about two hours and 20 minutes. And from Belturbet, you will need a taxi to go to Inish Rath Island.
Large towns close to Inish Rath Island are Enniskillen and Cavan town. A taxi from Cavan will cost around 35 EUR and a taxi from Enniskillen will cost approximately 30 GBP.
Benny Corby, with his family and friends, are the cheerful local taxi service. If you arrive on the Bus Eireann coach at Belturbet, the car journey to Lake Isle Retreats, Mandala House near Inish Rath Island costs about 15 EUR. Lake Isle Retreats suggests that it's better for you to phone that morning to make a provisional booking.
Almost two hours after leaving Dublin, the coach stops in Cavan town for a five to 10 minutes break. From the moment this bus departs again you should phone Benny and tell him where you are. He will then know you will be arriving in Belturbet 15 minutes later.
