On retreat, there is a big family mood. In this spirit, Lake Isle Retreats appreciate when people offer to do small services. You will not be asked to help in any way at any time - don't worry: you're also on a mini-holiday. However, generally most people are at least expected to help by washing their own plate after meals. This is referred to as Karma yoga on yoga retreats. Lake Isle Retreats appreciate any little help you can give like this very much.

Carmen Padilla
Carmen learned to cook her first recipes from her mother in Panama when she was only seven years old. Later, at 18, she learned how to cook delicacies and tasty dishes from India with the head monk at the Krishna temple, Hari Chakra Das. Carmen cooks for all the retreats at Mandala House. Carmen has a relaxed, laid-back, and cheerful way of sharing her cookery tips.

On nearly all retreats there is an option to go on the ferry boat to Inis Rath Island at 6:45 a.m. to attend the kirtan (music chant) from 7:00 a.m. and listen to some of the reading or talk from the Srimad Bhagavatam (an ancient text). For attending the 4:30 a.m. service in the temple you may phone the island the day before and that morning to request your ferry trip. The mangal arati ceremony and chant at this time is a wonderful experience.

The cost is 39 EUR or 30 GBP for a 50-minute therapy. Optional massage times are at 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., or 5:30 p.m.
