The accommodation options are on private and double room basis. Surrounded by majestic trees of differing greens and a timeless landscape stretching into the distance, Gaunts House is naturally beautiful and peaceful. Guests could hear birds or the cooing of pigeons, and roe deers come and nibble the roses of an early morning.

Gaunts House is a period, red brick mansion with a castellated north tower, sitting within the approximately 1,900 acres of Gaunts estate. The rooms and setting are spacious, peaceful, and beautiful. Gaunts have singles, doubles, and twin bedrooms for up to 83 people and mainly shared rooms for about 100 people, plus camping and the community rooms.

The Avalon and Courtyard cottages are available for visiting course leaders or teachers, and private retreat-goers by arrangement. The north tower is a two-room apartment with a kitchen and bathroom, available for visiting course leaders or teachers as well. It is accessible from the black and white corridor.

Gaunts House has four permanent course and workshop rooms which are the large open space with sprung wooden floor barn theater, the grand and ornate ballroom, the large and special library, and the large private room on the first floor, Ash. The house also has public rooms which are shared by all, the drawing room, the old hall, the dining room, the old smoking room which is now a bar, and the sanctuary.

At Gaunts House, you will stay in shared or single room with shared bathroom. Shared en-suite rooms are available at an additional cost of 60 GBP extra cost while single en-suite rooms are available at at an additional cost of 75 GBP.

Ladan Soltani's retreats attract every level of practitioner. She always has a mixture of people attending. Ladan can cater for beginners to advanced. The style of yoga varies too as she has trained in quite a few disciplines, such as Sivananda or Hatha style and Ashtanga.

Ladan really works with the feel of the group and meets the needs and requirements of the class participants in that moment, adapting with modifications or more challenging versions of the postures for those who want the option.

You will start with a two-hour yoga and meditation session on Friday night to ease you into the weekend which will be followed by dinner. Yoga classes will be held in the ballroom. During the classes, Ladan will be giving personal adjustments to correct postures and guiding you through the breath or pranayama and meditation.

  • Ladan Soltani

    Ladan is a yoga and meditation practitioner who facilitates her own classes, workshops, and retreats. She trained with Sivananda yoga in the Himalayas and Mysore style Ashtanga in San Francisco with Greenpath Yoga. Ladan’s classes have all been aired on various Sky fitness channels, she writes a blog on Huffington Post, and is a published author of Fabulous Fitness at 40 and has two DVDs. She loves teaching yoga as it has allowed her to become aligned with her true sense of purpose in life. She lives by the Eastern philosophy that yoga is about self-realization.

The retreat will be held in Gaunts House, Dorset, England. Gaunts House is situated on a heavenly estate of protected Dorset countryside totaling nearly 2000 acres. The estate has a four-acre lake as well as many acres of private woods, which in the spring are full of life and are carpeted with bluebells.

The grounds are cared for in an environmental friendly way and are open for all to indulge in the tranquility and enjoy country walks.

  • Follow the Wimborne to Cranborner Road (B3078), north from Wimborne for about three and a half miles to the mushroom cottage at the entrance to Gaunts Drive on the right.

From the Poole train station, take a number three bus. From there, embark on a roughly 30-minute journey to Wimborne town center.

Gaunts can be reached by public transportation arriving into the city of Poole by train or couch, then taking a bus to Wimborne.

Arrival by taxi

From Wimborne, you may take a taxi to BH21 4JD and follow the old carriage drive to the front door of Gaunts House.

From the Wimborne town center, a taxi costs 10 GBP and the ride takes about at least seven to eight minutes.

    "I have been practicing yoga for the past 2 years with Ladan and I can honestly say that I would recommend Ladan's workshops to anyone, no matter what your age, experience or background. I started out as an absolute novice 2 years ago with the aim of trying to improve my balance and posture and can safely say that I have progressed and improved in these areas, as well as on the spiritual side of things with meditation which was an added bonus as this was not something I expected to get exposure to.     "A wonderful escape from all at this beautiful retreat in Tuscany. As a novice yogi I was a little intimidated at the thought of going on a weeks yoga retreat and leaving behind my family for the first time in years to do something just for me. With yoga every morning and meditation every evening I was nervous as I was only a once a week yogi but any fears were quickly calmed on arrival as everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The venue couldn't have been more perfect in idyllic Tuscan countryside with wonderful fresh homemade Italian vegetarian food every evening washed down with red wine grown on the estate. The hosts entertained us as though we were family members. A wonderful place to unwind and gather your thoughts whilst challenging your body and your mind to stretch and release any tension from your working and daily life. Ladan is one of the best yoga teachers I have personally come across, spiritual yet grounded and encouraging at all levels whether beginner or experienced yogi to fulfill and exceed your own expectations. A fabulous experience all round and I've made some great friends along the way."

    "I loved this Forward and Backward Bend workshop. I went running the morning after and my body felt completely different and not stiff at all. My core has always been my weak point, especially after two pregnancies, I don’t think my stomach muscles have ever come back together...     "Wonderful teacher! I was an absolute beginner when I started my yoga classes with Ladan a year ago. I am slowly improving, little by little, thanks to Ladan's wonderful teaching, encouragement & the lovely, safe atmosphere she creates in the studio. Ladan has a talent to make every one in her Yoga classes feel welcome & important. She knows everyone names, gently adjusts all her yogis, both demonstrates & explains equally and starts and ends the class with a short meditation and mantras which always calm me & make me smile. I often think about some of the wise words outside of the class. The class has the perfect balance of being body focused and spiritual.
