Gambledown Farm is found on a hill above the Test Valley in Hampshire, with views across to the Isle of Wight. The farm is run as a mixed farm, growing a mix of cereal crops and forage brassicas as well as being home to a herd of pedigree Shorthorn cattle.

This gorgeous retreat venue is spread across three beautifully converted barns and stunning ‘off grid’ glamping safari tents for those who prefer to be immersed in nature.

  • The barn conversions have a beautifully bright open plan living spaces, underfloor heating and each bedroom comes with its own private bathroom.
  • The impressive safari tents are fully off grid, with no electricity, but still boast hot and cold running water and fully equipped bathrooms.
  • The daily practices and evening workshops will take place in the beautiful event barn, with underfloor heating and a log burner.

Retreat location

The ancient market town of Romsey lies in the heart of Test Valley surrounded by beautiful countryside. Dating back to the 8th century, the town was built on the banks of the River Test whose streams meander throughout the town. Pretty medieval streets surround Romsey Abbey, the largest parish church in the county and one of England’s finest examples of Norman architecture.

Romsey is home to a multitude of small independent retailers and its winding streets add to Romsey’s charm.

Food

Daily meals will be lovingly prepared and served by the wonderful Jo Barret-Miles, this incredible in-house plant-based, and healthy living practitioner and retreat chef.

Expect beautiful grazing platters and drinks on arrival with assorted dips, dried, and fresh fruits, and nuts. Immune boosting shots and raw energy snacks before yoga. Wholesome and nourishing breakfasts of overnight oats or sourdough toast, eggs, mushrooms, and avo. Lush buddha bowls and delicious layered salads for lunch and decadent 3-course evening meals.

Jo’s passion for cooking started at a young age when she designated herself as the family cook. In 2006, Jo conceptualized and opened her own café restaurant in NW London which offered a home from home dining experience as well as afternoon teas and patisserie.

During her 13 years of restaurant ownership, Jo discovered a love of yoga and experienced for herself the intrinsic connection between healthy, mindful eating and wellness. This ignited Jo’s love affair with all things plant-based and in particular influenced her cooking style.

Having recently relocated to Brighton; Jo is enjoying her new role as the pastry chef for Stanmer Park Tea Rooms and takes great delight in presenting her delicious and beautifully decorated creations to its patrons.

Romsey is managed by Great Western Railway, with services to and from Southampton, Portsmouth, Brighton, Westbury (Wiltshire), Salisbury, Bristol and Cardiff. Trains to London are via Southampton and Salisbury (South Western Trains).
