The beautiful estate Maso Michei, home to LaContessa and your stay during the vacation, is situated between the vast vineyards. Here you stay in the 8-room country house which offers all the comfort that you can wish. With an eye for detail and sense of hospitality.

All rooms from the country house are attractively furnished, all have a (shared) bathroom with shower and toilet and a beautiful view of the vineyards against the impressive backdrop of the Lessini Mountains and the Piccole Dolomiti. An estate where the quality of life is preserved and where it can still be real (breathtakingly) silent.

The estate with an area of 10,000 m ² offers all the opportunity to laze and relax. Within the country house there is a small sauna where you can relax. In the living room you can find a charming seating area for a moment for yourself or with your fellow travelers. Here you can read a book, play a game or catch up on the experiences of that day or the things you like.

Outside you can enjoy the Italian sun in the afternoon. With a beautiful terrace with lounge sofas, loungers and hammocks. Or you might want a moment for yourself? No problem. Relax on a lounge chair between the vineyards and enjoy the moment.

LaContessa is housed in the left part of the Maso. Giuseppe Tognotti and his wife Michela Bruni with their two children live on the right side. Michela is a designer and creates jewelry and bags in her own Studio in Ala. Giuseppe is a winemaker and owner of cantina Maso Michei since 2001, an independent winery with ten hectares of land and an average production of about 25,000 bottles of wine per year.

During your vacation, every morning you can enjoy a yoga class under the guidance of a teacher from the Netherlands, where you’ll learn the unique value of yoga. An offer that is all about relaxation, effort, concentration and having fun together.

All lessons take place in a beautiful studio in the outdoor air, where all the windows can be fully open. That's combining fun with fun. You practice yoga with views over the mountains and at the same time feel the clean air around you and the sun on your skin. A beneficial combination.

In the lessons, you work with elements from various active and vibrant yoga styles that are combined to form a balanced program for the guests. A varied offering that is accessible for both beginners and advanced. Every meeting is concluded with relaxation, beautiful music and/or depending on the teacher, singing together. On Fridays there is a singing bowl concert.

With a pleasant and satisfied feeling you leave the lesson and it's time to lunch. In the kitchen of the mansion is the cook meanwhile busy with the preparations of the midday meal and a beautifully laid table is already waiting for you. You just need to fall in line, wonderful right?

Claire Hesp
After completing my vocational dance training, I have traveled and learned a lot from different cultures and inspiring teachers. That way I quickly came into contact with yoga. I noticed how beneficial it was for me. Yoga helped and still helps me both physically and mentally. My lessons contain a sense of calmness and positivity. I like to share my body awareness by helping you to find the right pose through personal directions and applications. Body and mind are explored by the continuous asanas (postures) in combination with ujjayi breathing.
Bethinda Fang
In addition to arranging the daily routine in her own studio, Bethinda provides various yoga classes such as stress relief, yin yang flow and power yoga. She also offers pilates and massages. She teaches in small groups in order to guarantee quality and personal attention. Bethinda regularly organizes profound workshops, themed lessons and courses such as Mindfulness.

For me, yoga is the way to stay on the ground with both feet in a busy life and to be able to keep on putting things into perspective. Yoga gave me the insight that I am more than a body with a head full of pressure. I got to know my body better through yoga. In my lessons I mix elements from different yoga styles into a subdued, fluid and dynamic whole.

Since 1999 I lead my own yoga studio with a lot of fun and enthusiasm. As a yoga, pilates and dance teacher, I like playful lessons with plenty of space for what is happening in the moment. In June 2014 I graduated from the Balanced Body University USA as a qualified all-round Comprehensive Pilates Teacher.

Since the end of 2013 I obtained the Vinyasa teacher training certificate (RYT200) and I started teaching in especially dynamic and yin yoga classes. Since then I have been following workshops, classes, modules and master classes with several renowned teachers. I also enjoy visiting yoga festivals and I have been a guest at LaContessa since 2014 to gain inspiration and knowledge. It has become my lust and life to learn more about yoga and share it with my students, such as during the yoga holidays of LaContessa in Italy!

During Yin classes (with a nod to Yang) I want to invite you to find your own natural border in a loving and safe environment. You may recognize the days that you have spent almost entirely sitting, where the front of your body becomes stronger and your body posture changes very slowly and almost invisibly. Yin is also a meditative approach to yoga and develops awareness of the inner silence. Finding peace, silence and inner peace together with loving kindness starts with yourself.

The focus in my lessons is on Saswitha yoga, a form of Hatha yoga that starts from the unity of body and consciousness, where breathing forms the connection. Characteristic of Saswitha yoga is the way you use your breath, namely as a tool to experience that connection in yourself. By performing yoga postures and breathing consciously you come into your body and you discover peace in your head. My lessons contain a balanced division between standing, sitting and lying postures.
Lotte Peters
I have practiced different styles of yoga over the past ten years, from dynamic styles to Yin yoga. I followed my basic training in Hatha yoga at Saswitha. Every year I travel to India where I find depth and inspiration. In my teaching the different forms of yoga come together, from powerful Hatha flow to meditative Yin yoga. My lessons are accessible to everyone, because in order to experience yoga you do not have to do complicated postures in my opinion. If desired, I like to work with mantras, or I add a touch of reflection in the form of a guided meditation.

In 2011 I opted for a 4-year teacher training at Yoga Academie Nederland (YAN) in Amsterdam. At first I did this for my personal development, but gradually I also found teaching very enjoyable. I discovered that yoga consists of so many more elements than just the postures. I would like to convey that to my students. As a freelance writer, I wrote three articles for the Magazine Spiegelbeeld: "What yoga really is". I myself have experienced that yoga introduces you to the subtler levels of energy in your body.

I am Trudy Pope of Yogazin Amersfoort and I teach Saswitha yoga classes. Saswitha yoga is a form of Hatha yoga that is based on the unity of body and consciousness in which breathing forms the connection. The beauty of this form of yoga is that you come into contact with yourself through this connection. Discover what lives in you, how you can relax and experience a soothing peace. The lesson has a build-up from quiet to more commitment with room for reflection and relaxation. The poses we do are sitting and lying down. Breathing is the supporting force in dynamic and static postures.

Also this year, you can enjoy food from the Italian chef Vito Lordi He guarantees 2 times per day a vegetarian 3-course meal of top-level. The dishes of the restaurant are from the Italian regional cuisine combined with delicious vegetarian variations and prepared with local products such as olive oil, cheese, polenta, honey and, among other things, the wines from the private estate. Five days you can enjoy complete care.

On Wednesday, you have the option to choose where you want to go have dinner. So you can get acquainted with traditional recipes from Trentino such as carne salada, canederli in brodo or strangolapreti. Throughout the week you can enjoy fresh fruit. Things to do (optional)

In addition to the daily yoga program in the morning, you can also participate in other activities, like a nice and easy walk with a guide, a boat trip on Lake Garda, shopping in Riva del Garda or a visit to the famous opera city of Verona. You have total freedom this week. The choice is yours!

Maybe you prefer a massage or an hour in the sauna, or you’d like to surrender to the haven of peace on the sunny terrace where you can relax. Enjoy with a book under a parasol, swinging in a hammock and sipping a cool glass of white wine. That is the Italian "dolce far niente ' at its best, that is pure enjoyment of 'doing nothing' and life as it presents itself. A visit to the opera of Verona is also an option.

Thai Body Massage

This massage works on the energy lines of your body using a technique in which with hands, thumbs, feet, elbows, forearms and knees pressure is applied. Your body is as it were manipulated and stretched on a deep, soft and friendly way that you could compare with the passive practicing yoga. It restores the general well-being and promotes relaxation by the unblocking of possible tensions in the body. It increases your dexterity and elasticity. This massage lasts 85 minutes and costs 70 EUR.

Ayurveda Massage

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical system focused on the health of body, mind and soul. Ayurvedic massage uses essential oils which are specifically tailored to each individual. Also the style and movement of the massage is determined by who you are and what your body needs at that time for an optimal balance and well-being. This massage lasts 55 minutes and costs 60 EUR.

Drops or Garda Massage

This is an anti-stress massage working with organic, essential massage oils made from citrus fruits and olives from the region around Lake Garda. The treatment involves long and slow movements for a strong relaxing effect. It harmonizes body and mind and promotes balance in the attitude of your body. This massage takes 45 minutes and costs 55 EUR.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

The nearest airport is the airport of Verona (VRN). For 49.50 EUR per person (roundtrip) a transfer can be arranged at a simultaneous time of arrival and departure with other guests on the flying times of Transavia. If you are travelling in a different way or on a different time and/or in another place, regardless of the number of accompanying people, the local taxi rate will be applied:

  • Airport Verona 85 EUR, - per person (retour)
  • Rovereto train station 65 EUR, - per person (retour)
  • Riva del Garda bus station 65 EUR, - per person (retour)
  • Ala train station 45 EUR, - per person (retour)

Arrival by car

The fastest route from Amsterdam is around 1200 kilometers and takes about 11 hours and 30 minutes. For a detailed route itinerary, you can check the website of the ANWB. Depending on the starting point, you can choose between two routes to Lake Garda; via Germany or via Switzerland. Through Switzerland is slightly shorter and goes through the Gotthard. If you cross Switzerland, you will pass by Chiasso to the Italian border. When you reach Milan you can expect traffic during rush hour. Via Germany you head to Munich, Innsbruck and Brenner pass. From there follow the A22 direction Modena, Trento, Bolzano and Verona. Then you see the Ala/Avio exit and then the signs Ala and valle dei Ronchi. At the first roundabout you go straight ahead in Ala and then turn right at the second roundabout (at sign SPAR) and follow the signs to Ronchi.

If you will continue to follow the signs Ronchi you will drive by localita' Mas and then Ronchi di Ala. This road is narrow in some sections and not everywhere well paved. After 15 minutes you’ll see Maso Michei at the right side, where you can find a place to park.
